Chapter 17:
Swim!
"Help me finish this brat!" The thief yelled at the fairy boy.
"Rrright." The boy replied while trembling.
Finn activated his ring again, but this time instead of using it to take gems from others, he pulled all gems from his sack. Gemstones were levitating in the air around Finn and Marina.
"What?! That's impossible!" The thief was shocked.
"We're attacking now!" He said to the fairy boy who was right behind him.
"Bbbut that's a lot of gems... I..."
"You coward, now!" The thief yelled again.
"Okay." The boy attacked while still shaking.
The thief used all his remaining gemstones at once.
They say gemstones have only four abilities: force, speed, strength, and shield. Some gems can give you more power than the other, stronger shield or make you faster, but the property would remain the same no matter how many gems you possess. Well, at least that's what most people think.
As Finn moved his hand, gems followed it.
But I beg to differ.
The boy smirked.
He blocked the attack with a shield, removed the shield, and then attacked using ten gems at once, constantly switching new ones.
"Hold on, Marina, we're going up." Finn said to Marina.
Huh?
She was confused.
In the next moment, they jumped high in the air.
Finn attacked from above.
"Oh no." The thief said before getting hit.
Both the thief and fairy boy were lying on the floor, completely beaten from the fight.
"How will we fly away now?!" The other thief panicked.
"Yeah, he shouldn't have revealed the fairy just for a dumb fight. We could have escaped with money and jewelry if he wasn't so stubborn to fight that kid." Said another.
Suddenly, a cage was destroyed, and everyone was free.
"Oh, you're not going anywhere. Get them, boys." Miss Cherry said to her crew.
"Right away, boss." They responded.
And so Miss Cherry and her crew managed to capture all of the thieves in the end.
"Finn, Marina, you're okay!" Camellia flew towards them.
"Camellia, I'm so happy to see you're okay too." Finn said.
"Finn!" His mother rushed to hug him.
"I was so worried; thank God you're okay." Miss Cherry sounded relieved.
"You were so brave and strong; I'm proud of you." The mother smiled.
"Thanks, Mom, but you can stop hugging me now."
Camellia and Marina giggled in the background.
"Oh, right. "Ahm, by the way, Tyson, thank you for your assistance; I appreciate it." Miss Cherry turned her head towards the fiery boy.
"No problem. It's the least I could do after you were so kind to welcome me on the ship. Plus you spoke in Plamenian; I'm the one who appreciates that." Tyson thanked Miss Cherry.
Plamenian?
Marina looked at him with curiosity in her eyes.
I actually had a theory, but I wasn't sure and didn't really have the time to think about it. So much was going on at once.
Marina thought in her head.
"Oh, there is no reason to thank me for that. If I want to be a proper host, I have to know the languages of potential guests." Miss Cherry replied to the boy.
"Guests?" Tyson looked confused, like he didn't expect to hear those words.
"Yes, this is a party after all. Well, it was before all this had happened, but the show must go on. Our guests don't usually fall from the sky, but I think we can make an exception in your case."
Miss Cherry smiled and winked.
The boy was standing there for a moment, quiet and unsure what to say; he simply thanked her again.
"Thank you so much." He spoke politely.
"Don't even think of it. If it weren't for you both, Golden Feather and Red Rock would have been robbed today. Besides, even if that wasn't the case, you are a kid who ended up on my ship after being pushed. What kind of mother and person would I be if I turned a blind eye to that?"
Miss Cherry said something in his language as well.
"Are we people or not." The boy translated out loud with a smile on his face.
"Kids, I'll put Tyson's cabin right next to yours. Finn, please show him around, would you?"
"Of course," Finn replied.
Later that evening, Finn knocked on the door of Tyson's cabin.
The boy immediately opened the door.
"Hi, I just wanted to give you this." Finn was holding a broach in his hand.
"It's your ticket for going around the albatross." Finn explained.
"Oh, thank you," Tyson said.
Finn looked like he wanted to say something else too.
"Umm, also, I wanted to ask you if you'd like to join us for dinner. So we can all properly get to know each other."
"Sure thing, thank you." Tyson was still slightly surprised but glad to hear that.
In the dining area, the four of them were sitting at the table.
They were eating roasted chicken and potatoes with salad and drinking apple juice.
"I must say, I never saw a fragmenian use their magic the way you did; that was impressive." Tyson complimented Finn.
"Thank you." The boy nervously replied.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you how long I was holding back to use my abilities like that, in front of other people... I guess the adrenaline pushed me." Finn replied.
I don't even know why I am saying all of this out loud, but I feel like in this group I can be honest and speak my mind.
Finn thought in his head.
"If I were you, I'd never hesitate. Just always remember this: at least your magic isn't forbidden to use on the streets." Tyson said.
"Why would it be forbidden?" Marina asked with a confused expression on her face.
Oh no, did I say something I shouldn't have?
Marina noticed everyone looking at her.
Aghh, I didn't tell her that part yet.
Camellia was worried.
"Lady, I don't mean to be rude, but did you live under a rock or something?" Tyson looked at Marina.
All three of them looked nervous.
"Ahh, I see there is something going on here." Tyson noticed from the look on their faces.
"I won't pry; after all, it's not my business, but word of advice: inform yourself better before speaking because you never know who you will bump into, and ughhh, not everyone will react like me. I'm not trying to scare you but help you. Trust me, I was a kid not knowing how the world works and carelessly said lots of things in front of the wrong people, and let's just say it didn't end well."
Tyson tried to remain casual while talking, but his eyes were telling a different story.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Marina said to Tyson.
"You see, the truth is..." Marina looked at Camellia like she was waiting for her to say something.
"Ahh, it's okay; you can tell him." Camellia said.
"Tell me what?" Tyson looked confused.
And so Marina told him how she is actually from another world and that she, thanks to the mermaid's bracelet, ended up here. Marina also told Tyson how she met Camellia and Finn and how, with their help, she plans to return home.
"Oof, I'm too sober for this." Tyson commented.
"That's one wild story, but now your talk about the sea monster makes sense. I just can't believe there are people in this world who are crazier than I am." Tyson smirked.
"Just please, don't tell this to anyone." Marina said.
"My lips are sealed." He smiled.
"But wow, you all really plan to dive into the sea. Alright, count me in." Tyson spoke with a spark of excitement in his eyes.
