Chapter 36:
Echoes of Lost Memories
The Cosmocrats were still holding their weight against the people of Wisteria. They did not anticipate the people to rile up against them. The Cosmocrats have grown significantly weaker as the memory books were being burnt. The room became sizzling hot, and Scarlet was awakened by the burning smell. She opened her eyes and saw Kina with her group feeding the books to the flames. The tip of the flame flickered and grew larger as it devoured.
“Finally, you’re awake.” Kina peered over.
Scarlet stood up and brushed the ashes off from her clothes.
“It looks like you got this covered, thank you.” Scarlet smiled.
The shelves in the room were almost empty except for a few books stored in random areas.
The entire room was quickly filled with even more smoke. Some of the people who were with Kina left the building for fresh air.
“We should be done here shortly.” Kina said proudly.
Scarlet nodded, “That’s great, I’ll be coming to Theo’s location.”
There was a noticeable white feathery wing poking out from Scarlet’s back.
Kina stared and pointed, “What is that?”
Scarlet replied, “What, me?” She tried to look behind her.
The book giggled as it flew before Scarlet and Kina. It was the Memory Book that was inside, but it shrank down to size and sprouted wings.
Roin finally arrived while riding on Soka the boar.
Scarlet waved, “Soka!” The boar grunted in response.
She stared at Roin, wondering if she had seen him before.
Roin got off the boar and adjusted his spectacles on his nose. He said, “My apologies, I am Roin, the black bird you have met before. Recently through a clash with the Cosmocrats, somehow, I was changed back. Blackwood mentioned that I could assist you reading any of the pages from the Memory Book.”
“Come with me, I was going to see Theo.” Scarlet turned to Kina. “I will see you, Kina.”
Kina shook her head and laughed a little, “That’s Scarlet alright, making friends with all sorts.”
Scarlet and Roin both saddled on Soka, the boar, and headed off to Theo. The winged Memory Book was flying behind them while holding onto the boar’s tail.
When they arrived at the scene, they found Theo still on his throne with the spiky thorny rope around him. He seemed to be more conscious as he sat upright with eyes open. The Elder Cosmocrat was sitting right next to him.
There was a surrounding electrical barrier around them.
“Theo!” Scarlet yelled his name.
I don’t know if I can get through.
"No need to worry."
Professor Florai stepped in with her magic to dissolve the barrier.
The two Cosmocrats came forward charging at them.
“I can handle them girl, go to him.”
Professor Florai pulled out her paper scrolls and chanted,
Turn them in,
Turn them out,
Shape them till,
They can’t come out.
The Cosmocrat bodies were forced to form into a square where their legs were looped over their arms. They were screaming in pain.
Scarlet was approaching them.
The Elder appeared to be extremely pleased as the remaining Cosmocrats transferred more of the purple energy over to Theo.
“Wake up Theo, my boy...”
Theo’s face was even darker than before. A wicked smirk formed on his face.
He began to move his hands and tore off the thorny rope that kept him captive.
This shocked the Elder Cosmocrat. “I demand you to remain seated!”
Theo broke out into a sinister laugh.
Muahhahahahahaha Haahahaha
Then, he composed himself once more. “No, Elder..I’m not going to sit down.” He stood tall over him.
The Elder saw Theo’s threatening eyes. “Theo, You,”
He pulled some dice out of his pocket, one di rolled a 4 and the other di rolled a 3.
Poof Poof
Scarlet could not believe her eyes; there were seven Theos in the room. They looked identical to him with their silver spiky hair and blue eyes.
The Theo clones forcefully grabbed a few Cosmocrats. It seemed like the purple energy they were transferring over to Theo, made him stronger. It was not part of their calculation that he would work against them.
The main Theo pulled out a flask from his pocket filled with brownish red liquid. He tilted the flask back and forth.
“You’ve given me plenty of drinks Elder… now your subordinates look really thirsty.”
He poured all the red liquid into the Cosmocrat’s mouth, and their skin shriveled up.
Theo smirked at the nervous Elder.
“Who’s scared of who now?”
“Theo... you too? You defy me!”
“Yes, I’ve hated you from the start, Elder. You and my parents used my love for potion making against me! You took my green potion and forced it on me and the townspeople for control. With Rose, it didn’t go as planned, you couldn’t control her at all, and you kept injecting her until she lost her mind…I would never forgive you for that. I spent my days experimenting on various potions that could work against your kind.”
There were whispers among the Cosmocrats “We were noticing more of us were missing and found dead in their rooms. We could not pinpoint the reason as to why.”
The Cosmocrat who was responsible for housekeeping shivered, “There were more garbage bags from Theo’s room than anybody else’s.”
Theo laughed manically, “You are an obstacle in my way for total power.”
Muahhahahahahaha Haahahaha
They all stood away from him, fearful for the first time.
Theo halted his laughter. “Yes, that’s right..keep away from me. All of you!”
Scarlet overheard the conversations.
Could it be Blackwood was framed by what Theo did? It seems possible.
The Elder slammed his cane at the ground.
“Your parents were never like this.”
Theo responded, “Of course, I'm not as foolish as my parents…they were greedy for power and worshiped you. What was their reward in their end? They were slain by you. Yes, the psycho that you created is killing your kind. How ironic.”
The Elder slammed his cane at the ground, again.
Back to the battlefield, Flen somersaulted into the air and swung his sword his sword to wound a Cosmocrat that was coming from behind Valerius.
Slash Slash
Valerius was impressed, “It seems you have been getting stronger.”
Flen crossed his arms, “Thanks.”
The Elder’s slamming sound echoed through and the Cosmocrats retreated to return to where he was.
Pim was in the middle of swallowing another Cosmocrat. Grandmother Mimi and Blackwood were by each other’s side to clobber a couple of them. The Cosmocrats abruptly stood up and left. Their instant departure was unusual.
“Hey, come back here,” exclaimed Grandmother Mimi.
“A bunch of scaredy cats, I’d say,” Blackwood smirked.
“They sure left in a panic,” Flen said.
“They don’t leave without reason…maybe something happened over at the Elder’s,” Valerius wondered.
