Chapter 7:

WORDS OF AKIRA:WHERE WORDS FAIL,ACTIONS SPEAK A MILLION LETTERS

ONNAMUSHA

Always running after that blasted woman...
Two days have passed and I have been out cold,a massive pile of photos and written articles in a strange, hardly legible penmenship that I would not have assumed would have been from a notable samurai's daughter.
TWO DAYS!

I am going to save every shuriken she launches at my room and when this is over I may try my aim............

I find myself lying though,I still chase her and find myself in the heart of a wooded area by a dilapidated shrine where she stands watch over someone young and small. It appears to be a child that weeps over the bodies of a family.
The warrior woman crouches to take hold of the child shoulders and twist him towards her, holding the child tightly like a mother would walks him backwards to me.
She is actually headed my way and not running or laughing or throwing shurikens.

Too much is occurring and I needed that sleep but I am at more of a loss until I see what she does.
"Akira-San.Please take the child, there is a home two miles east of here.I can't pursue the creature with the child by.Please, scold me later."

I had never expected such genuine softness but I can not refuse her,I never have. The child does not wish to leave her arms, she must have been there a long time trying to console him and he initially fights my hold but she kisses his forehead and speaks softly to him.
Neither does it escape me how haggard she is beginning to look, her eyes are dark, the lines of her lips beginning to deepen.
"Can't be staring too long handsome, people will talk."

She mouths that too me and hastens off beyond the shrine, she has some nerve but the moment I relaxed watching her be shameless was the very moment the child stopped fearing me and began to weep softly on my shoulder.

3 hours later.

That woman evades me like a master thief and I always fall for it.
The home she mentioned was two hours west and I was at almost a full run for an hour before the child corrected my path, still speaking little else.I took him there and ensured to my best that he was safe until I could question him further if he is able and I return to the shrine in record time(perhaps I should take make her the all round photographer and I write it all safely at home so I can sleep and be this energetic more often).
I follow the path I saw her take and know in a short time that I am nearing her, although the stairway up is steep I progress it quickly,my camera I prepare on the run up,thrilled that I mastered how to do so upon hunting her at the beginning, the sounds become louder and louder of swords clashing and bullets dinging hard against some object or other and I catch sight of it and it shocks me deeply.

So deeply to my core that I just fall to my knees in sudden shock.
"What have you done Handsome Writer Man?You weren't supposed to see this."
Her words blend into the buzzing of my ears as I see much.
Far,far too much to bear right now.

"Having fun now lad?"

The words of my father hone in on my ears alone and sharp as though he stabbed them through with one of the Warrior Woman's daggers,I see his clothes tattered from her slashes and bullets and he stands there not even bothered by it all.
His eyes never leave mine, they no longer hold the mirth they once had that I took from him they bare a striking resemblance to a shark.
Devoid.

"Let me ask"Writer Man".Was it worth it?What you did to make a name for yourself? Was it worth it selling your old man for a nickel story and a less than that girl toy?And the folks at the lab thought I was the monstrous one!"

The Warrior Woman,my father takes her by the throat and holds her up she only looks on at me and not the scarred face of my father and she mouths to me.

"I tried to stop you.I am sorry....."

My father snaps her throat.
My father laughs.
And I...
I scream in shock.
