Chapter 28:

A Phoney Blessing

Re:Admin

The weight of tiredness was a heavy thing for Admin. It sunk into his bones and muddied his thoughts, making it hard to focus. But the rush he felt, that electric buzz that kept him wired, wouldn't let him quit. His eyes stung from staring at the screen too long, and he was breathing like he'd just run a race. Still, he kept going, all consumed by this urge that wouldn't let him rest. Time was ticking, and he knew it. Each tap on the keyboard, every little movement of the mouse as he zoomed through files, felt important. It was like he was walking a knife's edge between knowing what was going on and being totally lost, between fixing things and total disaster.

The light from the computer made his face look pale and a little ghostly, making the shadows under his eyes stand out. He looked older than his fifteen years. His hands shook a little as he dug deeper into all the files that made up Re:Admin. If you didn't know what you were looking at, it would just seem like a bunch of words, numbers, and symbols—total tech speak that only a computer person could get. But to Admin, every line of code felt like it was alive, filled with secret meanings, just waiting to be found underneath.

He leaned in close, trying to see even better in the glow of the screen. Every little note he found that had been tossed to the side, every hidden comment someone had written, felt like a clue left by someone who either wanted him to figure out what was going on or wanted him to be too late to do anything about it. His vision got swimmy, the words all jumbled together as he fought to stay awake, but he wasn't giving up. His heart was pounding in his ears. He knew somewhere in all this info, he'd find what he needed.

Then, just like that, he stumbled onto something. A secret folder, tucked away where no one would ever think to look.

Admin held his breath. Carefully, he opened it.

Inside, he saw things he didn't see coming: logs, like someone keeping track of everything with crazy detail. When he first looked at them, they seemed to show how the game worked—the basic stuff, the things that held it all together. But as he went further in, reading line after line, he knew this wasn't just boring, technical stuff. This was something creepy.

Then he saw it.

Blueprints. Pictures. Tech drawings.

His heart skipped. They weren't drawings of the game or maps of some level. No. They were pictures of his phone. The very phone he had with him in Mishanter’s World—the one he used to keep in touch, to fight, and to help him find his way.

At first, he thought it had to be a mistake. He knew what his phone looked like so well. The shape was so clear. It felt too real. But the more he looked, the more he knew it was true.

The files showed everything. How Aeriys had taken a normal phone and changed it into something unbelievable.

There were drawings of things that shouldn't be possible which showed channels of strange energy running through the chips, symbols mixed with boards. It was like some crazy mix of magic and tech that shouldn't exist.

Admin felt his chest tighten as he read more, words that were written in a way that was like a scientist writing a report, that made him feel cold all over:

Phone used as a way to send out energy. Parts changed to fit RCX code. Computer brain added to help the user and guide them to what we want them to do.

He took sharp, quick breaths. The phone wasn’t just a cool, magical thing Aeriys had given him. It wasn't a symbol of strength, like he thought. It was like something from a monster movie, a mix of tech and magic that should never have happened.

And it was made on purpose.

He kept going, and his eyes landed on a line that was hidden way down in the tech info. It was a short line, barely there, but when he read it, everything changed.

Run Program: On. Only special people can use it. How to information is available (see file: RCX_Summoning_Guide.txt).

Admin froze. His eyes darted back and forth, reading the words over and over, hoping they'd change. But they didn't.

A Run Program.

A secret way to make the phone go completely wild.

And next to it, a how to guide.

His stomach twisted. He felt sick as he realized what was happening. What kind of power was hidden in his phone? What could be so bad that it needed something called a Run Program?

He scrolled like crazy, his hands shaking so hard he almost dropped the mouse. Finally, hidden under layers of code that tried to stop him, he found it: RCX_Summoning_Guide.txt.

The name itself made him shiver.

His fingers hung over the mouse, unsure. He felt like he shouldn't open it. That some things were better left alone. That reading these words would take him somewhere he couldn't come back from.

But he couldn’t help himself. He had to know.

He clicked, and the file opened.

At first, it was just a bunch of nonsense—rows of symbols, energy numbers, and words that looked like they came from a computer book and a magic book at the same time. But as Admin's tired eyes adjusted, as his mind started to understand the rhythm, he figured it out.

It was something like a magic spell.

A careful guide on how to bring RCX into the world.

The words explained in scary detail how the phone would be used to start it, how certain energy numbers needed to be used, how special words had to be said out loud. It wasn't just about tech—it was about spirits, magic, science, all mixed together. It was like building a bridge between worlds. A door. A crack in reality where something huge and awful could come out.

Admin's chest felt tight. His heart was pounding as he understood what was happening. Aeriys hadn't given him the phone to be nice, or even just to help him survive. No. She had put it in his hands as a weapon that looked like a gift.

A trick.

A thing made to not help him, but to trick him into letting RCX into Mishanter’s World—into Earth.

He scrolled more, and his stomach sank again.

Hidden among the cold, tech writing was something worse: a message. Not written in the way a scientist or computer person would, but in words that felt like they were talking right to him.

The phone is ready to bring me here. Everything is set. You just need to RUN IT.

The me was RCX. The thing itself was there in the files.

Admin felt like he was freezing. He thought back to his time in Mishanter’s World. To every fight where the phone had saved him. He remembered when it had given him powers he didn't think he could have, the way it seemed to know what he needed, the way it had whispered ideas to him like it was a friend.

All this time, he had been carrying not just a tool, but something that could destroy everything.

His hands curled up into fists so tight his fingers turned white. His jaw tightened with anger.

He slammed his fist on the desk, making a loud noise in the quiet room. Papers flew around. The computer screen shook.

“She turned my phone into a bomb!” he shouted, his voice rough with anger. His whole body was shaking, his chest rising and falling as he spoke. “She wanted me to set RCX free!”

The words echoed back to him, but they didn't make him feel better. Only angry. Only like he had been betrayed.
