Chapter 0:

Training and Saving

The Snake’s Betrayal #2

It’s been a very long six months since Egake and I somehow escaped the Skyrip Kingdom. I had no idea what condition my mom would be in right now. Maybe she might have adopted a new son. I hope that hasn’t happened.

I have been training for at least six hours every day with my very strict—and huge pain-in-the-ass—snake teacher. I was pretty confident I had grown taller, stronger, and faster. In fact, maybe too fast. I could travel kilometers just like ninjas—jumping around trees, swinging like Tarzan, and even defeating Egake sometimes in tag games.

My reflexes were now much faster than any F1 race driver, and I could use my sword better than Miyamoto Musashi. I had no idea if it was because of the rigorous training I had with my half-mad teacher every day, who would kill me for any repeated mistake or for not following his orders, or if it was because of the magic fruit I ate. I believed in the second reason more because I don’t think any normal human could become as strong and fast as me in just six months of daily training.

Not only that, I was much faster and more accurate with my teleportation powers. My range even increased up to 10 meters. And because of that, my super-fast predator teacher had a very hard time even touching me during our not-so-friendly training fights every day. Sometimes he got so mad because of my powers that he threw super-fast rocks at me that could kill me instantly if I touched any. And I was doing all this just to save my beloved Miwa Senpai, who was alive and fine. I used to get information about her from a detective owl friend Egake had. The owl detective—whose name was Kami—was on neither side. He just worked for money, and I must admit he was a genius. With his powers, nobody could lie to him.

I also met 3–4 more snakes in these six months, and all of them hated me for no reason. But thanks to Egake’s terror, none of them had the courage to ever attack me.

I never—once in my life—thought all of these crazy things would happen to me. Teleporting to a new world, getting a snake mentor, gaining a superpower, or being on a mission to eliminate a crazy king to save a world—but the craziest thing that happened was when I, unknowingly, a month ago, found a glitch in my superpower. I can teleport some random non-living thing from our real world to this world! But only once a day.

I have teleported a lot of useless things from our world to this world: toys, empty plastic packets, random food items, oversized or undersized clothes, and even a wig. I just hope I didn’t get it from a man on his wedding day. Egake eats everything I teleport, because once I teleported a piece of fried chicken, which he hesitated to eat at first. But after eating it, he’s been forcing me every day—like the sunrise—when my power resets, to teleport it again. Just this morning, he warned me if I didn’t get a fried chicken piece this time, he would fry and eat me. But sadly, all I could teleport was a bra, which he ate too.

After that, I don’t know why, but my sleep broke and I woke up at 3 P.M., while Egake was sleeping like a dead man. I tried to sleep again, but something felt wrong today. Maybe my body wasn’t very tired, so I went for some extra training—teleporting myself in a straight line for 10 km and then sprinting back to our base. And since our area was very forest-dense, and now I am strong enough to take on an eagle alone, I wasn’t scared at all.

A girl, maybe 14 or 15, was running to save her life, an 8-foot snake behind her—cackling and howling. The girl was crying for her life. Her clothes were stained with her eagle guards’ blood.

“You can’t run from me, girl… haa… hah… haa,” the snake shouted. I knew the snake—his name was Rikage, and he hated me a lot.

“Please someone… anyone… save me!” her cry echoed through the forest. Her speed was definitely not enough for the snake to miss, but he was just playing with his food.

“I never tasted a human before. Please let me eat you… please… haa… haaha… haa.” His evil laugh was actually very scary. The girl was trying her best to save herself by running as fast as she could, but suddenly she tripped and fell. Her pretty face crashed to the ground, and blood started to come out of her nose.

When she somehow sat up again, she saw the deadly predator, double her size, watching her with his grisly green eyes, drool dripping from his mouth, and a weird ‘ssshhh’ sound coming from him.

“Please leave me, I haven’t done… anything to you,” the terrified, crying girl whispered.

“I know you haven’t done anything… but the thing is, shh girl: I don’t care. I just… want to taste you…” After saying this, the snake lunged at the girl with his fangs bared and tongue out. The girl’s tears left her eyes while she shut them—frozen in terror.

Fiiiii…

But suddenly, the snake crashed into a tree behind the girl, while she was safe and sound, right on a tree above him. She was obviously saved by me, the main character of this novel. Luckily, I was just passing by.

The girl opened her eyes and saw my—not-so-good-looking—face. But I could see a look of relief on her face. She was very pretty and cute. Her black hair and eyes surely resembled my Senpai. If I weren’t loyal to my Senpai, I would have fallen for her right then.

“What are you doing here, huh… human?” Rikage shouted.

“Me… nothing, just training. You know I couldn’t sleep at all,” I replied.

“I don’t care about all that. Just throw that girl down here,” Rikage ordered.

“Sorry, I’m afraid I can’t do that, Rikage. Go eat some rat; there are plenty here,” I said to him.

“You’re one too, you know that. I wish I could eat you too, but curse that Egake… Look, kid, if you want me to not come up there and hurt you, just give me the girl and run away…” Rikage was visibly pissed.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t do that either, Rikage. And I think you’re misjudging the situation here… If you don’t want me to come down there and hurt you, just run away,” I replied.

“What!…” Rikage stared at my face for a few seconds, then burst out laughing. “What did you say to me… Haa… haha… haah. You sure are funny. No wonder Egake liked you,” he giggled.

“Huhhh…” I took a long, disappointed breath. “I think you’re misjudging the situation again, Rikage… I’m not joking.”

“Okayyyy… I think I should thank you, because now I finally have a reason to kill you.” And after saying this, Rikage started to climb the tree—just like snakes do.

The girl panicked again and held my hand. “Don’t worry, I won’t let it hurt you… And can you please go on that tree branch?” I requested.

The girl jumped to another branch, and I drew out my sword. “I did warn you, Rikage,” I said. Then I cut the tree branch I was on, right at the junction. Because of gravity and my weight, the branch slammed into Rikage’s face pretty hard, and he fell back to the ground while I jumped and landed a few yards away from him.

“You think this much is enough to hurt me… huh?” Rikage shouted, blood coming from his head.

“Oh… is it not…” I murmured.

Fiii…

I teleported right beside Rikage and touched his tail.

Fiii…
Fiii…
Fiii…
Fiii…
Fiii…

We were 50 meters above the ground, but the difference was I could use my power to get to the tree next to us to save myself, while Rikage couldn’t.

Baaammm…

Rikage crashed to the ground, and because of his heavy weight, he was badly injured.

Fiiii…

“Now, run away, Rikage, if you don’t want to lose anything,” I suggested.

“You… you brat. I will kill you…” Rikage somehow shouted with his heavily injured body and jumped at me.

But the moment Rikage was halfway, completely in the air—

Fiii…

I teleported right next to him and used my sword this time. Rikage again crashed to the ground and looked back at me, confused. He knew something was wrong with his body. A few moments later, he realized it: I had partially severed his tail.

When Rikage saw his detached tail a few meters away, he was horrified and knew I was not a normal human.

“Now, run away, Rikage, if you don’t want to lose… your head this time,” I ordered. “Run to Kakage with your tail as soon as possible. He might be able to help you… And yeah, if you try to mess with me again… I’ll make sure you’re beyond saving and suffer a lot before you die.”

I could see terror in Rikage’s eyes. He never expected me to be that strong. He ran away as fast as he could, and I returned to the girl.

“You’re okay?” I asked, and she nodded. I was very happy—not only had I taught Rikage a lesson, but I had also tested my strength, and I was impressed with myself.

“So who are you, and what were you doing here?” I asked the girl.

“Actually… I ran away from my house. My name is Maya, and I am the daughter of… King Vojatu!!!!”
