The King's Gambit

In the lobby, the sound of footsteps caused Mimoko to turn around, only to find a dejected Yuusuke and an angry Okisato. "Yuusuke-kun, Tanabe-kun, what happened?"

"You should let him tell you first," Okisato sighed as Yuusuke sat down and pulled out his WWCF card.

Going back in time to the start of round 3, Yuusuke opened his game against Arii by moving his pawn to e4, with Arii responding with the predictable pawn to e5.

"Arii-chan... Her voice really is sexy, but hearing pure hate and disgust from it directed towards me... that's just too much. I've got enough people hating me, last I need is one of my idols too. I'll show you I'm not some wussy pushover," Yuusuke thought as he moved his pawn to f4.

"Huh? He dares to attack me with THAT!? What an incel," Arii thought as she captured the pawn at f4 with her e-pawn.

But Yuusuke had done some research regarding the King's Gambit, and had a plan in mind as he moved his knight to f3. "I'm not gonna get shaken. I'm gonna make all of you eat your words on me!" he thought as Arii moved her pawn to g5.

He then moved his bishop to c4, but Arii was in no mood to entertain a Muzio and instead of moving her pawn to g4, moved her knight to c6.

"Wait, she's going for Blachly? I know that. Okaa once had a game where someone played that against her. I remember right, there's a trick if you first set up d4," Yuusuke thought as he moved his pawn to d4.

But Arii wouldn't play like Hagemi's opponent did, choosing to be aggressive and move her knight to a5.

"Shit. I thought she'd go g4, then I could play that Muzio-esque trick Okaa played. Knight a5 feels wrong though. Wait! That's it!" Yuusuke giddily thought as he captured the pawn at f7 with his bishop. "Check! How ya like me now, Arii-chan? Wanna apologize n' give me an autography?" he smirked aloud.

The violent clattering of Arii's teeth resonated throughout the area as she furiously captured the bishop at f7 with her king.

"Oh don't wrinkle your face yet, you backstabbing bitch, I got more checks where that came from," Yuusuke grinned as he moved his knight to e5.

Arii nearly spat right in Yuusuke's face as she moved her king to g7, veins pulsating on her face, forehead, and eyes.

"She's really pissed. I think I can win this now with one more aggressive push," Yuusuke thought as he moved his queen to h5.

Unfortunately, things were in even to slight advantage for Arii territory. If Arii were to find the best move of queen f6, a draw would be the best Yuusuke could hope for if perfect play ensured thereafter. He had failed to see that move, but so too did Arii, who moved her queen not to f6, but e7 instead.

Yuusuke's face beamed with glee. "I see it! I'm gonna get a cool win!" he thought as he captured the pawn at f4 with his bishop.

The move had greater effect than intended as Arii's mouth dropped with shock. "Wh- What the fuck!? No, NO! Did I fall into a fucking mating trap!? Fucking incel! Fine, take the pawn!" she angrily thought as she moved her knight to b3.

"Uh, guess you're queen is screwed?" Yuusuked happily huffed in his mind as he captured the pawn at g5 with his bishop.

Now true tearful rage hit Arii as she stared madly at the table, letting loose a loud agonized screech as she captured the knight at e5 with her queen.

"Downed by a pawn. Should've taken my bishop, but now you get nothing," Yuusuke thought as he captured the queen at e5 with his d-pawn.

"YOU FUCKING INCEL! YOU CAN'T BEAT ME! CHECK!" Arii screeched as she moved her bishop to b4.

"Uh, pretty sure I'm winning. Might already be in a forced mate," Yuusuke thought as he moved his pawn to c3.

"DON'T LOOK AT ME WITH THAT SMUG CONDESCENDING LOOK! CHECK!" Arii shouted, tears blasting down her face, as she captured the pawn at c3 with her bishop.

"Yeah, definitely close to mate," Yuusuke thought as he swept up the bishop at c3 with his knight.

Indeed he was right as at maximum, he was 6 moves away from winning barring no blunders. Arii, meanwhile was completely in tears as she moved her pawn to h6, sensing the inevitable and humiliating mate awaiting her. Her rage and agony continued to peak thanks to Yuusuke stylishly castling king's side to get his rook to f1, leaving Arii with no choice but to move her rook to h7 to try and delay the mate.

"I'm gonna beat you! Everyone's gonna be just as dumbstruck when I tell them! Check!" Yuusuke gloated as he moved his bishop to f6.

Arii let loose another agonized scream as she captured the bishop at f6 with her knight.

"Now THIS is how you sac your bishops right," Yuusuke thought as he grinned and captured the knight at f6 with his rook.

Arii instantly retaliated by capturing the rook at a1 with her knight, but it didn't matter as after another check in the form of queen g6, it was a move away from mate.

"NO! NO! I'M GOING TO LOSE TO THIS INCEL! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!" Arii cried aloud, too stressed to realize she was shouting, as she moved her king to h8.

"And checkmate to you, bitch! That's what you get when you backstab a stan in a backwater dungeon," Yuusuke grinned as he moved his rook to f8, winning the game.

Arri let loose one final agonized scream before foaming at the mouth and passing out on the spot, completely humiliated. Despite the round 1 loss to Okisato, Yuusuke was bouncing back into contention.
