Chapter 4:
Kingdom of light: Stories untold
Wandering the lands,
Helping the people,
Abiding by the light…
Raijin and Astra weren't the only ones who wandered the Lawless Lands, for there was another. He was known by almost everyone as a nomad of sorts. Nobody knows when he arrived, but he's been around long enough to be well known. He walked around in a dirty white, full-body poncho that went down to his ankles. His legs seemed fine, but he walked around with a stick, using it as a cane of sorts. His head remained uncovered, his sleek black hair flowed back as the length remained the same forever, his eyes were a dull blue, many people admired them as it was an odd color to have for one's eyes. He aided the people whenever asked, some people revered him as a herald because of it. He healed the sick and strengthened the weak. Many people wished to follow him as disciples, but he never allowed it, his only answer to the question when asked was that the path he walked was to be walked by him alone. His path would eventually cross with a young Raijin, where he would offer him his second-ever defeat.
The fight lasted for two days. Raijin relied on his katana while the Wanderer fought back using his cane. Raijin took serious offence to it, he saw it as him mocking him, but the Wanderer insisted he was doing no such thing and that he took the fight very seriously. As the fight went on, Raijin found out that he was telling the truth. He began to enjoy the battle, as not many people could contest him like this, it was refreshing. People came and left as they watched it go on. Not many people wanted to stay and watch the whole thing, but one boy did. In his attempt to watch the whole thing from a safe distance, he fell asleep on the spot, waking up to the sound of steel and thunder, although while he could hear it, he could not see it. The fight between two beings was so interesting that bets were made on who would win. Many people bet on Raijin while others bet on the Wanderer, and to everyone's surprise, Raijin lost. The Wanderer stayed the night at the invitation of Raijin, to a few cups of alcohol, he also invited the whole village they were staying at to a feast, the people accepted with glee. The night was filled with color, with people celebrating and enjoying the foods Raijin had gifted them. The Wanderer and Raijin sat together, talking about all kinds of things. Wanderer had asked Raijin why he constantly sought battle. He replied that battling the strong brought him joy, and that he wanted to prove that no matter how much strength one obtains, one will fall in the end, the same going for him as well. Raijin also fights because he believes he has forgotten something, something dear to him, and the only way for him to ever get close to it is by fighting.
For the first time, the Wanderer had experienced real joy. When he helped people, he felt the smallest hint of happiness, but that was very brief, this was more permanent. For he had discovered the joy of a friend. It was an exhilarating feeling for him, he downed cup after cup alongside his new friend long into the night. The people had fallen asleep where they were, too tired to go home. Raijin woke to the light of the rising sun, but the Wanderer was nowhere to be seen. He had left his cane behind for Raijin. A note was left as well that thanked him. When Raijin picked up the wooden stick, it glowed a bright light before it wrapped itself around his hand, covering his flesh in a wooden gauntlet. This would go on to become the Thunder gods gauntlets. From then on, nobody had seen the Wanderer, almost as if he had vanished forever, that very night.
