Chapter 2: The Talisman

"Hey, Riz, I have a question for you" a random classmate beside me asked with a lollopop in her mouth, breaking the silence of me watching as the others make the statue
"What?"
"If you expected the unexpected, was it unexpected?"

"What?"
It was the third day of making the statue, and a girl in my class named Tina, the goth girl asking some random question.
She is always wearing this dark chocker, dark leather jacket, dark jeans and dark knee high boots. She has a dark headset resting on her neck with music on.
"Anyway, why do you keep holding that box? Is something from Shari important to you?" She asked as she pointed the box on my hand
"You think I am going to dig up this talisman which tortured me in the process and then suddenly later a news came by that someone stole the talisman. No! I can't just let that happen"
She took the lollipop out of her mouth, making a pop sound.
"Understandable"
Tyler wiped the sweat on his head and looked at me.
"Yeah it's kinda puny for Mr. Muscleman work this kind of thing" he said to me
I pointed to myself in confusion "Me? Mr. Muscleman?"
"Yeah, there's this image of you going around lately" he took his phone out of his pocket and showed the screen to me "Nice muscles you got there"
It was an image of me digging. Don't tell me it was Shari.
"I didn't know Riz have that body"
"Yeah, he looked thin wearing a jacket"
"Riz may be musculine and handsome, but he is not my type"
Huh? There are three girls whispered behind me. Damn, talking behind my back like that?
"Hihi" 
I looked at Tina, she was grinning at me after hearing the whispers. She patted my back.
"I wonder how many girls you can pull. The thing that it already spread in section Lemon and Orange"
"Shut up"
How the hell a single scene yesterday ends up like this? Tche, nevermind.
I opened the box, the big round talisman was properly placed. It was made of gold and silver with lines of patterns of a veins and thorns of a rose, but one rose in the middle is withered but has no thorn on its veins. It is resting on a gold and silver lace made out of medium sized chain connected to the talisman.
I slapped my forehead.
Why don't I just wear the talisman around my neck instead of just carrying it around in a box? I'll just hide the box and put it back when everything is over.
I carried the talisman by the chain and wore it around my neck. I was expecting it to be that heavy but working out made it lighter. I hid it beneath my shirt.
Crash
Something crashed on my head, shattering into pieces. I was startled but infazed, the others were shocked and screamed. I looked down to the ground, it looked like pieces of a light bub.
I looked above, there is an empy socket. Yep, it is a light bulb, but why would the light bulb fall until now? Light bulbs falling is legendary rare.
"Oh my! Are you okay? Are you not bleeding?" Tina said as she is covering her mouth
I rubbed my head "Yeah I am okay" 
"Hey Riz, can you come here for a second?" Shari shouted from the door waving her hand
"I'm coming"
Snap
Ponk
Something suddenly snapped above me and hit my forehead. It was a long tube light that hit my head.
"Wahahaha!" Shari started laughing, the others in the room were silent
I looked at the pen on someone's table, I kinda want to take it, but why? Why would I want to take the pen for no reason. There is something, something making me want to take the pen.
I started walking towards it, it was uncontrollable.
!? 
My leg suddenly stuck on something hard, tripping me down. My face bumped on to another table, then fell to the ground.
I stood up as I used a another table to support me up. I hold my nose. There is... Something wrong here, something that is not right.
"Wha-what is happening to you Riz!?" Tina stuttered
"I-I don't know"
"Hey president! See if someone out the door" Tyler shouted
Shari looked at the around "There is no one here, just people walking around"
My hand started slipping, suddenly, my hand pushed the table on the side downwards. The table spun and hit me on the right shoulder.
"Woah, Riz is tanking everything" Tyler muttered might be that muscle body of his"
I remove the talisman off my neck. Not going to be that kind of guy but this might be the talisman's doing. By the time I wore it, everything started attacking me, or I think bad things started happening to me.
Each talisman gives unique blessing and curses to the wearer. I was expecting for it to be hard recognize but it was not. 
I was so blind thinking of safekeeping the talisman that I wore it without worrying and thinking what it does.
"You are wearing the talisman!?" Shari yelled "Don't you know what it does to you when you wear one!?"
"I just forgot about it" I fixed everything that was affected and went back to place the talisman back in the metal box properly
Tyler laughed "Oh wow, I can't believe Riz had a lot of nerve to wear a talisman!"
"Pro tip for you Riz" Tina shook her head "Never wear a talisman around your neck"
I took one last look at the talisman. My eyes focused on the withered rose on the center.
Out of all the other live and beautiful roses, the withered one on the very center is the only one that has no thorn on its vein. 
Everything has a meaning behind it, but after experiencing what the talisman do to you, I don't think I need to be curious what it means and what it does.
