Chapter 3: Suddenly Alive
School Project Disaster
Seventh day of making the statue. The paint finally dried.
"Okay guys, start putting the horns, pitchfork, or whatever we add" Hanz announced
People started putting the horns with screws on the head. They insterted the pitchfork on the hand, they pasted the sharp nails on the feet and hands. They all collaborated lively.
I held the talisman, waiting for them to finish. Here I am again, standing like a total ghost.
"So, for the final?" A voice crept beside me
It was Tina again with a lollipop in her mouth. I am kinda surpried she is mostly the one noticing me unlike the others. She is like keep her attention to details.
"I'll wait for them to put everything"
"Don't wear that talisman again. It cause such a total destruction to you that other day"
"I'll keep that in mind"
I stepped forward and placed the talisman on its forehead. I tied it with a clip on the chain to keep it tight and falling off.
"Huh!? On the forehead!?" Aira yelled in surprise "Are you stupid or something?"
"It's okay Aira, it was a common practice for demons in the old times to ward off evils. Don't you know?" Tina answered for me
"Tch, wh-whatever" Aira walk away
"Huh, I didn't know our top student doesn't know about history" Tina muttered
"Yow, Tina and Riz. Good morning"
Tyler greeted us with a wave, walking beside him was Shari. Wow, somehow today, they started noticing me unlike a ghost.
Not sure what these morons want from me but I'll just keep going with the flow.
"M-moron?" Tyler grabbed me by the shoulder with wide eyes and fidgeting smile, a sweat run down my face "I kinda want to tighten my grip on you but I am afraid with your muscles"
Oh yeah, I forgot he can read minds.
"Hey, Riz, can you find Klyne for me? Tell her the statue is ready. She can now put the necklace she made"
I nodded, and started walking towards the door.

I stopped and turn around.
"Who's Klyne again?"

"Eh?"

I found Klyne on the middle of the hallway, talking with her two friends.
Why am I peeking behind this pillar? I looked like a total stalker.
I looked around, people just pass by me. Oh yeah I forgot, I am such a total ghost.
I approached behind Klyne and cleared my throat.
"Ahem, Klyne"

She didn't heard me, still talking to her friend. Even her friends who are facing me don't notice me.
"Klyne!?" I raised my voice
Still talking to her friends. Time to do my secret technique. I took a deep breath in... And out.
Ghost Cloak Deactivation
"Boo!"
"Waaaaahhh!"
They all jumped and screamed. Klyne turned around.
She sighed in relief and put her hand on her chest on her pounding heart "Riz! You scared me!"
The powerful technique that I use. Tyler tried to do it to others, but it don't work. Only I can execute it. I don't know why, the technique is just saying 'boo' and then they suddenly notice and hear me with a jumpscare.
One of Klyne's friend punched me on the chest. "Stop doing that! You are going to give us a heart attack!"
"Hellooo? I've been calling Klyne's name for like 100 times!" I lied, I just only called her name 2 times but still...
"Okay, sorry. What do you want?"
I raised my hand out to her "The necklace for our project"
"Oh yeah, I forgot"
She take out a necklace out of her pocket. The sides have fangs hanging, made out of papier mache. But on the middle is a hanging circle gong.
"Thank you for reminding. I might forget it when class starts"

"You got the necklace?" Shari asked
I nodded and showed her the necklace.
"Good, just go put it on the statue"
I went onfront of the statue. I looked at the necklace on my hand and looked up at the demon statue, nearly tall as I am. I raised myself up by the feet and started sliding the necklace down to its neck.
!?
I accidentally moved the lace of the talisman. It slided down with the necklace. They both hit the base of the neck. I stared at the face of the demon statue. It's eyes looking straight.
...
Nothing happens, why did I suddenly got paranoid and felt something bad? Oh well, just put the talisman back on the forehead.
Before I could move the talisman, it's eyes suddenly moved, looking and staring at me.
"Huh?"
I felt a sudden pain on my stomach, it felt like a strong punch. I flew and crashed on the chairs behind me.
People inside the classroom screamed after hearing the sudden noise and looked.
"What happened?"
The statue started moving it's body and flapping it's wings. It stepped out of the baseplate.
"Aahhhh!!! Our statue started moving!"
"What?" A person peeked through the door.
Tyler ran to the door and closed it on time.
"Sorry, our uhhh, school project is a secret"
"Woah, they said their statue is moving while ours looked bland and lifeless. I can't wait for them show it"
I stood up and spat and wiped my mouth, the spat flew out the window.
The statue is m-moving!? Impossible, life exist when there are organs and conscious.... Or spirit if that is even possible I just read it from a book.
It threw it's pitchfork at my head, I dodged it on time. The pitchfork bounced of it contact, of course it was not sharp, but it is heavy and hitting you will still do some damage.
I looked at the statue again.
!?
It is infront of me, raised fist. I raised my arms to block.
"Guwaaaa!"
It hit my forearms, it's fist was very hard like a stone, my arms got immobilized. A single muscle moved on the forearm hurts.
This is the first time I felt such a painful experience in my whole life.
I can't move my arms, I have no choice but to use it. It may cost me trouble, but my survival comes first.
I put my right forearm on top of my left forearms.
"7 Hands Shadow"
7 shadowy long hands emerged behind my back. They are eerie, dark, wavering, fuming dark shadow smoke.
"Woah, is that Riz's Awakening ability?"
"What are you doing Riz!? You are going to get yourself in trouble!" Aira shouted
I just gave her a menacing look, then looked back at the alive demon statue. It started throwing punches at me, I dodge going backwards. He hit every tables and chairs on its way.
It landed a hit on my side of my stomach, I flew and crashed on on the middle row. I held on my painful side stomach.
I should do something before it gets worse.
I ordered one of my shadow arms to punch the statue. My shadow arm hit it's shoulder, a clump of the papier mache flew. It didn't show any signs of pain.
Wait, that's it! If I crumble it to pieces, it might stop! Maybe. One shadow arm carried a chair and threw it to the face. It only made small dent.
It roared and ran up to me. My shadow arm carried me to safety before the demon unleashed an attack an attack on me. The talisman started glowing.
*Thuck*
Something hard hit my head, it was the pitchfork. It is recalling it's pitchfork! It raised the pitchfork and threw it at me.
My shadow arms put it's hands in front of ke to block. It made a loud thud noise, I slided backwards. The statue started approaching me slowly, menacingly.
I... I have to do this attack before everything is at risk. It might going to destroy the chairs, but as long as this thing die, it is for the good.
"Gatling Gun!"
In speed, my shadow arms unleashed a fury speed at the statue like gatling gun.
The statue started breaking down to pieces, papier maches flew. It started getting smaller and smaller, until it's head remained. I stopped and looked at it at the eye.
It gave me one last look and stopped moving.
"That was epic!" Tyler yelled
"What do you mean epic!? That was scary!"
"Okay class, recess is over-"
The teacher came in and stopped. He looked at me and the thrashed class in horror. There are people outside the door, mumbling and muttering what the hell were the sound about.
One noticed my shadowy arms.
"Oops! Looks like someone is in trouble!"

"Please just get back to class. Don't disturb" Tyler shut the door in front of the crowd's faces
The principal tapped it's pen on his table. It's glasses flashing I can't see his eyes.
"It's been a long time since this rule has been violated" the flash of the left lense dissapeared, I could see his left eye "You've been in this school for 2 years now and never ever violated a single rule, Riz. I was looking up to you and decided to make you the best non violating student of the school but today, you violated a rule that shouldn't be violated. Why?"
"W-we can explain for him principal!" Tyler stammered, waving his arms "Our statue for the school competition started moving! It started attacking Riz! The statue was made so papier mache and it was so hard a human fist can't hit it so he had no choice but he used his Awakening Ability for his safety!"
"And look" Shari grabbed my elbows and raised my arms, showing my weakened forearms "The statue punched his arms he can barely move them! Please principal, give him a chance"
"The same excuse 4 years ago"
He hummed and thinked.
"Okay, I am giving you a chance. I will only give you 3 school detention and still keep your streak as a non violating student. Is that okay to you, any objections?"
