Chapter 16:

The Mysteries Of The Past : Part Two

The Creature Hunter: Soul Of The Wind

The woman lead me to the room where the kid was and said with a smile,

"You will stay in this room from now on and Yuma will be your roommate. If you ever feel scared or If something bad happens, you can call me anytime, Ok?"

Then as she said that, the man shouted from the back of the house,

"Giselle! Come and help me with this!"

"I'll be there in a second!"

She looked at me one last time and said,

"Get along well, ok?"

Then she closed the door and left there.

Despite the man's scary look, his wife was such a nice lady.

I really didn't know but, at that moment, I felt pretty safe. And now, I was alone in the room with that boy. He was just sitting on the ground and was reading his book. So as not to distract him, I slowly walked towards him and sat near him.

We weren't talking but whenever I looked at him, I found him looking at me. He just lifted his book whenever I did.

But that wasn't my biggest problem. I was still thinking about how I came here.

It was just like a movie, I disappeared from the real world in seconds and my mother was with me while that happened. She was with me seconds ago before I came here but now it just feels like it is all a dream or it was my imagination.

All of them felt like they were too much to deal with.

But while I was thinking, the boy suddenly approached me, put his book on the ground, sat in front of, and said,

"My father said that you got lost. Don't you really remember where you came from?"

Since he asked it that so suddenly, I didn't know what to say.

He then said,

"Do you remember anything?"

"No. I don't. I really don't know how it happened either." I replied slowly, with a shy voice tone.

Then he smiled, opened a page on his book, and said,

"Actually there is something we can do about this."

The page that he showed had different pictures that were drawn on it and every picture had a description under them.

"Here! This spell right here."

He showed one of the pictures and said,

"It helps you to put someone into sleep or make them sleep quicker. It may look useless, but maybe they might have used it on you somehow. Also, it isn't classified as a "Dark Magic" so it can be used by many people."

I asked confused,

"Wait? Dark Magic?"

"Yeah. Dark Magic is also known as the "Life Stealer" magic."

"Why do they call it like that?"

"Most people don't use black magic, because it shortens your life and gives you a cursed one instead. It is said that there are some other effects, other than shortening lifetime. For example, like attracting cursed and dangerous magical creatures. And this effect can not be lost throughout your life. That's why everyone stays away from it."

Dark Magic? Magical Creatures? It all seemed dangerous, but I kept listening to find out more.

Then he quickly opened another page on the book and showed me. It was just like the other page. There were spells and there were their descriptions.

He once again showed one of the spells and said,

"And here! This one here makes someone see a hallucination about anything. If somebody did this to you, maybe you thought you were from another world. But I don't think that is possible since a hallucination can't change your mind that easily, since you are at this age."

I was almost sixteen years old and I was still a kid, But he was right about that. I couldn't get mislead by a single hallucination. I can make out the difference whatever it happened or not. And I couldn't think that my whole life would be a whole "Illusion" and such.

"But this one is classified with dark magic. Almost nobody uses it, and it is just there to inform people."

Then he opened the last page and showed one last spell.

But unlike others, there was no explanation for this spell. There was a picture on it, seemed like it was a picture drawn by imagination. And there were only theories written under it.

"What is this spell?" I asked.

He looked at me and replied,

"This is a special level spell. It started to appear out in the last few years, and people can't stop theorizing about it enough. And even if it is classified as a" special " class, it has not harmed any people so far. The number of people who have already seen it is also quite small, and it is also unknown how it appeared or for what purpose."

Then he looked at me and said,

"But that is what excites me the most."

He then looked at the book again, turned the pages slowly, and said,

"I saw very different spells till this day, but this is the most mysterious one that I have saw. And I really don't know why, but it gets me the most excited!"

I then asked,

"But why are you reading these kinds of books?"

He replied with a thoughtful attitude,

"I guess it is because I really like spells. They can be dangerous and dark sometimes, but they can be strong, powerful, and cheerful too. I thought about being a "Creature Hunter" and finding out about different creatures since they had permission to almost everywhere. But I didn't felt it was for me. That's why I want to become a great sorcerer and make spells that will help people and make them happier."

He looked like he knew a lot about the situation on the spells and spoke very fluently about them. But the more he told me, the more questions that covered my head.

Then I asked him one more time,

"I understand that there are spells and sorcerers, but what is a Creature Hunter?"

"Oh! I forgot to tell you!"

He then closed his book and started to tell me something,

"Although there are sorcerers and witches here, there are also creature hunters. And the task of Creature Hunters is to eliminate creatures that pose a danger to humans, and in return, they receive a fee. But there are also those who do it for money, those who do it for self-improvement, or those who do it just because they think the good of people."

Then he said,

"Isn't that cool?"

Creature and Creature Hunters, huh? All of these sorcerers, witches, creature hunters, and creatures things. They were all so hard to accept. And how many times I have tried to think about them, I just couldn't believe it.

While I was about to dive into my thoughts again, The boy realized something and said,

"Oh! I forgot to ask your name! What is your name?"

I replied with a shy tone,

"Orano. Orano Tatsumi."

"I'm Yuma. Yuma Daisuke. Nice to meet you." he replied smiling.

Then he said,

"My dad probably didn't tell you his name and probably my mother too. Their name is Giselle and Roam if you ever need to call them out."

Giselle and Roam? Oh, that's right. I heard the man calling out to her before she left here. So these are their names.

Then Yuma smiled and said,

"Do you want to know a little bit more about the sorcerers and the creature hunters? I am sure you will be surprised."

Then I nodded and we started talking again.

We spend a very long time talking with each other, and I have learned so many things from him. It was all confusing at the start, but the more he told, the more I understood. And after nightfall, our time to go to sleep had finally arrived.

Even we didn't realize when we fell asleep.

But it was a long night after all. There were questions on my head, but I know I had to wait to find them out.
