Chapter 1:
Godless Moon
HONK!
As the boy looked to the left, a huge Box truck was driving towards him. The brakes screech, but it doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. The raindrops are slowing down.
"I can see the drops slowly falling…"
The truck, now only a few meters away from him, whilst Edward is still looking at the raindrops.
50 meters…
“Hey, bro get out of the way”
HONK!
40 meters…
The truck is still honking, but this time holding down the horn.
“GET OUT OF THE WAY!”
30 meters…
It’s beautiful…
20 meters…
10 meters…
SWISH!
Suddenly, the boy was pulled back, the sudden force causing him to nearly trip and fall.
Still clutching his umbrella, the boy looked behind him, the truck zooming past, just barely missing the boy and continuing on its way.
“Are you stupid!?”
“Watch the street, dumbass!”, The boy yelled.
He was a middle sized boy, about 173 cm, or maybe 175? He had brown, short hair. On him a dark black coat with red stitching and some sort of crest on the left pocket. His eyes, the color of aquamarine. Proper shoes, the type you would wear to the most important business meeting of your life.
“You nearly died!”
“Don’t you have anything to say!?”
The boy stared at him, still dumbfounded and unfazed. Still spaced out, his umbrella still protected him from the rain that was distracting him.
Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. Thanks, Jonathan.
Jonathan sighed, hands on his face, annoyed and frustrated.
If you were really sorry, you wouldn’t do it again. This is the second time this month, Edward. Get it together.
“I’m not going to be able to save you every time.”
“Is that kid crazy?”
What was he thinking, standing on the road like that?
People were whispering. Jonathan heard it all, but Edward could care less.
Mommy, look at him! He almost died!
“Never do that ok sweetie? That’s so dangerous! He probably has some kind of mental illness… Poor child…”
“What’s a mental illness mommy?”
Edward froze when he heard that. Jonathan, noticed it as well, and looked at Edward, seeing if he was alright.
The lights go green, and the people start moving, not minding anymore what kind of crazy idiot Edward was.
C'mon, man, let’s just get out of here and go to school.
…
Yeah, let’s go.
