Chapter 2:

Skyrip Again!

The Snake’s Betrayal #2

“So, how are we going to cross this river?” I asked Maya.
“I don’t know,” she replied.
“Wait, but you’ve crossed this river before, right? When you ran away from here?” I questioned.
“Ohh… actually, my friend Julie helped me cross this river that day. She’s also an eagle and a very loyal servant to me, and she’s been taking care… and you know, one day …”

I swear to God, if she wasn’t such a pretty girl but a boy instead, I would have punched him in the face for giving me a 10,000-word answer for every single question. But after concluding all that Maya told me up till now throughout our journey, I was able to conclude that this Julie-eagle had been a loyal servant of Maya since she was five, and Maya was also teleported here too and still had some memories of her past life on Earth. Since the King and his Wife were not able to have their own kids because of some medical reasons, they started abducting children from Earth to this world.

The king has a total of five kids, and his age is 46. And since he lost his wife two years ago, he’s gone completely insane—and even Maya knows that. He doesn’t talk or meet anyone and has shut himself in his castle, just waiting for all the snakes to be wiped out from this planet.

“Hey Cid-kun, can I tell you a joke? It’s really funny. I told it to my father when I was nine, and he couldn’t stop laughing. He also told me that if I…”
“Ok… okkk, just tell me the joke first,” I interrupted her.
“Ok… So once there was an eagle named Rat. He was so scared of rats that he used to live and sleep in the clouds to avoid any contact with them, but still, his rat-dreams didn’t let him sleep peacefully. One day, he decided that he wouldn’t be scared of rats anymore, so he came down to the land to see his mom. The moment Rat’s mom saw him, she shouted his name with happiness—but the moment he heard his name he got scared and he flew back to the clouds again… Haa… Aa… Haaa.”

Maya burst out laughing, and I was confused whether I should laugh at the joke or at myself for hoping the joke would actually be good. I knew I had to figure out a way soon to get into the Skyrip kingdom to save Miwa. But the ‘Shil’ river was always a nuisance to me.

“I have one more joke… It’s even funnier, you know. So once there was an eagle named Snake…”
“Stop! Let us first figure out how we can cross this river… Ok?” I interrupted her again, too tense to hear any more of her dumb jokes.

“Don’t worry, I know a way. You see that spot over there? My friend Julie will be there in a few hours to take a bath. Once I call her, she’ll help us cross this river.” Maya told me

That was actually a good idea, but those one and a half hours of Maya’s non-stop chatter nearly killed me. I was too relieved to see her eagle friend Julie, who was actually quite a pretty female eagle. Her muscular body was surely a little scary for me, but since I was with her friend whom I had saved from a deadly snake a few days ago, I was fine—or was I?

I saw her friend Julie beat the hell out of a male eagle guard who was trying to peek on her while she was bathing. After she was done and we checked there were no eagles around. Maya started shouting her name and shaking her hands, and after a few tries, Julie noticed her. She took a few seconds, stared at me as if analyzing me, and the very next moment, she attacked me!

She was so fast crossing the river and attacking me that I didn’t even get a chance to justify myself. Her talons were holding my sword tight while she was crashing me into trees and she was also trying to bite off my eyes with her strong, razor-like beak. Maya was shouting her name, but the increasing distance between us made her voice too low for Julie to hear.

Julie thought I was a danger to Maya since I had a sword in my hands, but now it was too late to make her understand the complete story. I was too high in the air, and a few beak attacks had already etched scars on me.

Fii……

I teleported right above her and grabbed her neck as hard as I could. She was shocked too—her rage was on another level, yet calm. I knew I needed to use force to stop her.

Fiiii…..
Fiiiii…..

Baaaam!
We both crashed into a tree, but I was able to minimize the damage by using her birdly, soft, cushion-like body as a shield.
But I was a little injured too from falling from such a height. I thought that attack was enough to stop the beast, but she was too stubborn and strong. She attacked me again, but this time with more rage and knowledge about my powers.

Will I survive this deadly attack? I was not very sure.

Hey before going. If you are real, pls comment something. I want to see if actual people are reading my story
