A Glimpse into the spirit world

Riko screamed and threw himself off his bed , sprinting toward his bedroom door .

he dashed into the living room , shouting 

Dad ! Mom ! get out here - there's something in my room ! didn't you hear that ?!

his parents turned to him , sitting calmly in front of the TV , looking puzzled 

what's wrong , Riko ? did you have a nightmare ?

No , there's a monster in the house - huge one !

But strangely , they showed no reaction at all .

even as the creature burst out of his room , smashing furniture and roaring like thunder , his parents didn't move-didn't even see it

what's going on ?

Riko backed away , panic rising in his chest retreating toward the front door.

just as the monster lunged at him ....

A flash of light split through the darkness

three shadous appeared out of nowhere

Rina , Aki and Kaito stood before him , each wielding a glowing spiritual weapon , their eyes locked on the beast .

Get back ! Aki shouted

she kicked the monster with incredible force , sending it stumbling back ward.

Kaito followed up , silicing through its torso with a swift , precise strike .

Rina dashed forward , her sword tracing a thin blue line through the air , cutting cleanly across the creature's body .

the beast let out a distorted roar before bolting out through the wall

the three of them chased it into the back street .

there ,  Rina leapt high and drove her blade straight into its chest .

the monster's from shimmered , then slowly dissolved into threads of blue light ....

which her sword absorbed one by one until nothing was left .

Breathing heavily , Riko approached , his eyes wide in disbelief .

what ... what was that ?! why couldn't my parents see it ? and what about the noise - no one heard that ?

Kaito answered calmly , sheathing his spiritual weapon .

Because we're within the boundaries of the Spirit World

here , ordinary people don't exist - only us ... and the spirits .

As the four of them walked back toward Riko's house , he looked around in awe 

the streets felt darker , the air theavier 

even his home looked different - until , as they stepped inside , it suddenly appeared perfectly normal again , as if nothing had ever happened .

Rina's cold stare found him again , sending chills down his spine .

you said you couldn't sense spirits , right ?

Riko nodded awkwardly .

yeah , I did 

she placed a hand on her hip

liar , you just said that to get my number , didn't you ?

Aki rolled her eyes , disgusted 

oh , seriously ... you're gross

Riko flailed his arms , panicking

No , I couldn't feel anything ! I don't even know how I ended up in that world !

Kaito stepped forward , his calm yet firm voice cutting through their chatter 

we're a team now , It's our job to teach Riko everything about the spirit world ... and how to fight .

Rina gave a small nod 

Aki sighed , reluctantly agreeing

Riko chuckled softy and took a step closer to them , smiling 

By the way , I haven't properly intrduced myself .

I'm Riko Asahiro , your new teammate , I'll do my best not to be a burden .

Kaito smiled back kindly , while Rina and aki exchanged quiet glances .

it was the beginning of something new _ a mission whose destimation none of them could yet see .
