Chapter 12:

Marriage

My little sister

Ryuji looked in the mirror, his cheeks flushed, even if it was just seeing himself in a suit and tie. It reminded him what today was. It was the day for him and his little si- no for him and his long time lover to finally share each other in matrimony.

They felt love, lust and much more together and to finally have a symbol branding one another on their finger for the rest of their lives. Being a catalyst of memories and emotions representing their love. He looked at his empty ring finger and his body shivered. Nervous and filled with anticipation he knew it was nothing for today's bride. She had been running around the house rounding up hundreds of phone numbers she wanted to invite to the wedding, though Ryuji made sure that only the ones he thought would be happy to be there would attend.

Not many people ended up being invited and even fewer attended. He was pretty sure that because the wedding had been in such a humble venue that some people didn’t take it seriously. Especially since they weren’t going to get a priest to ordain them. Since they were biological siblings they couldn't get married in a way the state recognized so they were basically playing pretend but that didn’t matter to the two of them. They were getting married, this will be the happiest day of their lives.

He looked in the mirror to see his best friend Ado on his left and on his right was his editor, Clare. He was a very refined person with long hair that commonly formed a ponytail, and the clothes that beckoned them the most regardless of occasion was a red band suit with a striped tie. His face was sharp and was accented by glasses and a split tongue. You might not even notice it unless you speak to them rather consistently since they never show it off. Ryuji sighed before looking over his left shoulder nervously,

“You think this looks flashy enough? I know I’m wearing a suit jacket but it just kinda looks like I threw it on over my normal attire.”

Ado laughed leaning onto Ryuji, patting roughly on his shoulder.

“It looks good, it's not your fault that you dress so prep everytime you go somewhere. Though, I would drop the vest just to spice it up from what you normally wear.” Ado looked behind putting his full body weight on Ryuji, “What do you think Clare?”

Clare put one finger to his cheek before as he divulged deeper into his thoughts more fingers rose to his cheek. Before speaking in a high pitch voice, though sounding methodical with each word,

“Well, I believe we shouldn’t be going for novelty. It's a wedding so you should look as good as possible and your father gave you that vest, right? If so then the outfit is designed for it, so it looks better regardless of what us two may prefer.”

Ado sighed before pushing off of Ryuji making his chair spin around to see the two of them,

“So, what you think bro?”

Ryuji laughed to himself giving a sly look to Clare as he leaned his head on his hand smiling,

“Well, it's a rare day that I can tell you no and not be completely wrong so let's go with Ado this time.”

Clare looked at him not moving, his voice hitting a low pitch saying fast,

“Really.”

Ado looked to the side leaning into each and every word with nothing but reverence,

“If working with Ryuji taught you anything it should be that he’s a stubborn bitch when he gets the high ground.”

Ryuji leaned forward,

“Yup yup.”

Clare decided to ignore Ryuji and talk to Ado,

“Yeah, unfortunately he is like this. Though out of curiosity did you ever talk to Tsuna about talking to Ryuji for you so that she can change his mind?”

Ryuji’s face broke mouth agape said,

“Wait you did wha-”

Clare put his finger in front of Ryuji,

“Shhhhh, you have talked enough for now. Or do you want me to make you remove that needlessly lewd scene from chapter 3.”

Pouting would be an understatement to describe Ryuji’s face so he just spun back around to adjust his tie and ignore the slander that was being spoken. Ado responded,

“Yeah actually pretty commonly, normally whenever he talks about money decisions like that one time he was going to go to a flea market to get that retro console at a low price. Though I knew he didn’t have enough money and he wasn’t listening to me so I brought in the bomb.”

Clare snickered to themself speaking underneath his breath,

“There have been what feels like hundreds of times I’ve texted Tsuna to talk about specific lewd scenes I wanna change, since I don’t always wanna pull rank on him.”

Ryuji yelled in the middle of the tent,

“I got head for that so I was the one who won there!”

A sadistic smile crept its way onto Clare’s face as they licked their lips walking towards Ryuji’s chair. Holding both of his shoulders and massaged them slightly, Clare’s taunting voice making it clear of the joy he was speaking with,

“Ooooo, does that make you feel big Ryuji? Getting to pull the “I have sex card” Wow what a big boy you are! What do you wanna tell me next? You wanna talk about how she topped you? Or maybe where the hickeys that are on your body right now?”

Ryuji blasted out of the chair his face being crimson in color,

“THAT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH SHUT UP.”

Ado laughed,

“You gotta teach me his buttons some time, it's fun watching him squirm.”

Clare nodded,

You would need some form of authority over him to make this work so I doubt you could.”

Tsuna was in another tent on the other side of the venue, her friends were outside of the tent talking excitedly about how their friend was going to finally be what she always dreamed of. No matter what state Tsuna had been in, she could always tell you that the thing she wanted most was to be her husband's bride.

She had always known and had been more than told by Ryuji how shallow of a dream that was. Pointing out how not personal it is. Though that didn’t matter to her, this day was hers so even if she couldn’t find the thrill of chasing a dream ever again she would make this day the best it could possibly be.

Her father Mister Olfulson was also in the tent with her a curtain in the middle just so when she needed to change he could walk behind. Though now he was standing behind her chair messaging her. His massive frame, and bulky hands made the things he was muttering to himself to try and calm himself down.

“Ok, today will go fine, you know Tsuna you really should calm down about it, since I am here, and your brother. And I raised you both so you probably should be fine when it comes to this whole love thing, I don’t think you're going to get divorced. Wait, I did raise you and the only marriage I had didn’t go too well.” He turned around hastily saying determined, “I am going to talk to Ryuji to make sure he knows what he shouldn’t d-”

Tsuna got up from her chair and hugged his back, keeping him there. His massive body making it impossible to wrap her arms completely around him so she just gripped him on his sides. Laughing to herself in between each word as her grip tightened,

“Dad, you need to calm down, you're making me nervous. You did a good job raising us and if this fails, it's not your fault. Though we always made a habit of going into things blind then regretting it later.” Tsuna’s voice quickly began to spiral into a shaky mess, her words becoming drenched in hopeless worry, “Or the fact that this isn’t recognized by our country or the other loud fact, and god I mean blaring fact that this whole thing took like a month to set up when bare minimum I wanted to spend six months on it.”

Her father stopped his own panic swallowing it into his chest and caught himself up with his breath. Pushing his worries to the side for this moment, for this important day where his two spouses could hopefully find a life long partner to trust with their whole selves. Swallowing his pride he spoke as he wrapped his arms around her. Holding her tighter as he spoke, his words coming out full of breath and heart.

“Hey Tsuna,” His voice broke his body beaconing him to shy away but he stopped himself. Then he spoke.”You're scared right? Like your stomach is attached to your heart and it feels like they are tugging each other. Right?”

Mr. Olfulson looked to the side expecting a confused look like every other person he attempted to explain something to but Tsuna just nodded. The tear in her eye bobbing off the lids of her eyes and streaming down her cheek.

“Think it's just easy to let yourself worry about what could go wrong. Especially on days that are meant to stand out as something wonderful.” Tsuna looked up at her father confidently, her hands fidgeting nervously, “So I don’t think it’s bad that we are thinking about it, maybe it's just because we care.”

Everyone left their tent now in their costumes. It had been time for a show, but not one for an audience but ones for the actors, one for them. Ryuji tried to think of it as pompous as he could, maybe to try and calm his nerves but no matter what it’s here. He needed to be in this moment since there would never be another moment like this.

He closed his eyes, breathing in the air of the world. The scent of barbeque being not so far from here. The sounds of a bird and its chicks singing being carried by the whistling wind. The tight feeling of his dress shoes compared to his tennis shoes making his shift balance every few moments. It was uncomfortable being stood at this altar alone but regardless of physical discomfort, he was still comfortable here.

Only five people attended their wedding and it would be a lie to say that he wasn’t sad about not having everyone they invited show but here right now. Only those who truly care for them were present, how could a smile not be on his face.

He looked to Clare who was his ring bearer for the day. Nodding his head nervously to him before looking down the aisle where Mr. Olfulson was spreading flower pedals as he walked behind him was an elegantly ethereal figure covered in white. Ryuji’s many trains of thought all meshed into one for a single moment, his hands clasping into itself and his toes curled.

The slight chill that was present on his face disappeared and heat began to fill his dress shirt and the anticipation grabbed him by his heart strings. The timelessly gorgeous figure dragged her veil to the side with the back of her hand. Revealing Tsuna’s adorable expression, it was a mix between embarrassment and unbridled happiness. It was far beyond anything Ryuji’s imagination of what she could look like, the real thing was transcendent to whatever was in his head.

Without a thought Ryuji motioned to walk off the altar, Clare trying to stop him by grabbing his shirt but Ryuji kept walking. It tore off revealing Ryuji’s undershirt if you looked at his back. Him still transfixed on his wife’s face saw it grow more panicked as he walked forward but he didn’t care. Him and his father looked each other in the eyes, smiling before Ryuji motioned with a back hand to get out of his way. Tsuna stopped in her tracks about two thirds of the way down the isle and Ryuji grabbed her by the waist holding her tightly. He looked in her eyes with a meek joy saying,

“I’m sorry, I really just couldn’t wait. You ar-” Ryuji paused putting his forehead on hers, “I can’t even describe, no matter how many pages I have scrawled or how many wordsmith’s words I’ve read, no matter what language I scoured. No dialect that humanity can come up with would describe what I see with my eyes now, so you’ll need to forgive my crude, simple, observation.” Being completely helpless in his goal to describe Tsuna’s look he just said what was running through his mind, “I really do love you with all I am. I know this isn’t how most people do it, but Tsuna Olfulson, would you please be my wife.”

Tsuna’s face lit up immediately jumping into Ryuji causing him to fall down holding him tight after pecking him on the lips. The flower petals that were sprawled around the ground flew up into the air falling onto the two of them. Before she said with an excited smile,

“Of course I will, you will, are, and always will be my one and only Ryuji. Please be my husband.”

Ryuji laughed grabbing her by the back of her head and burying it into his chest shouting into the sky,

“I think we both know what we are going to say to one another but lets make this easier.”

Ryuji put his hands off Tsuna as she grabbed both his hands putting their foreheads together. Both of them confidently smiling at one another both of them saying with their full chest,

“I do,”
