Chapter 15:
Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 4th Novel
Arata: “Hyperlink Drive! Blue Extension!”
Kalbokulus this entire time had not said a word, but just flung Arata’s attacks to the side with the flick of his finger.
Arata: “Doom’s Retribution! Inflicted Contribution! Halo’s Infinity!”
Again, the same things happened. The ropes dispersed, the fire from beneath the floor went away, and the rings that appeared snapped in half.
Iki: “Linear Infinite Gratum!”
The pink slashes kept deflecting off of him as he walked forward, charging at Iki to punch him before Arata dashed in front, lighting up in blue spirals that shot out from his body at the 9 foot tall monster.
His punch hit Arata, sending him flying back instead, but the mana spirals also hit to everyone’s surprise, blowing Kalbokulus’s hand off, but he instantly grew it back.
Kalbokulus: “Interesting. I think I’ll take that power. Imagination Level 1: Copy.”
His skin illuminated with blue mana spirals exactly like Arata’s.
‘Huh?’ he thought. ‘That’s level 1? His first ability is to copy my abilities?’
Kalbokulus: “I sense some fear. You are clearly not the 1st Reverend of the Swords. Iki, tell me. Who did you name in this era of humans? I think I shall take a look and take his powers as well…Arata, was it? You’re probably wondering why I can deflect your abilities like it is nothing. In fact, you’re probably thinking right now that the first ability I used was to copy things. Iki, would you like to explain or do you not remember?”
Iki: “I remember you piece of shit. Arata, that’s his only ability. He can copy powers from anyone he chooses. Inside his body are powers of past swordsmen and witches who have tried to fight him and failed. All he has to do is look at someone and their powers are his. Who knows what abilities he has now, but he just got mana spirals from you.”
Kalbokulus: “These are quite unique. I have killed a couple 1st Reverends and even they did not have this. This is certainly new for me.”
Arata: “Iki, please tell me he does not have Kazuki’s abilities.”
Iki: “No, he doesn’t. Out of everyone in the world, he’s the only person he can’t copy. I do not know why, but many years ago I remember it. He couldn’t copy him. However, he does have chaplets from witches. Be careful.”
Arata: “Alright, I have a chance then.”
Kalbokulus: “Hmm, let’s try this…Dark Mold: Level 10 Infinite Death.”
Iki: “Huh? That’s my ability–”
Arata: “Watch out! Wave of Catastrophe! Blue Shield! Island Shift! Vault Open!”
Chains emerged from the ground, deflecting every last possible attack that went at them. Iki’s ability pierced invisible needles into an enemy that they couldn’t defend, creating thousands of holes in their body.
Arata’s body however became surrounded with 100 swords and 68 of the 70 chaplets that existed in the world all of a sudden. The island that his main body was on ignited the white pillars surrounding it, and opened the black vault that was sealed while he was there.
Kalbokulus: “Interesting. Imagination Level 1: Copy.”
The swords and chaplets didn’t appear though.
Arata: “I thought so. You can only steal abilities. This is not an ability, but an anomaly set down on this world for my use only. The one who conquered that island was allowed access to it, but this is the first time I have ever used it. Be grateful. Once I kill you, I’ll never have this power again. Access to all chaplets and swords endlessly. Let’s see how you deal with immense powers that you can’t copy.”
Kalbokulus: “It seems you are right. I cannot copy that ability. Let me think. Let me think…I know. Why don’t I just do this?”
He pulled a sword from his chest that shined a bright white. Arata knew exactly what it was before even the handle was visible.
“The…Pixel,” he whispered low enough for only him to hear.
Kalbokulus: “The man I took this from was quite strong, but of course I killed him. This sword has a lot of brilliant powers. You have mana spirals. That’s what they are called right? Let’s see…Power Slasher.”
Small white dots of mana circled around Arata, rattling, then disappeared along with the mana spirals on his skin. ‘Huh?’ he thought. ‘Did he just–’
Kalbokulus: “What else? What else? Oh, what’s this…Realm Slasher.”
The area around them completely shattered into pieces the moment he said this. “Whoops,” he said. “I didn’t mean to break that.”
Arata was angered and surprised, however he had all 100 swords by his side including the Pixel. The problem was that Arata could only use one ability from each sword and had to choose wisely before they disappeared one by one along with the chaplets.
This monster had access to every ability the entire time and Iki was more of a nuisance than anything right now. Arata stepped forward as the swords and chaplets followed.
Arata: “Alright you big piece of shit. I’ve let you do your thing. Let’s end this…Wistenia’s Flood!”
Gigantic waves of water rained down from the sky, drenching them all, hindering them more than anything, but Iki surrounded both of them with barriers to block it as Arata dashed forward at his face, activating a Fool’s Judgement Chaplet.
Arata went to slash his neck, thinking that he was entranced in the chaplet’s ability, but Kalbokulus swung down a gigantic fist right at his face, which would've killed him had he not instinctively lifted his sword.
“Interesting!” Kalbokulus yelled. “I am trapped in some space that shows me images of my childhood. Did you think that I still couldn’t fight even inside this? Did you think I care about the past?”
He rushed at Arata with a series of punches, too hard for him to block them all as one got through and nailed Arata right in the stomach. He spit up huge amounts of blood just from one punch, having to use a Healing Chaplet to recover.
He threw his main sword using a Render Chaplet to conceal it, hiding it for later, then used a Rose Chaplet on himself and a Yellow Egress Chaplet to appear right next to the monster.
Knowing he would break the cage, he activated a Blood Chaplet to restore any injuries he would take. As a fist came hurling towards him, he maneuvered enough to avoid fatal damage as the Blood Chaplet did its work to heal him and he took a replica of Michiaki’s sword, swinging it hard at his neck and activating parts of the World of White that took to the blade of the sword.
Kalbokulus grabbed the tip right where it was, but all it did was burn his hand when it should’ve killed his entire body.
Arata: “Shit! Levitation Chaplet!”
He flew above him where his original sword was, swinging down on his head, which utterly broke his sword finally. He had been using it this entire time and the sheer punches from this monster finally did the trick
He realized that many of the common, uncommon, or rare swords would not do anything, so he sent them flying at him immediately, while using a Poter Chaplet that enhanced each of the swords by 1.
He tried a Connector Chaplet as well to enter inside his brain, but the wavelengths wouldn’t connect either.
“Maipulator Chaplet,” he called out, trying to use his own mana to contain him so the swords could hit. It worked, however the swords did nothing but reflect off of him.
Arata: “Sun Enhancer Chaplet! Water Chaplet! Gravity Chaplet! Breaker Chaplet! Accompany’s Escort Chaplet! Defect Chaplet! Luck Chaplet! Rainbow Chaplet! Ectro Chaplet! Aqua Chaplet! Swiss Chaplet! Antimatter Chaplet! Poison Chaplet!”
Nothing worked.
Arata began to laugh, losing his own sanity. “You really are a monster. I guess chaplets won’t work. Time to turn to some crazy swords.”
He used an Enhancer Chaplet on himself to boost his overall abilities, but it was nothing compared to the mana spirals that he had before. Along with this, he used a Chrono Chaplet to predict the future up to 3 seconds, and a Trigot Chaplet to try and glitch reality for what Kalbokulus saw.
Iki knew what to do. It was the only thing he could do right now to aid this fight.
Iki: “Dark Mold: Level 10 Infinite Death!”
Holes appeared this time in the monster’s body, but he healed instantly to the point where his ability was useless. This was just to buy a couple seconds for Arata to look over all the abilities on the swords.
He bolted at him once again with an Eye of Cravat Sword, sending Kalbokulus to a different space where Arata bolted inside using Hobless Wrecked, Henry’s sword, to produce immense sound waves that bounced off the wall.
After this he sliced at Kalbokulus with the Dougen, which proved to be somewhat effective, but began to chip away from the pure might of this beast. Taking the Pixel right after, he sliced at his stomach, dealing significant damage, but one by one these swords went away after one use.
“Silvathord, come!” Arata chanted out, grabbing hold of Morlin’s ultimate weapon. “Fairies Protection of the Hidden Forest!”
Arata’s body lit up in various different colors that continued. When Kalbokulus tried to hit him, he couldn’t. It was like an ultimate shield that wouldn’t allow him through.
Arata: “Northern Blade of Aurora! Absolute Zero!”
The space froze along with his enemy before breaking out almost instantly of course. “Show me more, Arata Sanji. This is great knowledge.”
His body began to grow even more as he was now 11 feet tall and his wounds completely healed. Arata didn’t give in though. “Selezzar! Death’s True World!”
The Selezzar sword was ancient, belonging to Hachiro Jiro, the 5th Reverend of the Swords. However, he was never able to unlock its full potential. It was one of the greatest swords in the world, but for Arata, he had access to any one ability right now, including one that summoned powers from another world.
A small crystal diamond hovered around Kalbokulus’ neck, staring him in the face as if it was alive.
He grabbed the diamond, but it exploded his hand and then attached itself to individual parts of his body, exploding them one by one.
This diamond was from the 3rd World of Protations called the Crystal Domain of Sanctuary. It was a world where gems had extreme value instead of swords or chaplets. In fact, no humans even existed. It was entirely a world full of crystals that contained immense strength.
Kalbokulus laughed even though he wasn’t regenerating. “I’ve got him!” Arata screamed out, using Clara’s sword Ambiguous Smight to finish the job. He chopped his head off and the crystal dispersed back to its realm.
Iki: “Y-You did it. You killed him…”
Arata: “Tough bastard. One punch from that thing and I was a goner. I felt it when he got me. If I didn’t have that Healing Chaplet I wouldn’t have lived. Bastard broke 4 of my ribs and damaged my internal organs.”
“How about I do it again then?” a voice called out. Before Arata could move, Kalbokulus was standing behind him, towering over him and punched him so hard that it broke the air particles around him much like earlier with Isara.
He coughed up an insane amount of blood.
He used a Recovery Chaplet to fix the inside of him, but he needed a Healing Chaplet badly. ‘Crap! I messed up,’ he thought.
A girl’s voice called out, “Arata!”
It was Isara.
He was pissed that she came back, but she ran to him trying to use her fairies to heal him. “No…Get away. He’s gonna kill yo–”
He couldn’t get the sentence off before the man was right above them, swinging down The Pixel sword. Both of their lives flashed before their eyes…
