Chapter 16:
Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 4th Novel
“Roots of the Goddess!” two voices called out, summoning thick tree branches that even The Pixel could not pierce.
Isara looked behind her to see Yasuhiro and Kouki and she started to cry.
Kouki: “Isara, what did I say? I told you that you were going to get yourself killed.”
Yasuhiro: Ha! What’s wrong Arata? Couldn’t handle the big bad beast?”
Arata: “You two look…different.”
Kouki: “Iki! Take Isara and leave…Arata, I’m assuming you’re not so weak that you would sit there and grovel. Take this Healing Chaplet and get up. We’re gonna need you for this one. This is us repaying you for helping our stupid little brother.”
At this point, Iki didn’t have the nerve to say anything back even as their leader, so he took Isara and left without hesitation even as she kept complaining and hitting him as they went.
Kouki: “Now, I’ve been waiting for this. Someone I can go all out against. It’s 3 on 1. I think I like my odds.”
Kalbokulus laughed and harnessed the exact same power that they had. The swordsmen weren’t surprised. After all, this monster was not human.
Yasuhiro: “Not sure where you came from, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t see you the first time we fought. Whoever you are though, don’t worry. This’ll be quick.”
Kouki: “Agreed brother…What you don’t know you blue freak monster is that these are brand new powers for us, but we’re in sync with them. Go ahead and copy our abilities. You won’t be able to scratch me with them.”
Kalbokulus laughed, intrigued at the cockiness of the two.
Kalbokulus: “In my many years alive, there have been all kinds of people like you. Eager to strike me down only resulted in the deaths of them all. Legendary swords according to you all have been taken by me and used right back on you useless beings. You’re weak. I could kill you without these pointless blades. There has only been one man in the world that has driven me back, but I will seek my revenge on him right after I deal with you three.”
Arata: “Yeah right. You’re not touching me again. Kouki, Yasuhiro…Go all out from the start. We don’t have time to waste.”
Kouki: “Hey, your name is Kalbokulus right? Not that it really matters. It’s just that the statement you made…it doesn’t really make sense. You see. We’re not like other swordsmen. All these powers we have are new to us and are extremely strong. If you understand how these powers work, then you’d understand that this entire playing field is ours to work with, even the air…Breath of Gaia.”
Smoke exhaled from Kouki’s mouth, surrounding the entire area in an instance as everything became black, even them as they disappeared into the darkness.
The air became heavy even for Kalbokulus and began to weigh his 11 foot body down, but he still stood up, and breathed through his inner torso like the monster he was.
Kouki, Yasuhiro, and Arata appeared underneath the ground striking at his body, but he spun in a circle, kicking them all only to find out that they were illusions.
Gigantic grass blades came rushing in from all directions trying to pierce his body, but were deflected as lightning rained down from the sky in waves, striking him, but doing little damage.
“Pathetic,” he said, stomping the ground to disperse the darkness, but it didn’t go away.
Water then flooded the entire space, engulfing him.
It wasn’t just water though.
It was an entire storm…A tsunami.
Kalbokulus took it head on, planting himself in the ground as the water hit him and then carried on behind him.
A silhouette of a face appeared in front of him with a flaming black blade, slicing at him, but yet again it was an illusion.
The water faded back into the ground now and was replaced with rock walls that emerged on each side. Kalbokulus turned flat, placing his feet, arms, and head in all directions and utterly stopping the walls from closing in on him despite the millions of pounds of solid rock.
From the ground, small little material came rising up.
It was bacteria.
Even the smallest of germs attacked his inner body, making him cough up blood before flowers bloomed underneath him, wrapping him in petals and vines, then squeezing him so hard that it would’ve made any human burst, but his body was so strong that he held his ground.
He laughed and commended them for what this power was. “I must’ve underestimated you both. In all my years, you two are the second strongest that I have faced. However, your strength only goes so far.”
He broke through the flowers, then busted the rocks to pieces, took the Pixel Sword, which was built for slashing realms, stuck it in the ground and tried to destroy the area.
The Pixel Sword did nothing though.
“This is what I mean by you swords do nothing. I guess I’ll do it on my own.”
Kouki appeared before his face, taunting him, and spoke.
Kouki: “You still do not understand. You may be the ruler of the Dark Mold, but you don’t stand a chance against us. As of right now, I’m on par with a Realm user. Enjoy your death freak.”
Kouki disappeared underground again and the elements continued to attack him.
Solid blades of grass from all over targeted him, beams directly from the sun, misty clouds that entered his body to poison him, rocks that continuously flew at his face to knock him back, and chains of water that wouldn’t budge.
Kalbokulus: “Enough!”
Around him were hundreds of swords that jolted everywhere, stabbing every inch of the space as he broke the elements that came after him.
Kalbokulus: “So you control the entire planet? Then that means we are still outside. This is not a barrier, but an immersion of nature itself, meaning that you are hiding somewhere within. Isn’t that right?!”
He stabbed the ground with one of the blades in his hand that slightly drew blood from Yasuhiro’s shoulder as he dodged anything fatal. The blackness went away and the true nature of the world came back to reality.
Arata: “Wave of Catastrophe!”
Kouki and Yasuhiro attacked as well, but in separate waves. Arata’s attack did nothing as Kalbokulus dodged it and went to punch him, but yet again it was an illusion.
The brothers were faster than even Arata with mana spirals at this point. Their capes lit up a bright green, enhancing their abilities as they clashed their swords into his torso, but Kalbokulus evaded the same way that Arata did. They only sliced the skin off of his hips, before vines emerged from the ground, stopping his fists before he tried to punch.
Kouki planted his foot, turned, and sliced off his leg completely.
Yasuhiro did the same, but sliced upwards, taking off his right arm before he broke out of the vines and started swinging again.
He grew back his limbs, but realized that they were burning when he put them back together.
“What did you do?” he asked stubbornly.
Yasuhiro: “Oh, you didn’t like that, you big oaf? How does it feel to have the sun directly in your body? I can’t believe that you were able to even grow that back. I’ll admit, even for my cockiness, you’re strong.”
Kouki: “Brother, move please. I need to activate my move.”
Kalbokulus: “You cocky little–”
Yasuhiro created tree roots that grabbed and pierced his body all over while Kouki chanted out, “World’s Order, Verdant Genesis!”
His body started to rot, much like how moss grows on rotting trees. He couldn’t stop the change, even though he continued to rip it off of his body. He panicked and started to run.
Yasuhiro: “OH! RUNNING NOW?! GET BACK HERE YOU IDIOT!”
The three of them chased him all the way to a hill. It was familiar to Arata and he knew why. He peered down to see Isamu’s body on the ground in a frozen state with the sword by his side.
Nobody cared at the moment, only Arata who shook now. He was utterly useless even with what Kazuki had given him. He thought back to his words and thought, ‘I’m as strong as you? Yeah right. You’re being generous.’
As he thought this, Kazuki appeared with Kento who was screaming his head off at Kazuki, complaining about how he took the enemy out too quickly and easily.
Arata looked over at Kazuki who was holding Welpen with one hand, dragging him across the ground as he bled profusely and seemed unconscious. He threw Welpen towards Kalbokulus as he looked over at Kazuki.
Kazuki: “Ah I remember you. I see you have not changed. Care to challenge me again? I think those two over there are doing a fine job indeed though.”
Kalbokulus knew he couldn’t win this fight. He had underestimated everyone here and the Dark Mold substance was not doing anything to the brothers, let alone Kazuki who was now ready to fight.
Kalbokulus: “Fine. You all think you’ve driven me to a corner? I’ll show you stupid swordsmen what the Dark Mold is truly capable of. You may think I only have one power, but that is because I have not shown what I truly am! Imagination Level 100: God’s Wrat–”
Before he could finish his chant, a skeletal figure appeared out of nowhere, stabbing Welpen, Kalbokulus, and even Isamu who lay on the ground, not moving still, with long tree roots and bones.
They pierced their bodies so easily as if these monsters had no strength to them at all. The skeleton put a finger up to his mouth, shushing the area as the three of these creatures went underground, phasing through like they were ghosts.
Before anyone could ask a question, Octavious Iji and Kanji Adachi appeared before them via a Yellow Egress Chaplet, and explained that this creature in front of them holds the soul of a young boy named Lucky.
Arata was shocked along with Yasuhiro and Kouki. “Brother…” they both said in desperation.
Kouki: “Brother? I-Is that really you?”
He didn’t have to ask to know it was true, especially seeing the look on Arata’s face along with the words of Kanji, who he respected to a degree.
Lucky phased back halfway through the ground before Kazuki appeared alongside him before his entire body went down, trying to grab his head, but his hand phased through.
“Interesting,” Kazuki said out loud. “That should’ve worked.”
Activating a Wight Chaplet, he went underneath the ground to not see Lucky anywhere and came back up. ‘Hmm, I wonder. Is this–’
Yasuhiro: “Brother, we don’t have time to cope. He’s still in there right? I don’t know what just happened, but we will free him. We need to destroy the Dark Mold first.”
Kazuki: “Ah, everyone, everyone. This is very unfortunate that our enemies were taken from us, but let us make sure the Dark Mold is destroyed as Yasuhiro said. I do not see some of our allies. Who do we seem to be missing?”
Arata: “Iki and Isara ran off. Natsuki, Yahiko, Astro, and the brother and sister seem to not be here along with the old man. Oh wait, where is Sayo? They must’ve all got put together when we separated.”
Kento: “This is bullshit. This idiot took all the fun and you all looked like you had good fights. I’m going back. Hopefully Nightmare is still around so I can beat the crap out of him.”
Kazuki: “I do agree with this. I shall take us all back there.”
Using a Blockade Chaplet with Egress Chaplets, he teleported them back to the realms that everyone was in, starting with Agatha and Akari Rekka, who were laying on the ground with the old man looking over her.
