Chapter 19:

The Mysteries Of The Past : Part Five

The Creature Hunter: Soul Of The Wind

Then she started telling a story,

"A long time ago, when I was a knight and there was Luroun's war going on, I was one of the soldiers of Luroun. Back then some knights got affected by his power and joined his side, and It may sound crazy but, I thought he could give a more proper life. Everyone was thinking the same way since he looked like he was going to rule everywhere. And my poverty at the time really covered my eyes.

But unfortunately, the plan didn't go as planned.

I lost all my friends, all my hope, and my leg. I was crying desperately on the battlefield. There were people dying right beside me. And the most painful thing was, I could hear them saying,

"Help!"

"It's killing my mother!"

"I beg you! Please stop!"

I thought I was going to die because of the creatures surrounding everywhere around me. And there was a creature that was approaching me. But at that moment, I saw a man that was carrying a very big bag behind him.

It was Roam.

He was the only beacon of hope I could hold on to at that moment.

I shouted at him,

"Please! All of my friends have died! Help me! I beg you! Have mercy! Please!"

But I didn't know I was getting the creature's attention.

When I was shouting at him, the creature tried to attack me from above.

And at that moment, he didn't hesitate a moment and punched the creature, making it fly far away. He beat up the creatures, saved me and everyone around me.

My life flashed before my eyes.

The last thing that I remembered was him saving people, and I fainted at that moment.

When I woke up, I was in a wooden house that was located in a forest, in Faye. I got out of the bed that I was in and saw that I had a wooden leg now and there was a bandage on my left eye. I slowly got up and searched for somebody.

And I finally found him, He was sitting in another room, looking at some potions.

He saw me and said,

"You shouldn't be walking around like that with this injured."

I was angry about his behavior. He was acting like he knew nothing about me.

I shouted at him at that moment,

"You knew I was on the enemy's side! You knew I hurt people! But you still helped me! Why!?"

"And you still think a human life is that simple to give away like that?"

He looked at me and said,

"A friend or an enemy. An ally or a foe. Human life is precious in many ways. If I let you and other people like that there, maybe I could save more potions and I wouldn't have to fight those creatures. But If I did, I wouldn't be able to save my mind from losing my humanity against others. I wouldn't be in a position to call myself human. So I did it all for that."

His words affected me from the deep of my heart. Maybe I had my pride against him being this naive to me, but he had his own pride too. He cared so much about the humans around him and helped him.

And after that, I found out that he was a Creature Hunter, but a wanderer one. He said that because of Luroun's war, everywhere was covered with chaos and there were always people that needed help.

He helped people until the war ended. And after some time, we fell in love and got married.

I didn't know he was like that but, he was the most gentle and caring husband that I could ever imagine.

And after Yuma got born, and after some time, we moved to Idrisud and started to live there."

She then added,

"That is why you shouldn't care about what happened. We are a family, Tatsumi. If he is mad at you, it was because he was scared of something happening to you. Just like me. He taught me mercy and the importance of love, that is why If something would happen to you, I would give my life for you no matter what. These are the purposes of being a mother and a father. So don't be mad at each other, okay?"

I smiled and said,

"I'm not mad at him at all. I will get better and will achieve what he wants. Thank you again, Mrs. Giselle."

She was right. I don't have the right to get angry at times like these. Roam is right too. I must get stronger and be more dedicated to my work.

So after that, I kept training for months. Again and again. And finally, after six months, I decided to fight with it again. I jumped into the depths and searched for it. And since I trained a lot more, I was able to move faster.

And after minutes, it appeared again. It looked like it was waiting for me too.

This time, when I dodged its attacks, I tried to attack its fins, since it was its weakest point, and was the thing that caused it to move this fast.

We fought each other like that for minutes.

It felt like an eternity but after brawling in the water for thirty minutes, I finally came out of the water.

I had won that time.

And Roam simply congratulated me on that. But it was enough for me.

I kept learning and experiencing. I didn't stop training both mentally and psychically.

When I turned nineteen years old, Roam and I decided to go on a harder mission. And since he thought I was old enough to go out from Idrisud, we decided to take a mission on Faye.

It was a mission to take medical potions and deliver them there. It was normal at first, but then we found the reason why any help that they called for, didn't arrive there.

We came across a Tigo.

It was a creature that looked very similar to a tiger and a lion, but it was fifteen feet tall, had grey fur and dark grey fur on its back. It had two very long and sharp teeth. And had sharp crystals on its ankles, neck, and on its back.

Since I read about them with Yuma before, I knew that they were much stronger than any creature. But they were not that fast as the world serpents. So I used my speed as an advantage and after fighting for minutes. I beat that creature too.

And after I came home, I was very tired and talked with Yuma.

He smiled and said to me,

"This mission was much more dangerous than the others right?"

I sat down breathing heavily and said,

"Yeah, it was. But at least we succeeded."

"Yeah, you are right."

I asked,

"What were you doing?"

"Oh! I was reading about Luroun's big war. It was the same as the other books, but this one included much more interesting dark magic spells and other kinds of spells."

Then he pointed to a page and said,

"Like this one here. The life stealer magic."

He added,

"Just as dark magic steals a person's lifetime, this dark magic he created gives its user more lifetime by taking the life of another person."

While I was looking at the book and as Yuma told me about Luroun, I saw something different at his table. It was another book that I have never seen before and they had different designs on them.

I asked,

"Did you bought other books today?"

He excitedly said,

"Oh! I forgot to tell you!"

"I think I have finally found a clue." He said as he smiled at me.

I didn't understand what he was talking about, but after a couple of seconds, it came to my mind.

I asked excitedly just like him,

"Are you talking about the Rift?"

"Yes. I have finally found something about it. It is not much of a something, but we can use this." He replied still smiling.

He then added by opening the book's last page.

"According to this book, the rift appears around every kingdom and it is noted that some people even saw it."

"Then we can use this and search around for it."

"Exactly. If we start from the first kingdom and go around every kingdom, maybe we can find something about it."

That was our final conversation before we decided to move out with Yuma. We decided that it would be better to move out and look for our own solutions just the two of us.

Mrs.Giselle and Mr. Roam accepted our deal and gave us permission.

And after planning and living in Ravaryn for almost a year, we finally found the Rift.
