Chapter 26:

Death Is Certain

Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 4th Novel

Defending off Kastor at a high level, the Sacred Tree was extremely helpful. They had taken care of most of the enemies and Kouki bolted forward to save Kento despite their differences.

Something triggered inside Kento. It was like a flame that kept rising. It was anger. He could care less about what was going on, but his stubbornness was always a source of his strength. His mana rose more and more and more, going beyond Agatha’s, Kouki’s, and Yasuhiro’s combined.

It was intense!

Kento couldn’t even control it himself. He became entranced in a state similar to Kyuma and Aelig who did not stop their relentless pursuit of Lucky who kept having to back up despite his power.

Kouki: “This is–”

Yasuhiro: “A triple covenant! He’s going to kill himself! I’ve never seen this before!”

Kento turned towards Kastor, walking right towards him, not using any of his Chaplets. Looking him in the eye, Kastor created a double of him that tried to kill the real Kento, but he immediately perished from Kento’s sword.

Waves of mana pulsated throughout the air, shaking the ground, changing gravity, and throwing off the terrain, reaching all the way to the three fighting.

Looking at Kastor, Kento’s body ignited in a blaze brighter than the sun. Kastor grabbed him, but Kento sent a barrage of punches with just his left hand at such a fast pace that Kastor couldn’t regenerate.

When he stopped, Kastor could still not heal himself. Holes spread all throughout his body, unable to continue fighting how he was. Taking up his sword, it grew 10x the size to a massive blade that could cut through a mountain.

Slicing down, he destroyed Kastor’s body again, this time for good. The flames reached all over the place, encompassing the enemies that lay before them, however they trapped them in a barrier, which they didn’t expect.

Despite Kento’s poor attitude and lack of love for anyone, he saved everyone that was here and went after Lucky.

Bypassing the speed of Kyuma and Aelig, Kento’s sword sliced down at the boney creature, cracking his fingers–something that the two had not been able to do this entire time.

Kento wasn’t thinking, but Lucky grew back his fingers right away, putting them up to his mouth and shushing them.

It wasn’t like before though.

His eyes turned a dark red and his mouth became a cage of fangs that looked like the definition of evil.

Kyuma and Aelig suddenly halted and dispersed from their tranced state and Kento’s mana began to lower now. His wounds started to open up again. He knew his triple covenant would last. He was dedicated to giving everything he had left for his pride.

Aelig took Kyuma away who fell backwards, unable to fight anymore. He wasn’t conscious, but Aelig praised him for his growth.

He wanted no part of this anymore, teleporting everyone away from their realm while the fighting continued in a barren land.

The weather change didn’t affect Kento as he pursued his target.

“Golden Flash! Espalos Cage! Fools Gold! Endless Pit Infinity!”

Lucky was not heavily affected by any of this though. Despite Kento’s triple covenant, his powers still could not pierce the majority of Lucky’s powers. He was doing damage, but his armored bones were too strong.

Lasers shot out of Lucky’s eyes, obliterating anything in its pathway. It hit Kento across his chest, burning away his body and mana now quicker than before.

Kento: “Agh! Golden Purification!”

It didn’t work.

His healing powers denied him and his triple covenant began to take a toll on his body. Blood foamed in his mouth, halting him where he was. His body could no longer move and the wounds from before would not heal. He fell to the ground unable to do anything.

Lucky laughed and Kento slightly raised his head before Lucky grabbed him by the hair looking at him in his eyes.

Shushing him, a slight wind blew in his face as if it was a final sendoff. Kento could hardly do anything, but with the strength he had left, he would ensure that this bag of bones would make a mistake.

Kento: “You shouldn’t have looked me in the eyes.”

He laughed uncontrollably while coughing up blood as his eyes rattled with various colors and he forced his moon state onto himself. Lucky tried to back away, but the Chaplets in his eyes duplicated into thousands that surrounded him. Looking all over his body, voices whispered towards Lucky before binding him in place.

Two of the Chaplets removed themselves and lifted Kento’s eyes into the slots, peering at Lucky. “Sayonaro, you bastard.”

All of them exploded at once, engulfing the entire area. Kento’s barriers remained on the enemies that they had, but the rest of them lifted up shields over them, which weren’t strong enough to stop the incoming flames.

Even with Kouki, Yasuhiro, Astro, and Agatha, the barrier started to burn away, but before it could, the explosion stopped and the area was a complete land of black ash.

Out from the Chaplets' eyes, Lucky’s body started to regenerate. Half of his body was burned and some of his bones were gone, but they slowly came back. He laughed and shushed his finger yet again, pulling his army back to him.

Despite the Swordsmen's attempts, they didn’t want to kill anyone not knowing if they would perish for good. However, most of the enemies were as strong as they were before, and even they were struggling. Kouki thought, ‘Had Kento not trapped them in barriers, we might’ve not lasted.’

Lucky retreated to the ground, still trying to heal from Kento’s effects, bringing his army with him. The four of them stood there in utter defeat yet again, walking over to Kento’s body, which surprisingly did not burn away completely.

Yasuhiro: “You fool…”

Astro and Agatha just peered at the man’s eyes, looking almost as dead as a body in a coffin yet he still had some life in him, unable to speak a word.

Although this was the case, they could all tell what he was thinking. He was selfish up until the very end. He wanted to get up and fight more, but when he tried to move a muscle, blood would spew out from every crevice in his body.

He tried to even cuss out the 4 of them that looked over him, but only puffs of air came out of his body. For the first time ever, Kouki dropped to his knees and started to shed tears.

Following him was Yasuhiro who placed the tip of his sword into the ground out of respect, creating a bed of tree roots underneath the ground to wrap him in.

Astro didn’t know what to feel, but when he put his hand underneath his eyes, water flowed all over his fingers. His eyes instinctively and uncontrollably cried for Kento.

“I don’t get it,” he said out loud. “I hated you. You’ve done nothing but be a nuisance to me my whole life. Why am I crying right now? I haven’t cried for anyone in years.”

Kento could only smile with his mouth burned, but they could tell he was slightly laughing before he looked at Astro and perished in front of him.

Agatha stepped back to avoid anything personal to them. She tried to contact Kazuki Alcion and to her surprise, he answered.

Once he explained things to her, she knew they just had to wait for his return and protect anyone else from dying, however everyone was going to be stuck on that island for longer than they had expected.

Kouki and Yasuhiro wrapped Kento’s body to teleport it back to Beyblue Island where he enjoyed spending his time. The Sacred Tree accepted him despite who he was and buried him layers beneath her out of respect and cried for him.
