Xander stared at the retreating figure of Klaus, still reeling from the magical threat.
「Err... Should I ask?」Iris shook her head firmly.「It's better if you don't.」Jay clapped his hands together, his mind already sketching out the plan.「OK, Princess, Saalin, and Iris. You rescue the hostage, and I'll distract that big lizard.」「Just be careful, Master Jay.」 Saalin urged, a rare flicker of worry in her voice.「Don't worry, I always am.」Liani, focusing back on her job, confirmed the commitment.「Does that mean you'll do it?」「Yes. And I believe the Tyrant Wyvern is worth one thousand gold, right?」 Iris asked, verifying the high-tier bounty.「So you saw the request?」 Xander replied, astounded by their sudden high-level ambition.「Of course we did.」 Jay stated simply.Lena tugged on Jay's coat, the ultimate priority in her mind.「C'mon, Papa! Let the bakery isn't open the whole day!」「OK, Princess. Your Papa will end this one really fast.」Liani delivered a final, grave warning.「Before you go, just know: only Mythril or Dragon Scales can break the Tyrant Wyvern's scales!」「I'll keep that in mind. ...Then they left...」「...Chuckles... Something tells me that Jay Lancer is up to something.」 Xander mused.「Yes, but I pray they make it back safely.」 Liani whispered, her composure broken by concern.【She's never like this with other adventurers, so she likes that Jay Lancer on a personal level, huh?】
At The Dragon's Fang...
The North Mountains, known locally as the Dragon's Fangs, were imposing and desolate.
「We were barely there for a month, and now we're taking on an SS-Ranked request!」 Iris muttered, half-excited, half-apprehensive.「Yah, I know. But we have to wake that big boy up.」「You want me to, Master Jay?」 Saalin offered, nocking an imaginary arrow.「No. Your arrow might bounce off it and hit the hostage. But use this. ...Gives Lena a staff...」Iris looked at the small, plain wooden staff in confusion.「What's this for?」「Well, if my Princess taps it twice, Gate will open, and tap once to close it. Now... ~Hell Fire Bomb~」
A concentrated sphere of volatile, dark-red flame shot from Jay's hand. It impacted the massive, sleeping form of the Wyvern with a deafening explosion. The Tyrant Wyvern roared, waking instantly, its malice-filled eyes fixing on the tiny figures. It dropped its head and charged at them, scales scorched but unbroken.
Lena pointed at the enraged beast.「Papa, it's coming!」「OK, Princess, is the hostage still alive?」 Jay asked, checking her sensory reading.「Yes, Papa!」「OK. You three, get going now!」
