Lena quickly tapped the staff twice, that opened a gate and they went through it.The Tyrant Wyvern paused, then let loose a thunderous roar, turning its full fury onto the remaining figure.
「(...Roars at Jay...)」Jay responded with a focused, non-lethal blast, just enough to sting.「C'mon, big boy. It's just me and you now.」
Jay immediately began sprinting away from the original hideout entrance, baiting the enraged beast. The Tyrant Wyvern, massive and heavy, lumbered after him.Iris, Lena, and Saalin stepped out of the shimmering portal, finding themselves in a hidden crevice near the Wyvern's resting spot. They quickly moved toward the hostage.
「Are you the Bishop?」 Iris asked the weary-looking figure.Lisa, the Bishop, nodded yes.「Not much of a talker, huh... Well, Klaus sent us to save you. Are you OK?」Lisa gave them a solid thumbs up.「I guess that means OK.」 Saalin summarized.Lisa then pointed in Jay's direction, worriedly.Lena puffed out her chest.「Don't worry about Papa. He's the strongest in the Kingdom!」
Jay calculated his next move with grim efficiency.【Sh*t, he's really tough. If that's the case, then...】~Iron Spear~
A dense, high-velocity spear of forged earth magic shot toward the beast. It plunged directly into the Wyvern's left eye, causing an explosion of blood and pain. But even in its agony, the beast retaliated, its tail snapping out like a whip. The massive impact sent Jay flying back toward his party. He crashed near them, dusting himself off with a groan.
「I think I might've pissed it off.」「You think?」 Iris retorted dryly.「Papa, you OK, right?」 Lena rushed to his side.「Yah. ...Stands up and wiped of the blood on his face... I'm OK. ...Opens Gate... Go through, OVER HERE, YOU BIG OVERGROWN SCALY IDIOT!」
They rushed into the portal, but Jay kept the entrance open, a swirling curtain of light where the Wyvern was heading.Liani's face, visible through the portal, showed genuine relief.
「I'm glad you made it back!」「Yah, and everyone step away from the Gate right now!」「Wait, why?」「Well...」
The Tyrant Wyvern, blinded by rage and pain, crashed headlong into the shimmering, magically-stabilized portal boundary, hitting a target that was only half there. The impact was enormous, creating a massive shockwave that rattled the entire Guild Hall.Jay grinned fiercely.
「This is why!」The Wyvern roared again, but this time, the sound was laced with desperation and agony.「It hurts, doesn't it? And you moved me back, too.」 Jay mocked. The Wyvern spoke, its voice a surprising, deep rumble.「So this is where I die. ...Then everyone was shocked...」【It can talk!】Jay looked down, the adrenaline fading into quiet acceptance.「Yah, I guess it is.」「Before you finish me, can I ask a favor of you?」「Yah, sure.」「The Dragon King of Fire... it falls on you to fight him in my place.」「Yah, sure, I don't mind.」 Jay accepted the absurd request with a nod.The Wyvern closed its injured eye.「Thank you, and I'm honored to have fallen to a warrior of your caliber. ...Then he transferred his power to Jay... Now, honor me with death.」Jay focused his will, initiating the final kill command.「OK... Close!」The portal instantly snapped shut. The Wyvern's body, caught halfway, was cleanly sliced in two.「Huh. Seems like it worked.」「What did?」 Liani asked, still reeling from the sudden appearance of the monster.「Well, a technique to kill Wyverns and Dragons.」「...Glad... That's amazing!」「We know, that's how Papa is.」 Lena declared proudly.Saalin moved to the slain beast, examining the body.「Master Jay, look at this! ...Jay goes to her...」「Huh... Metal. What kind, though?」「It looks like Mythril.」
Jay wasted no time. He opened his Dimensional Storage, and the two massive halves of the Tyrant Wyvern, along with the newly discovered Mythril deposits, instantly vanished inside.
「 Good. Now I have what I need for my experiments... Liani, can we get paid the one thousand gold now? I promised my Princess cake, and she's going to get it.」
