The Power That Should Not Exist—
Golden light swallowed Ivan the moment he stepped through the gate.
Not warm.
Not cold.
Just infinite.
Weightless.
He floated, limbs relaxed, eyes half-closed, as the Ascension Realm examined every piece of him — body, mind, heart, soul, fate.
A voice like a thousand echoes breathed around him:
“YOU HAVE SURPASSED ALL LIMITS.NOW… WHAT SHALL YOU BECOME?”
Ivan closed his eyes.
Images flashed around him:
—Surviving the First Veil by rejecting his weakest self.—Holding onto Elen’s memory during the Fourth Veil.—Breaking destiny in the Fifth.—Surviving the impossible in the Sixth.—And defeating himself in the Seventh.
Every moment of his journey pulsed in his chest like a beating sun.
“I don’t need to become a god,” Ivan whispered.“I don’t need glory.I don’t need power for power’s sake.”
A warm light wrapped around him.
“THEN WHAT DO YOU SEEK?”
Ivan didn’t hesitate.
“To protect the woman I love.To stand by her side.To live the life fate tried to take from us.”
The realm trembled.
A soft, almost emotional echo responded:
“THEN YOU SHALL RECEIVE…POWER THAT ANSWERS ONLY TO YOUR HEART.”
---
THE ASCENSION BEGINS
Ivan’s body rose higher — spreading out his arms as golden lines carved themselves across his skin like glowing tattoos.
His chest shined brightest.
Right where his heart was.
The golden thread wrapped around his wrist burned away into sparks—
—but the light didn’t disappear.
It sank into him.
Merged with him.
Became him.
THUMP.
His heartbeat shook the realm.
THUMP.
Stars trembled.
THUMP.
Galaxies flickered.
Then—everything went silent.
A whisper shook the infinite:
“THE RESONANT ASCENSION…AWAKENED.”
---
IVAN’S NEW FORM
Light exploded outward—
Not destructive.Not violent.But powerful.Pure.
The golden tattoos across his body extended into luminous patterns — like fate symbols rewritten in his own language.
His hair glowed faintly at the tips. His eyes radiated golden rings layered over his normal pupils, shifting like living light.
A faint aura surrounded him:
Not fire.Not energy.Not magic.
Something new.
Something that hummed like the heartbeat of the universe.
The Resonance.
A power born from his truth, not destiny.
A power that rejected every fate forced upon him.
A power that answered only to his determination.
---
WHAT THE POWER DOES
A whisper explained softly:
“THE RESONANT ASCENSION…A POWER THAT CAN BREAK CONCEPTS.”
Ivan frowned slightly.
“Concepts?”
“YES.NOT JUST METAL OR MAGIC…BUT INTANGIBLE THINGS.”
The voice grew clearer:
“OATHS.BARRIERS.CURSES.PROPHECIES.EVEN THE LIMITS OF REALITY.”
Ivan’s sword appeared in front of him — floating — glowing with the same golden pattern as his body.
The voice continued:
“YOUR BLADE NOW CUTS WHAT SHOULD NEVER BE CUT.JUST AS YOU BROKE YOUR OWN FATE…YOU CAN BREAK ALL FATES.”
Ivan stared at his hands.
They glowed, but they were still his hands.
His breath caught.
“…So I can protect her. Truly.”
“YES.NOTHING IN THE WORLD CAN SEPARATE YOU NOW.”
The realm seemed to bow to him as the golden light intensified.
But the voice wasn’t finished.
---
THE ASCENDED BURDEN
The light dimmed, becoming warm.
“You must understand something,” the voice said gently.“There is a cost to every power.”
Ivan’s eyes sharpened.
“What cost?”
“THIS POWER DOES NOT OBEY THE WORLD.IT OBEYS YOU.”
A pause.
“SO IF YOUR HEART EVER BREAKS…YOUR POWER WILL BREAK WITH IT.”
Ivan clenched his fist.
“Then I will never let my heart break again.”
Silence.
Then the realm dissolved.
---
RETURNING TO THE WORLD
Ivan felt ground beneath his feet.
Air in his lungs.
Warmth on his skin.
He stood in the same room where he began the trials — but everything was different. The torches flickered in awe.The walls vibrated softly from the energy radiating through him.
Ivan took a slow breath.
His aura dimmed to a soft golden glow.
A whisper echoed:
“GO.SHE IS WAITING.”
Ivan’s heart tightened.
Elen.
He finally had the strength to reach her.
He took a step forward—
And the floor cracked under his foot from the pressure of his new power.
Ivan held his breath.
“…I need to control this.”
But he smiled.
A calm, determined smile.
For the first time, power was not something he feared.
It was something that belonged to him.
Forever.
He looked up.
Toward the exit.
Toward the world.Toward Elen.
“Elen… I’m coming home.”
