Chapter 4:

Love, Love, Love

Proverty Hero

As I leave school today, and say goodbye to the security guard I see Damiain coming out with me.

“Have a good night.”

“You too.” We leave through the front door to the outside courtyard.

“Hehe, you're so polite.”

“Shut it.” I stop for a second to put the notebook I was holding into my bag. I felt in hurry to get out that day for no reason, just a feeling that I wanted some fresh air. The air felt different outside of school, made my head feel light, it felt nice.

As I finished putting my stuff in my bag I hear the door open again. A pretty milk chocolate skinned girl looks at me, and I look back.

“It’s cold out today isn’t it.” She puts her hands over her shoulders and pretends to shiver.

I smile and nod. “Yeah a little bit.” As she leaves with a little wave my breath felt like it was taken away. The rest of the way my head was all spaced out, and all I could think about was her, no really particular thought, just about her, her eyes, her smile, and how I wanted to see you again. Then I hear an annoying dummy ruin my trance.

“Hey, hey, you going back to dreamville already. You were already there in homeroom , come on.”

“My bad I was thinking about something.”

“Forget about that, you wanna get some burgers.”

This dummy. “Nah man, maybe next time.”

“Didn’t you get a job yet, by that pizza joint you were talking about.”

“Imma go check it out today, that’s why today aint great.”

“Oh my bad, aight good luck though.”

“Thanks man.”

“By the way your hair looks fly. What has it been, 2 months and 6 days since your last haircut?”

What the heck, I don’t even remember that much, whaat. Wait school didn’t even start yet.“I don’t know maybe. How the heck do you know it’s been two months.”

“Just a feeling.” We're just about the point where we part ways. He lived around here so he didn’t have to go too far to get home. I think most of the time he just walks me to the bus stop for fun.

“I’ll see ya man.”

“Seeya bro.” We do some weird handshake and he leaves the other way.

I wait just about 5 mins for the bus and then it shows up. Around this time just a couple of people are waiting at the bus stop, none are really people I know. One or two classmates, and the others just people going about their day tryna get to work or something. I wait for the others to get on before stepping onto the bus. I take my seat, and take my notebook out, It was my just about everything notebook, this year we didn’t need to use our notebook as much so I could get by with just one. I turn to today’s page filled with nothing but the date.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

Love, Love, Love

Do you think about me Cuz I’m thinking about you

When I see you smile you might just take my heart away

Whenever I see you I feel heavy

But at same time I start to feel light

My mind feel’s light

When your eyes meet mines

When you smile meets mine

My heart becomes light

I want you to think about me all day

I want you to think about me all night

I don’t want you to stop

Your always there with a rent free space in my mind

I’d say heaven made us meant to be

But damn am I scared when you around me

LOve, Love, LOVe

My heart starts to feel a little lighter, or maybe a little brighter, if that makes any sense. Writing poems was a habit that started when I was kid. When I was sad and times felt so rough and painful that I couldn’t take it anymore I’d write it out, my feelings, my pain, whatever I felt like, I wrote it, and that made me feel that life was more bearable, and it felt nice to put my feelings out there into words. It gave me a refreshed and nice feeling. Now I usually write about you, even though I am still fearful, and scared, and it feels painful, a love shreds through it, and it takes a voice as I write it out. As I finished writing I feel proud of it, the poem that no one probably will see, it felt like a painting of my feeling that if I wanted to I could look at again, or maybe… a manifestation of my soul.

The pizza joint I was heading to now wasn’t too far from my house, just about a stop away from my place. The bus ride seemed to go by in a flash, and I walked off the bus, and headed to the pizza place. I’ve been there a couple times, and they had pretty decent pizza. It was mostly late night dinners, and with friends that i’ve tried it, and the pie was pretty cheap, 7.99 a pie.

After about 5 minutes of walking I got to the store. The store was a pretty small store with a nice big neon sign in the front saying Nunzio’s Pizzaria. The store had just about 4 or 5 tables, which could fit about 4 seats each. I entered, and went to the register to ask the employees if they were hiring.

“Hi may I take your order.”

“Uhh I’m actually not here to take an order, I was here wondering if you guys were looking to hire any additional workers.”

“Ohhh gotcha, let me get my manager, I did hear about wanting to hire someone new.” After waiting for three minutes, a big Italian man, with a fierce mustache comes out, and when he spoke, I would describe it as the most Italian New York accent.”

“You wanna job ehh. Are you okay with cleaning dishes, and cleaning the toilets.”

I was pretty caught off guard by his appearance, and crazy accent. “Yeah, I’m good with that.”

“Excellent. When can you start?”

“Uhhh tomorrow.”

“Good, good, good, I’ll see you tomorrow then.”

“Okay, thank you.” I left the store, with the manager giving me a wave as I left.

“Damn he had one fat mustache.” Well I didn’t know much about getting jobs in general, but I don’t think it was supposed to be that easy. Well all I can do is pray that nothing bad happens. At this point I start walking home, my house is close enough, and I’m in the walking mood. To be honest living here was all right, the people at school might view my area as where crazy people, and criminals reside but I say most people are just eccentric, and everyone's got crazy in them. I’d just say that in this place a lot of bad things happen that you might’ve seen on the news, but for me also there was also happiness that I had, even with the sadness, and the pain that may come here.

The walk felt nice, I felt the wind, the sun, the air. I watched as the clouds moved from left to right. The walk passed by quick, and I got back home and started doing homework, and then another day went by.
