Betray

The pirates took Avery and Ervon to their leader. Ervon thought to himself, “Dammit, I don’t have anywhere else to go. How should I run?” He remembered to log out, and the blue screen appeared. He tried to log out, but it wouldn’t work.

Pirate 2452 said, “Sir, these rats were in hiding. Vice Captain Jone found them.”

Jone was standing behind Pirate 2452. He placed his hand on him and said, “Thank you for giving me my credits. If you hadn’t, I might have killed you.”

Pirate 2452 thought, “He can’t kill me. Even if I had lied, it wouldn’t matter in this crew. In this crew, if you have a good point, it means when a fight comes, you will win. But if you betray or kill one of our own, everyone will hate you.”

Pirate 2352 said, “You won’t kill me.”

Jone replied, “Is that right?”

Pirate 2352 moved away, but for some reason, he fell to the ground. Avery and Ervon opened their eyes wide in shock. Pirate 2352 scratched his head, thinking, “Uhh, dammit, this is so embarrassing.” He tried to get up, but he realized he had no lower body. He died from losing a lot of blood. Avery could smell the stench of it.

Jone looked up at his captain. “Hey, captain, what should I do with these two rats?”

Avery and Ervon were confused. Ervon said, “You just killed one of your own men, and your captain doesn’t even care about that.”

Jone said, “It is what it is. He doesn’t care if I end up killing his entire crew.”

Ervon asked, “Why is that?”

Jone explained, “A few decades ago, he wasn’t our captain. He was a strong man. But then someone joined the crew and killed the former captain.”

Ervon asked, “Who did it, and how?”

Jone continued, “Faton did it.” Avery looked confused. “What are you saying, Faton?”

Jone explained, “Faton was the little brother of the former captain. I was only 12 years old at the time. Our former captain was stronger than a whole nation. The next day, we woke up to see Faton removing the skin from someone’s body. I almost puked from disgust. When the skin was gone, he cooked it with fire ability. I tried to find the captain, but he was nowhere. Later, a note said, ‘If anything happens to me, you must make my little brother your captain.’ There was blood on the floor. Other members tried to help me find the captain, but we only found Faton eating the corpse. Many members sobbed and cried. I took out my dagger and stabbed Faton.”

Jone continued, “We don’t know what happened to the captain’s little brother, but he hasn’t spoken to us. He doesn’t fight enemies; he eats corpses of anyone every day. He removes heads and skin, cooks them, and eats them while crying halfway through.”

Avery said, “That must be one sick person.”

Jone took Ervon and Avery to the basement of the ship and threw them into a cell. As he was about to leave, Ervon asked, “Don’t you want to tell me the whole story?”

Jone remembered and said, “Yeah, why not? I’ll tell the story of us suffering for no reason at all.”

Ervon asked, “How many years has it been since that happened, the death of your captain?”

Jone said, “Maybe 23 years.”

Avery said, “You said a few decades. A few stands for three, but you said only 23.”

Jone said, “You don’t want to mess with a little girl. We haven’t seen any new enemies for the past week. We might make you our captain’s next meal.”

Avery quickly said, “I was just joking. I don’t want to go to places like that.”

Then suddenly, one of the pirate members shouted, “Enemy attack!”
