Chapter 5:
Summer Hyakumonogatari
Finishing her story and letting out a small breath, Sayuri suddenly widened her eyes.
“…Ah—this wasn’t related to the bathroom at all. Forget that! I’ll tell a different one.”
It seemed she had taken the joke about “a story that makes you too scared to go to the bathroom” completely literally.
“More importantly, was that…a true story?”
Speaking on behalf of the viewers’ curiosity, Yuka asked with a straight face.
“Yeah, It was.”
Sayuri tilted her head, looking back at her in puzzlement.
“Huh? You’ve got all your limbs, right? How did you even escape from that? Don’t tell me… this is your second time becoming a ghost?”
Yuka voiced the exact question the viewers had been wondering about.
“Ah, since my hands and feet were gone, I just pulled myself out easily.
And that supernatural being only seems to appear from night until dawn, so once morning came I could simply get out.
I can fly even without my hands and feet, and once I slept they healed… so I’m really glad I’m a ghost!”
Sayuri laughed in her usual carefree way. Both Yuka and the viewers were left speechless for a moment.
Sensing the atmosphere, Sayuri let her eyes dart around and, after a brief pause, said,
“Um… I might’ve exaggerated a little. Sorry?”
“Good job apologizing.”
“If she exaggerated it, does that mean the part about getting carved was real?”
The comment section began to stir.
“Well, I’ve got way worse ones, so I’m totally fine!”
Sayuri gave a light laugh and turned back toward the camera.
“Anyway, here comes the one that’ll make you scared to go to the bathroom at night—let’s go!”
“Yes! Do it!”
Yuka replied on impulse.
“Okay!”
Sayuri thrust her fist upward and dove straight into the next paranormal story.
