Chapter 5:

“Heavy Idiot, Strong Girl”

“The Womenizer’s Redemption: Sent to Find the One True Love”

Kaiee remained on the floor exactly where the Aether Wall had spiritually executed him.
Face in the ground.Arms limp.Butt slightly raised like a defeated NPC ragdoll.
Angels, demons, hybrids everyone walked by pointing and laughing.

“Bro actually got roasted by a ROCK”
“Negative mana is CRAZY”
“Man’s magic level is basement-tier”
Just as the crowd noise grew louder
ARISA jumped in front of Kaiee like a knight shielding a fallen warrior.

“That’s enough!” she shouted, arms spread wide.“No one should laugh at someone’s weakness! Have some dignity! Angels or demons you should be BETTER than this!”
The area went silent for a second.
Then a demon whispered to his friend:
“Wow… she’s scary when she’s mad…”
An angel nodded
“Remind me never to get on her bad side.”
They quickly scattered muttering curses under their breath but retreating anyway.
Arisa turned back toward the “corpse” of Kaiee on the ground.

She knelt.“Kaiee… hey. Get up. You’re not weak, okay? Even without mana”
She shook him gently.
His head rolled to the side.
Eyes closed.
Soft breathing.
He was asleep. He had fallen asleep mid-depression.
Arisa stared.
“…You are… truly… the MOST stupid, carefree man alive.”
She sighed, then muttered to herself:
“I can’t leave him here. Ugh. Guess I’ll take him home.”
She grabbed him under the arms
And instantly regretted it.
“WHAT WHY ARE YOU SO HEAVY?! What are you made of, bricks?!”She tried again, grunting like she was lifting a boulder.
“If… I… die… carrying… this… oaf… I will haunt him…”
But somehow through sheer stubbornness she managed to lift him onto her back and drag him home.

Kaiee blinked awake to the smell of warm soup and soft lighting.
He sat up.
“Where… am I?”
Arisa sat at the foot of the bed, arms crossed.
“My house, Mr. Heavy. Do you know how hard it was to carry you? I think my spine leveled down.”
Kaiee froze.
“Y-YOUR house?!”He leapt off the bed like it was on fire.“What time is it?!”
“Evening. You can relax.”
Kaiee sighed in relief then thought:
If she had big never mind. She’s flat. I’ll go home.
(He didn’t realize he said it out loud.)
Arisa stared.
“…Die.”

God rubbed his temples.
“Still the same idiot mentality… useless as ever.”
Devil King cackled.
“LET HIM COOK, GOD. LET’S SEE HOW THIS PLAYS OUT.”
God groaned. “He needs therapy.”

Arisa stood by the doorway.
“You can have dinner with us tonight.”
Kaiee blinked.“…Us?”
“Me and my mom.”
Kaiee looked around. “Where is she?”
Arisa’s face softened.
“She’s sick. A strange type of magic… or virus. Doctor said it’s powerful magic cast by the Demon King. That’s why I work at the Demon Hunter HQ. That’s why I need Bulls Guild’s help. I’m trying to find her cure.”
A single tear slid down her cheek before she wiped it quickly.
“…Dinner is downstairs. Come when you're ready.”
She left without looking back.
Kaiee stood there, now actually feeling something other than hunger.

Kaiee came downstairs.
Arisa’s mother rested on a bed near the dining table, weak but smiling softly.Arisa fed her small spoonfuls of soup.
When the mother noticed Kaiee, her voice came out fragile, barely a whisper:
“And… who is this young man?”
Arisa answered before Kaiee could panic.
“He’s another hunter. He fell asleep at HQ so I brought him here. He’ll eat with us tonight.”
Her mother nodded gently.
“Oh… I see… welcome…”
Kaiee sat at the table.Arisa placed a plate in front of him.
The second it hit the wood
Kaiee devoured it like a starving wolf.
Arisa’s mom chuckled softly.
“What… a healthy boy… eating like that…”
But she coughed immediately after.
Arisa panicked.“Mom! Don’t talk too much. Please.”
Kaiee slowed down, feeling guilty.
After dinner, he suddenly realized something:
He had no home to return to.
He froze.
Arisa noticed instantly.
“…Kaiee. Don’t you want to go home?”
Kaiee scratched his head.
“I, uh. Well. I kinda. Don’t have one.”
Silence.
Then his brain screamed:
WHY DID I SAY THAT OUT LOUD?! STUPID!! STUPID!!
Arisa sighed.
“Then stay here. At least until you’re stable.”
Kaiee slammed to his knees like she offered him a divine blessing.
“THANK YOU THANK YOU SAINT ARISA THANK YOU”
“Get up. You look like you’re proposing.”

They both entered Arisa’s room.
One bed.Two people.Immediate awkward silence.
Arisa cleared her throat.
“I’ll sleep on the floor with blankes. You take the bed.”
Kaiee’s brain
Say yes? No. That’s shameless. But yes is comfy. No no Kaiee be a man
He puffed out his chest.
“I’ll sleep on the floor! You take the bed!”
Arisa smiled a tiny smile.
“…Good.”
They both settled.
Lights off.
Silence.
Kaiee stared at the ceiling.
Arisa stared at the wall.
Two idiots sharing the quiet night.
Chapter End.
