Chapter 17:

The fate of a cheater

My Dark Lord Roommate

“W-What!?! What the hell did you just do!”

“Isn’t it obvious, I evened the playing field.”

For the first time during this bout, Marcus looked at me in bewilderment. I’m shocked too, I didn’t expect to learn something from this cheating asshole. Now all that’s left is to give him a taste-

“Wait, I’m curious about what you did too!”

I turned my head to see Nina staring at me puzzled, I guess that’s understandable. She’s never seen me use magic before, but then again can’t she see I’m busy right now. Nina fell on her ass after regaining control of her body so she was dusting herself off and holding her swollen bottom. I simply stared at her blankly and gave a deadpan response.

“...Kinda busy over here, why don’t you do your job and cheer for me a bit.”

“YOU LITTLE! You think I wanted to wear this filth, actually can I even take this off!”

Nina began pulling at the uniform like some cartoon character, the clothes didn’t budge an inch. Well now that she’s preoccupied, I turn my head back and glared at Marcus. He took a few steps back, but then put his poker face back on.

“H-Heh! You thought you could scare me! Listen here brat, this is my domain! Even without my prided balls, I’m still the king of the court!”

Marcus began stocking magic into his arms again, well I can’t be the odd one out can I? I followed his trend and began building up mana in my arms, or at least I tried. The mana began to dissipate, looks like i should focus on one at a time for now. While I was working my stuff out, Marcus chuckled.

“Heh, you think I’m just gonna wait here while you’re serving yourself up like this!”

Marcus lunged at me, I gave up on offense and started dodging. Marcus began hurling his fist at me, I could feel the danger emanating off each punch. Taking one blow undefended could be lethal, luckily mana perception is letting me know where the attacks will land. I’m surprised however, I’ve dodged all his blows so far. I’m surprised he didn’t lose his cool like Bernard and-

Just then I felt my back hit something, I looked over my shoulder to see the wall of the gym. Dammit, he was backing me in a corner! I look back in front of me to see that muscle head gleeful expression as he winded up a serious gut punch. I won’t be able to dodge in time!

*Smash*

The punch connected with the center of my stomach, pushing me into the wall behind me.

“THOMAS!”

“Well well well, I guess you really were just hot air after al-”

Before Marcus could finish, I closed the distance between us and gave him the same courtesy I received. I punched him square in the chest, sending him sliding across the floor. Marcus held his chest and gave me a crazed look.

“HOW THE HELL DID YOU SURVIVE THAT!”

“I applied the trick you showed me.”

I used mana to protect my chest from the incoming damage, I then pretended to be hurt to throw him off. I smirked as I watched Marcus’ expression, if only the gallery wasn’t giving me flack.

“Idiot! This isn’t the time to show off, beat this guy already!”

I plan to do just that Nina, if you just shut up. I began walking up to Marcus, building up mana in my left hand. The oaf began standing, holding his chest which still ached from my surprise attack. He could no longer put on a strong face, but that didn’t stop him from rushing at me.

“DAMN YOU!”

He rushed towards me with his right arm prepped to swing. Soon enough my left hand and his right collided, Marcus probably thought he could win a battle of strength. However, he forgot to envelop his fist in mana. Soon cracks began to form on the fools fist, those cracks began moving up his arm.

“Wh-WHAT!?!”

The pressure from my blow sent him flying back again, the only difference this time was that his right arm was gone. It crumbled away into a hazy mist, Marcus howled in pain holding the spot of his missing arm. Then he began to vomit from the pain, I guess ghosts really do have ectoplasm. He looked at me with hatred and then threw words of scorn my way.

“D-Damn you! How dare you do this to me!”

I smirked at him seeing that anger, that’s when I noticed some noise from the sidelines. I turned to see a terrifying sight.

“That’s it Tom! You’re our man, use your strength to beat that man!”

It was the sight of the once proud Nina, now giving into her destiny to be a cheerleader. I cringed at the sight and turned away, as for our king.

“Bastard, that girl was supposed to be mine. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MY DAY!”

“That’s where you're wrong.”

Marcus winced as I began walking towards him, I looked him in the eyes and told him these bitter words.

“Your day ended the moment you died, now go back to sleep in the bowels of this old school building!”

Marcus yelled at me to stay away, but I kept moving forward. He tried to use his left hand to keep me away, resulting in me destroying it with my right. All Marcus could do was watch as I closed the small gap between us. That’s when I heard his true voice, the voice of someone weak and pathetic.

“P-Please don’t do this, no more!”

“You should’ve thought about that before acting the way you did, haven’t you ever heard the saying that cheaters never win.”

Saying that I pulled my left hand back and punched the hole where his right eye should be.
