Chapter 18:

A hazy conclusion and the next trial

My Dark Lord Roommate

“Yeah yeah I knew I was right, take that ugly we won this-WHAT THE HELL AM I SAYING!!!”

Nina seems to have broken free of her trance now, as for Marcus he slumped on the floor crying in pain. Never thought I’d ever make a ghost cry, what kind of loser was this guy in his old life. Suddenly that strange haze from before came back, it moved throughout the gymnasium. It covered the floor and then began to move up, Nina yelped as the haze covered her body. The result was her original clothes returning, much to her enjoyment. That’s when I noticed, during my fight with Marcus the gym looked like it was brand new. Now the gym looks old and dilapidated, perhaps the haze was Marcus’ control on this place. Meaning he’s done now, he’s lost his hold.

I turned to look back at Marcus only to notice something, his arms were back. Not that it mattered, his body was skin and bones now, is this really the guy that pummeled me before. Nina walked up beside me looking annoyed, I couldn’t help but say it.

“That was a pretty good job, cheer captain!”

“BITE ME! More importantly, I have a few choice words for this loser!”

Marcus looked tensed up when he heard that, he looked at us in fear. That hulking behemoth was now a skinny little pipsqueak, he began to hobble back as Nina walked up to him cracking her fists.

“You little perv, changing my clothes and forcing me to dance to your tune!”

“I’m Sorry Please Forgive Me!”

“LIKE HELL I WILL!”

Marcus ran as Nina chased him throughout the gym, why is he so afraid her fist will just pass through him. Eventually Marcus tripped and fell, Nina made a sadistic smile as she waltzed up to him. This led Marcus to scream in fear, feels a little over the top if you ask me. Nina said the same thing.

“Shut Up! Accept your punishment already!”

“NOOO!!!! Please stay back, you have her smell on you!”

Her? Who’s this “her” he’s speaking of? That’s when a feeling of dread washed over me, even Nina began to panic. We both looked towards the exit of the gym, and that’s when it happened. The doors blew open, and hazy blood red hands came flying in. Nina and I panicked, but the hands didn’t come for us. They grabbed the defeated Marcus, and dragged him away as he began screaming.

“NO PLEASE! Give me another chance! PLEASE!”

Marcus began wailing, and then he looked at us with pleading eyes. However, we did nothing, we just stood there in silence. It felt like one false move would lead to our downfall, and as we stood there Marcus left us with one last message.

“I should hate you, I really should, but no one deserves what’s waiting at the top floor. Run, get out of here while you still can! No one deserves to deal with her!”

Marcus screamed as the hands pulled him away, and there it was again. The mention of “her”, what kind of spirit was Marcus referring to. I looked at Nina who was terrified, and tapped her shoulder. She looked at me in fear, I simply pointed towards the door leading out the gym. I know it’s scary, but someone has to save the others. Summoning her strength, Nina followed me as we exited the gym.

“Did you find anything yet?”

“No, I’ll keep reading the occult club’s notebook though.”

We managed to make it to the next floor with no trouble. I decided to have Nina research our enemy while I tried to recover my lost energy. I gotta be careful, Eve isn’t here to help me and I don’t know what else is lying in store for us.

*Drip*

I stopped moving, what the hell was that sound just now. I looked over at Nina to see if it was her, this lead to her staring at me puzzled.

“What’re you looking at?”

“Did you hear that?”

“...You’re not trying to scare me are you?”

“No, I honest to god heard-”

*Drip drip*

We both froze right there, so it wasn’t just me. Even Nina heard it this time, something must be close by. That’s when Nina looked at the direction we were walking and froze, I turned and paused too. There it was, liquid dripping from the ceiling and starting to pool on the floor. Nina began to look up towards the ceiling and covered her mouth as the blood drained from her face. I looked up and froze too, on the ceiling was a massive blob like monster. What the hell is that thing! That’s when I noticed something else, liquid was dripping behind us too. Don’t tell me!?!

“Crap! Nina, get over here!”

“Huh!?! Wait, what are you doing!”

There was no time, I grabbed Nina and jumped away from the spot we were in. As I did, the slime like liquid on the ground sprouted up to attack us. To make matters worse, our ceiling friend decided to drop down. If we stayed in our previous spot we would’ve been goners. I decided to place Nina down, and that’s when something clicked with her. She opened the notebook up again and trembled when she found a certain page.

“No way, I jinxed us didn’t I…”

“Nina, you know what this thing is!”

“I don’t know for sure, but it’s the only logical answer. That slime blob over there, that’s Leaky Lewey!”
