Chapter 65:

Flu?, Chapter 65

False Saviour

A whistle followed after the arrow striking beside the tree, the rabbit fell dead as the snow shifted red, the little sound it made announced it dinner time

Doryon walked towards it taking the small creature by the ears, he stared his friends, Jason and Seryon saying

“I guess the 3 of us will share this one”

They placed it inside the boiling water closing the pot chut. The 3 of them circled the fire turning it into their comfort zone

They added sticks every once in a while, not seeking light, for that night has long since perished, all they wished was the warmth to hug them just a little longer

“So… what did you guys see?” Seryon whispered to Doryon, his eyes locked on Jason who kept his space from the fire merely feeling the hot air it released

Seating the ground, his hand bedding his knees and covering his facial features

“I wasn’t able to see the full thing” replied Doryon “But I did watch from the distance as a sole masked man walking away”

“What?!” said Seryon in shock “and We allowed him to just go? Knowing that he must have an understanding of our location!”

“Don’t say that to me” replied Doryon sharpening some sticks into arrows “Go talk it out with Ramo if it bothers you this much”

“I did not mean it like that” said Seryon lowering his voice

“Ohhhh… are you perhaps… Afraid?” said Doryon mockingly

“Afraid? Pffft, you’re kidding me, I am not afraid of an old half blind man” replied Seryon

“How about you say it to his face” Doryon smiling pointed behind Seryon, he faced his back swiftly as sweat showered him

No one was there

“So, you are afraid” said Doryon

“Wh— How— stop playing mind games on me” said Seryon with his index in Doryon’s face

Slowly he shifted gaze towards Jason

“Is he okay?” whispered Seryon

“I mean he did tell us back in the shelter that a masked man was the cause for his father’s death” said Doryon

“Wait he did?” Seryon with a face full of shock

“Wither it is this one or another we might not know” said Doryon

“What is he some kind of a home pet getting depressed all over again” Seryon said Standing up

“Stop crying already, get over it” said Seryon kicking him to the side

Doryon said “You really don’t know how to comfort someone”

“It is not my fault that everything depresses him, this is so unrealistic” said Seryon staring Jason who was flat on the ground “Even I don’t react to dogs like this and I have a rough history with them”

Doryon Sighed and walked up to Jason and patted his shoulder saying “If you don’t feel good, go rest in the tent, I will bring— Huh?”

“What is wrong?” asked Seryon

“His head… its. Bruning!” said Doryon as Seryon’s face drained of all colour, true fear embodied itself inside his flesh

Running while carrying him Seryon said

“Getting the flu, now of all times”

“In this cold wither he will be dead in matter of days” replied Doryon helping him from the other side as they crossed through the different tents attempting to reach the chief’s

Reaching it, Ramo was inside with his assistant

“He got the flu!” said Seryon not leaving any chance for conversation

Ramo without hesitation ordered them saying “Clean up the table”

Doryon did as he was ordered saying “What are we going to do, the doctor we had was left in the new shelter”

Ramo opened Jason’s mouth and started staring around in there

“What are you doing?” asked Seryon

“Checking him” replied Ramo

“Did you even hear us?” said Seryon getting frustrated “He got the flu! He’ll be dead in days without the right person”

“I am the right person” said Ramo

Seryon was confused “… you are a sparing teacher”

“A leader, a warrior, and a doctor as well” said Ramo

“How does that even work” said Seryon

“When you are as old as me, then it does work” replied Ramo

“We are wasting time!” said Seryon “he needs the right medicine and—”

Ramo cut him saying “Look, child, I know you are worried, you see yourself in him after all”

“Wh—what?! That is absurd! That has nothing to do with what I said up until now” said Seryon

“I don’t care how close are both of your back stories” said Ramo “If this is indeed as bad as i think it is” checking his eyes “Then he won’t make it back to the shelter, and even if he manages it”

As he turned towards the kids he continued “he will have infected most of us”

“You are not saying, that we need to kill him, right?” asked Doryon as Seryon’s fears grew larger

“That never left my mouth” said Ramo “Although it is possible”

“But don’t worry” said Ramo stopping them from taking any unnecessary actions “I don’t plan on losing a soldier in here to mere flu”

“And what is your plan?” asked Doryon, Ramo did not reply, his eyes wide open staring into Jason’s

“Hello?!!” said Seryon waking him up

Ramo removed his hands cleaning them with water, he then spoke

“I will assign someone to take care of him. We can’t have him spreading his… disease around here” said Ramo

“And who will that be?” asked Seryon

“My assistant” replied Ramo pointing at him

“Hmm?” the assistant who was checking Jason’s eyes and mouth looked up

“That is basically a death penalty to him! To both of them” said Seryon “To separate them from the group in this weather and these times!”

“Kid, you might be the new chief’s younger brother, but here, I am the chief” said Ramo coming closer staring Seryon down “He will because I order it, isn’t that right Miyo?”

“Oh yeah I will of course” said Miyo his assistant whilst cleansing his hands

“You both need to go and change clothes before you get sick as well, we can’t afford taking care of you as well” said Ramo

“Come one lets go” said Doryon taking Seryon with him

“Don’t! touch me” said Seryon removing the hands on his shoulder as he walked out

A moment after they left, Ramo went into a box he was hiding beneath his bed. Pulling it out and opening it, it held many small Wooden cases

“Take this one with you” said Ramo handing one to Miyo

“For how long do I have to take him?” said Miyo

“Just enough to be sure” replied Ramo

Miyo took it upon himself to travel his own path holding Jason on his shoulder. Placing him on his lap he led his own way using his horse as Seryon and Doryon watched from the carriage they were in
