Chapter 11:
Bio-Mage
“So, since we’ve been workin’ pretty hard these past few days, I was thinkin’ that we should have a team Name!”
“Kay, the radio comms aren’t meant for casual conversation.” Yuuichirou swiftly opened the radio line to maintain some order.
The plan has been set in motion. Moku had each action well thought out for his scheme. The unnamed team spent the past four days in preparation, avoiding the spies with ease, now that they’re aware of their movements. The time is right to hopefully gain some information about the constant incurring madness.
Not far from Zuina’s home, Moku and Yuuichirou are canned inside of Moku’s well fortified van, built for living in as well as a hot spot for whatever unexpected upheaval may happen. Zuina and Kay stayed inside the comfort zone ready for the signal, rather bait. Getsurin: The plan was to lure the spies to a position to make their move. They just had to wait until they were either stationed by Kay or Getsurin. And Getsurin was the lucky one, making sure that they were following him and taking them to the ambush point. Just to hopefully get some answers as to what the hell is happening.
“Awwe, come on, it's just a question! Viscera Vengeance, or Prime Mages?!” Kay whined into the device, but still ignored the suggestion and showed off her creativity.
“I mean, she does have a point, we should call ourselves something.” Zuina giggled in agreement with Kay.
“How about we focus on the task at hand, then we can chat all day about a badass name.” Yuuichirou voiced with annoyed sarcasm.
“Booo.” Kay protested.
“Back in my Conscription days, I had a pretty fun group of guys and we called ourselves The Kirin Creative.” Moku recalled with fondness. “Because we were odd, and had odd skills individually that didn’t make any sense, but when we were together. Oh man, we were unstoppable.” He continued with a hint of nostalgia.
“Yo! That’s a badass name! Let’s use that!” Kay excitedly shouted into the radio.
“Conscription? You mentioned that you were in the Military, but Japan doesn’t have any compulsory enlistment. In fact, I don’t think we've had anything like that since world war 2.” Yuuichirou asked.
“Yeah, you’re right, I, uh, forgot to mention, but I was raised in South Korea.” Moku confessed.
“That explains the accent.” Zuina quickly chimed in over the radio. “But your name?” She intuitively asked, recognizing that the phonetics don’t match a Korean native name.
“More of a nickname.” Moku casually announced.
“Ah.”
“Yeah.”
“Of course."
The three somewhat sighed at the obvious conclusion that Moku has many secrets, so why not his name as well.
At this point, there isn’t much surprise that Moku is actually a moniker. Over the past few days of preparation, Moku has revealed much of his hidden talents and resources. Coupled with the aforementioned ‘connections’ that no one else in Japan has, but in these dire states of worry and desperation for answers. The connections were certainly helpful, exactly what this team needed. Crash courses on tactical maneuvers and hand to hand combat, ending with the highlight of the week: Guns. Practice shooting big guns, small guns, and powerful guns. Moku recognizes that they need more practice, but at minimum they’re aware of them and can plan around them if the time comes.
With the experience that no one man should know: Moku is suspecting that the time may come sooner than anyone wants. Maybe not the Bio-Mages, or the spies, but it could be something right at home. As he so cautiously stated.
“Getsurin’s Mom is in South Korea right now. They won't let her back in Japan, cuz they've closed all international travel.” Kay mentioned, somewhat low, seeing the gravity of Japan’s caution.
“Is she okay?” Zuina asked with care.
“Yeah, Getsurin said that she’s mostly pissed off, but her company is taking care of her, until this mess is sorted out.” Kay explained.
“Whereabouts?” Moku asked with curiosity.
“Bu, Bu, uh, Bu something.” Kay struggled to remember.
“Busan?”
“Yeah, that’s it!”
“Oh yeah, if her company is setting her up there, she’ll be fine. Beautiful beaches.” Moku reassured.
“That’s good.” Kay mentioned, but forgetting to open the line to the radio.
“You seem a little worried about her.” Zuina noticed.
“Yeah, hah, he’s just a good woman, I have good memories of her… But it's probably best she's not here right now, right?” Kay divulged, leaving the radio line closed.
“Hard to say, the current state of things feels pretty unpredictable. I believe we'll be all right at the end of all of this.” Zuina radiated with positivity.
“I hate to go back to it but, speaking of the military, I just caught wind this mornin’ that US troops will be showing up pretty soon, so whatever we find out today, we’re going to have to act fast with it.” Moku announced.
“That’s going to be interesting.” Yuuichirou remarked.
“Sure is, I live here because there’s hardly ever any conflict, but that’s why you should always be prepared.” Moku mentioned.
“Hey, hey, I just got Getsurin’s signal text, he’s about to turn the corner!” Kay quickly relayed to everyone.
“Alright, remember, this radio jammer will scramble all communications they may have, but that goes for what we have too. So stick to the plan and we won’t need to communicate.” Moku reminded everyone.
Getsurin turned the corner. He then followed the procedure and quickly hid in one of the neighbour's closed yards, losing the spies’ sight of him. Then just as planned, the spy's vehicle soon turned the corner as well.
“I got eyes on the Prize. Same carriage.” Yuuichirou relayed.
The spy’s vehicle slowly cruised down the already tight street, creeping closer to Moku’s van. Slower than usual, as they were likely expecting to see Getsurin.
“Going dark in 3… 2… 1…” Moku communicated as the moments of action approached.
The spy’s vehicle drove past Zuina’s home, crawling closer to the Van. The position of the vehicle was nearly in the desired spot. Moku readied hands to drive, Kay and Zuina ran to their position, Getsurin hurried into the back alleys for his placement. Everyone, covered in dark clothing to hide their identity.
Without a moment to spare, Moku sped to the vehicle, screeching the rear tires, in mere seconds the van was next to the vehicle, door to door. Trapped on the right and left, between the van and another car on the street. Just as swiftly, Kay hopped behind the vehicle, denying any chance of them going in reverse. And since the rest of the street had no clean exits to the main roads. The spies were undoubtedly trapped.
Moku quickly opened the side door of the van, a weapon ready.
“Out now.” A covered faced Moku forced open the driver door, gun drawn. Revealing a frustrated man in suspiciously casual clothing, but it was clear that they knew that their cover’s been blown. The man in the passenger side, was less frustrated as his face was colored white, as if all of the blood drained from his face. More scared as his hands were already upward in defeat.
“I’m not going to ask again. We know you're spying game.” Moku released the gun’s safety.
The man in the driver's seat slowly got out of the car, hands held upward. The other man soon followed, coming out the driver’s side too. The two were swiftly placed in cable tie bindings and faces covered, to then be placed in the back of the van.
“Eyes, Hands, check them while I’m driving.” Moku directed, using the code name Eyes for Getsurin and Hands for Yuuichirou. Closing the van side door. “Hearts, Aces, take the car to a lot and search for any tracking, or stuff of interest, then drop it off somewhere inconspicuous.” He then instructed Kay, Hearts, and Zuina, Aces. For Moku to then promptly drive off.
Mission: Success.
