Chapter 1:
The father's frequency
Johan and Emma arrived at his father’s old house on the outskirts of the village. The house stood alone, surrounded by dense forests that seemed to guard their secrets.
As Emma sat before the device and pulled out her tools, her eyes sparkled behind her oversized glasses. "This... this is unlike anything I’ve seen before, Johan. This isn't just a metal detector."
"Then what is it?" Johan asked anxiously.
Emma carefully opened a panel on the side. "The internal structure is like a clock, but it’s not for measuring time. It measures universal frequencies. Look at this..."
As she connected the third wire, the small screen flickered to life with a faint blue glow. A set of numbers appeared: 01:20:00.
Johan was stunned. "One hour and twenty minutes? What does that mean?"
Before Emma could answer, the device began to vibrate softly. At that same moment, the old map lying next to them started to glow, revealing a shining line that led toward the mountains behind the village.
But their excitement was short-lived.
"Vroom..."
A loud noise echoed from outside—the sound of heavy engines. Johan rushed to the window. Two large black SUVs had pulled into the yard. Armed men in dark suits stepped out.
"Johan! I told you we’d get into trouble! Who are they?" Emma whispered, her voice trembling.
Johan’s heart raced, but as he looked at one of the cars, he caught sight of a familiar face. "That... that’s my uncle? Why is he here?"
His uncle’s voice boomed from outside, giving orders to his men: "Search the house! I want the boy and the device. Don't let them escape!"
Johan grabbed Emma’s hand and shoved the device and the map into a backpack. "Emma, we have to run! The back door, now!"
