Chapter 2:

Chapter 3

The father's frequency

Johan and Emma scrambled out the back door, disappearing into the dark, looming forest. The heavy thud of boots and the sweeping beams of flashlights followed them from every direction.
Johan’s uncle, Arthur, shouted with a chilling coldness, “Johan! Running is useless. That device doesn't belong to you. Your father gave his life for it; I won’t let you make the same mistake!”
Johan gripped Emma’s hand tighter. “Don't listen to him, Emma. He only wants the power it holds.”
As they reached the base of the massive mountain, the device inside Johan’s backpack began to beep rapidly. Beep... Beep... Beep...
“Hurry, we’re running out of time!” Emma cried. “The frequency says the entrance is here, but I don’t see anything!”
Suddenly, a brilliant blue beam shot out from the backpack, hitting the solid rock face. The stone wall began to ripple like water.
Arthur and his men closed in, leveling their weapons at them. Arthur smirked, a wicked glint in his eyes. “Thank you, Johan... for opening the door for me.”
