Healing with time [end of book]

Years flew by, I never did go back home. I wondered about my grandma but she passed in the two years I was away. Potato and Tasha are old now and the little girl that adopted them is in school. Chris... he got a lot of girls pregnant and is working multiple jobs to cover child support. I could go back but the thought of not coming back to everyone here hurt my heart more.

Everyone is doing good though. Amaya opened up her own shop in a swamp. Something about wanting the people there to have a better sense of fashion. Her clothes are famous though so people come from all over for them. Mitus and Amaya officially got together and will be married next month. So that makes Olive and Pearl sisters right? Anyways Pearl and Mitus travel around the country to learn from masters, train some people in basic healing and heal people when they can.

Arata and Leaf are living like nomads. Leaf's parents found him after the fight and where filled with happy tears. So they are all wandering around healing the land and keeping an eye on boarding countries.

Elbereth and Kem got together a month or so after the battle. Pearl stuck her nose in that one, she also roped Dre in on it. The whole time telling him that if he flings Elbereth off him so Kem has to catch her, it will be this magical scene. Anyways Elbereth's riding skills are top notch so she never got flung off. He ended up trying to roll to get her off and it was a big confused mess. That mess ended with Dre spilling everything when asked what was going on. When Kem and Elbereth said not to butt in, Dre cried saying he is happy when they are together and wants them happy. In the end they just stopped being so awkward together.

Now Kem is incharge of the council and is ruling with a gentle voice. When the gentle voice doesn't work he calls on his friends to help put an end to any fights before they even start.

That's where Sonja and I come in. We keep in touch with everyone since they have a large network of people. Meaning our intell is solid. We usually take care of things ourselves so that way Elbereth, Mitus, Amaya and Arata can continue to work in the shadows as normal citizens. Elbereth as captain of the country's knights and wizards. Mitus as the traveling healer. Amaya as a seamstress. And Arata with many names but one being called the land healing monk.

The relationship between Sonja and I is something special. Since our friendship blossomed strongly over orbie calls we started to feel romantic feelings for each other soon after being reunited. 

Sheldon gets a little moody if we are too lovey dovey in front of her still. So she does spend a lot of time out at sea. Her view of humans has changed over time though. She won't admit it but several times word got to us that during a storm a long serpent like creature saved them. 

Maddie left a year ago saying something about mating season. Sonja and I both put our hands up telling her to go do her thing. Sonja says she should be back any time now. Not going to lie, I do want to see how stumpy leg a baby dragon is.

Sonja and I spend a lot of time outside of our cabin. At night if she doesn't wake screaming from a nightmare and I can't find her in bed she is out under the stars. I curl up with her to keep her warm since Blaze's powers are still with me. Sonja has told me she feels claustrophobic at times when in the cabin. She won't admit it but being kept in that mansion for so long took a toll on her mentally. Sonja did what she had to do to stay alive and had to endure Gilton's visits. I think she doesn't talk about it because I feel bad as is for not getting her sooner.

I never heard from Blaze again. I visited the lava lake multiple times right after the battle and then several times over the past few years. I do know he is with me though every time I use the power he blessed me with. I cherish the memories I do have with him and always pay attention to when Pearl tells a granny story with him in it. 

Chip also passed away but his rapidly growing family stops by often for fruit. They get upset if Sonja and I are gone for long periods of time working. I might have named his children potato chip flavors.

Last but not least is Tundra. When I heard his voice on the battlefield it was thanks to the dragon laud. The story Tundra told us about Gilton commanding him to be silent for life, to stop crying and have no expression was a sad story. He was strong like Gilton wanted but has a gentle demeanor. So everything he did was at Gilton's order with no escape. Tundra has been diligently doing good deals everywhere he goes to help him feel better. The public was hesitant at first. They cursed and threw things at him til Tundra saved a child that got lost in the woods then they started to warm up to him. 

"Ragon?" I can hear Sonja's voice pulling me out of my thoughts. 

"Mm?" I hum looking up at her from the ground outside our cabin.

She leans over tucking a strand of purple hair behind her ear. "We need to send Amaya your measurements. You have to wear clothes to her wedding."

"You going to enchant them so they don't catch fire?" I ask sitting up.

"Why wouldn't I?" She asks.

"Just saying something might come up and you will be embarrassed again if I'm running around in just underwear." I hold my hands up.

"We learned our lesson the first time. Please don't bring that up." Sonja says all moody. Now that I think about it she has been smelling different and has been more moody.

"You two are still bickering over that." Maddie says coming up the dirt path.

"Maddie!" Sonja smiles and runs to her.

Little dragons pop their heads out from around Maddie's wings. Then hide when they see Sonja.

"Come out little ones. These are our friends." Maddie says shaking off seven stumpy leg eternal earth dragons.

Sonja squeals and starts hugging them all. A few tell me I smell like a dragon but look funny. 

"Congrats?" I say to Maddie while watching the babies trying to hide from Sonja.

"I should say congrats to you too." She says.

"What do you mean? I haven't done anything this last year." I reply.

She just stares me down for a bit. "Nevermind then.... Sonja don't scare my babies."

"But I forgot how cute you were and now there are seven mini yous running around! I have to squish them!" Sonja says nuzzling a baby against its will.

Maddie and I sigh before going to help the babies. This life I'm living is a good one.
