Chapter 1:
Rapture
"I was just thirteen when the great and disastrous day happened. I had just arrived in japan by plane with my family, and on that day Abominations known as 'Nephilim' rose up from the ground and emerged from the depths of the sea. Their very arrival sent many cities around the world into ruin."
"People called the event 'The day of the lord' marking the day humanity would face total annihilation. Until the Sound of trumpets rang out from above the clouds and mana came from the sky and bestowing supernatural powers known as 'blessings', onto people from all across the world. These abilities were used to fight against the Nephilim, giving humanity the necessary strength to survive."
7 years later...
"AHHHHH!"
Screams rang out throughout the bustling city numerous civilian's run in the opposite direction of the source of the chaos. many people exit their vehicles in order to escape the fate of being the next to die.
"A Titanic Nephilim has just appeared, everyone run!"
"ROAR!!!"
A guttural roar echoes throughout the city as a towering beast stands in the middle of the street. its body covered by yellow, boney spikes, as if it is it's fur. sharp rows teeth along the outside and inside its mouth.
the Abomination raises its burly fist in the air before slamming it down into the ground. with a big boom, the brunt force sends cars flying into the air, the very concreate crumbling like a brittle cookie under its' weight.
"Somebody call the executioners!"
"I already have, they should've been here by now!"
cries and screams continue as the Nephilim continues terrorizing the people and causing destruction.
"m-mama!"
A little girl cried out as she watches her mother stuck underneath some debris that was flung by the Nephilim.
"S-sweetie...im ok I'm just a bit stuck. get out of here I'll catch up with you.."
The mother does her best to keep her voice from shaking, giving her daughter the best smile she can despite the blood trickling down her forehead, blurring the vision of her right eye. The little girl takes notice of her mother efforts to reassure her. tears wells up in the girls eyes torn between escaping or staying with her mother.
"No! I'm not leaving you behind mama!"
the daughter says as she embraces her mother, blood from her mother soaking into her shirt..
"Sweetie.. ill be fine, please just go.."
Despite the mothers words, she finds her holding onto her daughter tightly, facade crumbling quickly, the tears rolling down her cheek.
as the two embrace one another, the Nephilim takas notice of the daughter and mother, its eyes glow amidst the dust that was picked up from its rampage. the beast raises its fist high in the air casting a shadow over their heads.
The girl glances up just to see the Nephilim's fist already hurdling towards her and her mother. just then, the little girl's brown eyes abruptly glows and into a bright pink light.
BOOM!
The punch from the Nephilim causes a loud explosion. after a moment the Nephilim lifts its fist from where it landed, admiring its handy work with its long slimy tongue lolling out in satisfaction.
just then the eyes of the creature widen in surprise as the dust dissipates, a pink, translucent stuffed teddy bear can be seen cushioning the punch delivered by the Nephilim, its shape bend around the monster's fist. inside the translucent form is the little girl and her mother.
The girl's body emits a pink aura she's visibly straining, beads of sweat forming at her brow, teeth clenched as she does her best to protect her and her mother. her mother has already lost consciousness her body not moving an inch
"leave...me and my mom...ALONE!"
With a forceful grunt the girl pushes the Nephilim back in the building across the street it.
'KRASH!'
Glass and debris from where the Nephilim crashed into broke and clattered to the ground. the monstrous creature appears more shock than injured surprise that it got pushed back by such a little being.
the Nephilim's moment of shock quickly turns into rage. It burst out the building, leaving behind its silhouette in the building. in a single bound the Nephilim makes it's way back over to the daughter and mother, prepared to finish them both in a single blow. the little girls legs trembled her face pale clearly at her limit. just then-
"Hey!"
BAM!
A young man's fist can be scene connecting with the Nephilim's jaw, cracking it upon impact. red flaring mana flowed around his arm.
"picking on a little girl and her mother...got to be most pathetic thing I've scene all day!"
the source of the voice came from the man whos rocking a wolf cut with blonde hair dye and punk rock attire with red accents. he showed off a fierce grin.
With a grunt the man exerted enough force, its body is is driven deep into the pavement with a thunderous boom.
The young man is still high in the air looking down a the unmoving beast. he continues to wear that fierce grin going from ear to ear. he then clenches his fist, his fiery red aura roars as he prepares to deliver another attack on the Nephilim but just then he glances to the side of his eye, noticing the little girl whos pink aura flickers as she's clearly losing conciseness.
"ugh what a pain!"
he mutters under his breath, his aura immediately dissipates. the moment he touches the ground he dashes over to the girl who's teddy bear like forcefield begin to finally fade out. the forcefield's opening is wide enough for the man to squeeze in and catch her just in time.
"phew!"
the man let out a sigh of relief as gently lays the girl down before hurryingly lifting the debris off the woman.
"huh.?"
The young man's brow twitch as he notices the woman's wounds are seemingly nonexistent. he drops the debris beside him before kneeling down and places his index and middle finger on the side of the mother neck. after a moment the man let out a grin.
"haha! managing to shield and heal, a match made in heaven!"
the young man grins creepily, his eyes shifting to the unconscious girl who is unaware of what the young man's intention.
"Mr. haru over here!"
"Haru!, Haru!"
varies voices called out behind the young man, his expression immediately turn to mild annoyance.
"ugh...they're here already?"
the man grumbles underneath his breath, the man whips his head around give a big smile despite still being annoyed from the attention, he sells his happy facade well.
"Mr. Haru would mind telling us what your thoughts are on the Nephilim appearing today in Fukuoka?"
"uh..no comment"
"Mr. Haru do you think that the frequent appearances of Nephilim recently in the cities, could be a sign humanity might one day be wiped of the face of the earth?"
"No, not at all.. its only been seven years since the the arrival of the nephilim and since our world has been turned on its head, things aren't the same as it used to so with that we're still learning. but one things for certain: as long as we have miracles around there's no chance that humanity will ever get wiped out at the hands of those abominations."
"yeah right!"
A young lady's voice cuts in as she watches the TV on the couch. her round glasses reflecting the light from the screen. she's laid out on the couch in her pajamas, small puppies scattered along her pajama pants, her slightly chubby figure evident as she lays on her side, her hair in a messy ponytail. her Rottweiler eyebrows are furrowed as she continues.
"the Nephilim have been appearing more frequently in areas that are supposed to be safe for us its clear those abominations territory is expanding! its just a matter of time before were all dead!"
"Not quite, Taka"
a deep voice cuts in from behind the young lady causing her to have to look over her shoulder. the tall figure of the person walks walks over to the curtains. with an abrupt movement the person opens the curtains letting in a bright of light, revealing the clear blue sky. the light from outside fills the living room.
"Argh!"
the young lady hisses as the sudden flash of light hits her eyes.
"if that were so, then they wouldn't assign me to help with reconstructing the restricted part Nagoya."
the source of the nose is revealed to be a young man with dark brown skin and reddish-brown dread locks that stop at the base of his neck. he was tall and slender but had just enough muscle to be deemed fit. he wore a baggy white T-Shirt and black jogger pants that made him look even more scrawny.
As the young man walked pass the couch heading into the kitchen he ruffles the young lady's hair, to her annoyance.
"ugh stop that! you and I both know that they don't admit it in order to save face and keep their level of authority over us."
"mmm...maybe but even so I still receive good enough pay to keep the lights on by the end of the month and afford the food you scarf down like a pig."
the young man heads to the small open kitchen and grabs an apple from the fridge. he glances over his shoulder towards the small living room where the girl laid.
"you can always get a part time job that way I don't have to be in 'danger' just to live comfortably, you already graduated college with flying colors. instead you just are lazing around the house playing sniper games or watching the news."
Taka doesn't seem to mind the young mans words, or try's not to as she huffs dramatically. her cheek a slight flush of red as the young called her out on her mediocrity.
"w-well I just know my true talents will be waisted being somebodies cooperate slave!"
"yeah...yeah."
not taking taka's words very seriously the young man heads to the front door, not without ruffling Taka's hair once again. she try's to fain annoyance but doesn't fight push his hand back or bother moving away.
"since construction is almost done for one of the major buildings I should be back in time to make Donburi. how's that sound?"
"Hm..Only if its with onigiri"
Taka say's stubbornly as the young man heads out the door.
"Haaah...sure thing, Taka.."
the young man looks over his shoulder smiling at Taka with a warm patient smile. the sun reflects off his brown skin like that of a perfect picture. this catches Taka a bit off guard but she does well to hide it. just as the young man was about to close the door Taka called out to him by name.
"Hikari.."
"Hm?"
Hikari pokes his head back inside the apartment. he waits for Taka to respond.
"please...be safe."
Taka doesn't bother looking at hikari, she continues to face the television to hide the faint blush on her cheeks, but her ears gives it away as they are a faint red at the ends. Hikari quietly notices this and smiles understandingly.
"Of course Taka, i will.."
Klack
With that Hikari shuts the door softly. he stands outside the apartment on the top floor and stands there for a moment and let out a soft exhale. after the brief pause Hikari leaps from the second floor, a serious expression on his face.
