Chapter 25:

Epilogue: 你的梦想永远活在我的心中。

PRECIPICE: Records of Death's Gate (Book Zero)

I hate the day, because it lends light
To see all things, but not my love to see

I am a good for nothing, miserable creature, that serves no purpose other than causing pain and suffering to all those around me. This world would be better off without my pitiful existence. Ever since I’ve been a child, the idea of death and loss has been more than familiar to me. It’s just now that the cross has become too heavy for me to bear any longer… The only source of respite I ever possessed in this life was you… Your radiant smile, your carefree laugh, and your uncertain words… They made me forget my pains… They made me forget my anguish… They made me forget who I am… I was simply happy to be in your company… And, even if, those days are now long gone… And, even if, it is all my fault… And, even if, I am not worthy any longer of saying such things… I’m sorry… And more so importantly… Thank you.

The man stood up from the crouching position he had maintained for so long. He looked at the grave, once again, the name freshly inscribed on it. He hadn’t even brought flowers to offer. All that he could leave behind there was... his heart.

With the rays of the setting sun behind him, he turned away from the stone. He took a step, then another, and he kept walking forward, as he made his way outside the desolate graveyard. The man smiled lightly, as he kept walking.

“Liahan!” a voice called out to him from a distance.

He turned towards the other person as he said, “Jacob, I told you to wait for me at the… Nevermind. Let’s just go…”

“I thought you could use some words of comfort. Though I’m not too good at that sorta thing,” Jacob giggled.

Liahan shrugged, as he walked out of the graveyard.

Back in his room, this man set the journal aside. It was still far from complete, and needed a lot more revisions. It needed accounts from others. But regardless, he felt satisfied.

“RECORDS OF DEATH’S GATE” the title read.

And if you flipped it all the way through, you could find his name signatured on the very last page, underneath a small message from him.

你的梦想永远活在我的心中。

(Your dream lives with me)

Author's Note:
HUUUGE thank you to every single person who read this book. It means a lot to me. I'm always open to feedback, and I do plan on revising this book. I intend to change some more things. And the story of PRECIPICE is far from over. There are so many more characters, so many more plot lines, and sooo much more action, hijinks, and tragedy I have in store for future installments of this work. I'll take my leave for now. See you all later.
