Chapter 6:

Smallins vs. Droctrus (2)

The Final Awakening

Pride is what gives an entity prestige and highlights strength even if it is weak; for such a being is never a coward to hide its thoughts or what goes on in its head. It would be exposed to others as someone who overestimates themselves, while between its own self and within the truth carved into the core of its being, is a person before whose power-wind all existence trembles, yet that wind does not sway a single strand of their hair.

No matter how people in society look at someone like me, they have not yet tasted the sweetness of looking down from above, and they have grown weary of raising their heads to address me; therefore, they want me to be equal to them because they feel jealousy and malice. I reached the top when I was born, and I shall remain at the top as long as I live.

And as for a few words from a cowardly fool who sees the world as an equal place—he is right; yes, it is equal, but beneath my feet.

I raised my spear with pride, and dozens of spears emerged from the ground, launching forward, cutting through the wind on their path, approaching to strike him and tear his body apart.

Not a second passed before they reached him when they stopped; he dashed forward at high speed, evading all of them and approaching me. I was now prepared for such a change;

therefore, despite his speed, some spears emerged from a close distance to me and launched toward him. He rushed toward me and smashed all of them easily; I didn't even feel it happen, and by looking, I feel that he is capable of stopping and slowing all my spears.

I did not settle for just watching; I moved toward him myself. I feel much faster in this Awakening body. I threw several stabs from a very close distance; he evaded them all. I was never skilled with a spear, so I took a quick step back; in this state, I cannot match him directly due to the clear gap in combat experience between us.

The only way to fight him is by throwing spears from the ground alone, and I need to understand the secret of his power; how can he stop a spear at such speed? There must be a secret and a key to a solution that makes the fight easier. Fighting with the mind is more effective than fighting with the body; no matter how strong a lion is, if it collides with a poisonous snake, it will lose the battle because it doesn't know the source of its strength and thinks it will fight with its own style—but no.

He rushed toward me and delivered a knee kick to the site of my injury and used his knife to strike my shoulder; I felt my left arm shatter. Some blood splattered from my body; he punched me with his arm and threw me away to hit the wall again. There wasn't much I could do; this is painful, and I need time to think.I stood up again slowly, this time with a wide smile on my face; I am still that person who says he will win in the end despite everything happening on the battlefield.

Since attacking with spears from the ground is useless, I will think of a way to fight him on equal terms directly.

I picked up the spear from the ground and began to advance, staggering and almost falling. In reality, this is what the opponent sees in me: a person unable to stand, let alone fight.

Perhaps this is true in his eyes, but he is ignorant of what is going on in my mind. He does not know that behind this skull is a great mind in which death is not an option but an insult, especially in a one-on-one battle.Either life or life... and no choice but those two.

I dashed forward, trying with my speed to deliver as many stabs as possible; he was fast enough to evade them all. Then, I summoned some spears from the ground at a close distance, distracting him and creating a small opening. I stabbed forcefully toward his chest; he evaded it with difficulty, receiving a scratch from my spear, and pushed back to retreat.

At that moment, I realized something that, if true, would change the balance of things.

When I launch spears from the ground at him, he can slow their movement and smash them, but when I attack him directly, he evades the stabs and does not slow them. Is what I'm thinking correct? I will try something to be sure.

I smiled and said to him in a loud voice: "Do you know? The ground has always been mine, and now it is an even greater enemy to you. In every inch of this ground, I can create spears capable of ending your life."

Dozens of spears emerged from the ground and surrounded him from a very close distance. I continued: "If you move and run, you will prove my theory correct and give me conclusive proof of my idea about your weakness. And if you stay in your place, you will die; the only solution is to stop and slow their movement as you always do, isn't that right?"

Expressions of extreme anxiety appeared on him; it was clear he had exposed himself. I raised my hand, shouting with excitement: "Goodbye, you fool!"

He jumped upward and managed to block some spears, while others hit him with significant wounds. I succeeded in uncovering his weakness.

Simply put, he stops and slows my spears after perceiving the attack; if he cannot see or perceive the spears, he can never stop them.

When I attacked him face-to-face using the spear in my hand earlier, he couldn't perceive my attack to slow the spear's movement. The reason is that the attack is in my hand and he cannot perceive its direction, unlike the spears that launch from the ground, which have a pre-determined direction and can be perceived by sight alone. As for the spears that launch from a very close distance to him, they are also hard to perceive due to the short distance.

He fell to the ground before me, burdened with injuries. Despite all those injuries, he stood up again; in fact, I expected that, as he looks like someone fighting for a cause and entered the battlefield with the option of winning only.

He was angry, and his eyes, which refused to lose, had a great story behind them. I don't care; I want to win, crush him, and wipe his dignity into the ground of this battle. I brought out a set of spears very close to him, ready to repeat what happened a moment ago and end this stupid confrontation.

He smiled before me and laughed mockingly; I thought he was in despair.

Suddenly, using the knife and in one quick movement, he smashed all the spears in the ground; I didn't take into account that he could reach them and smash them. He rushed toward me fiercely; I surrounded myself with spears. If he approached me, he would pay the price; his end would be covered in stabs.Despite seeing all that, he didn't stop. He continued the attack with ferocity and speed, and when he reached the required distance, I launched them all at once with massive pressure; he smashed all of them with strikes except for one that pierced his defense and hit his waist, the spear remaining fixed in his body.

When he got very close, he grabbed my arm and struck my shoulder with the knife, continuing to strike repeatedly until he flayed my arm from my body and threw it to the ground. I felt pain sweep through my body, unable to defend myself. He struck my leg forcefully, and I fell to the ground, covered in blood and unaware of what was happening; everything happened quickly. I lost my hand and a lot of blood, and I was falling on the ground without any protection, lying only on the blood-covered soil.

He raised his knife high, targeting my head; for the first time since I was born, I actually feel fear. At that moment, I noticed the spear still in his body, and instinctively, utilizing a unique feature of the skill, I raised my hand toward him. Before he could attack, the spear exploded inside him; rock fragments flew to cover his body.

I seized the opportunity to crawl and retreat with pride a little bit. I can't believe this happened to me—what an amount of humiliation! I had just figured out his weakness. It seems he was mocking me at the beginning of the battle and wasn't truly fighting at all. I was barely standing; my leg was nearly broken, my arm amputated, and I was afraid of death.

"Man, I don't know who you are and I don't care about your desire to obtain this card.

This card is a family symbol passed down to me through my ancestors, and if it is not in our family's possession, it will never be outside it.

Therefore, no matter how hard you try, the end will be your death because I will never give up this treasure. The other thing is my desire for revenge; if I kill you here, I will return to life again in your body, and that will be the greatest opportunity for me to take revenge on those who tried to destroy my family. Surrender and end it to have a quick and less painful death," the bald Smalins spoke, looking at me with pity.

It was a painful moment for me; I am being subjected to this much humiliation! How can a great person of high status like me be asked to surrender so easily? This stone-headed ignoramus.

He continued speaking before me as he prepared to attack again, saying:
"I am Virkin Rondiyord, a Bardemy and one of the former Spy Awakening users, and the person who will avenge the family and restore its glories."
