Chapter 33:

Epilogue – Let’s Make It

Secret of the Raganrog

I make landfall onto the beachhead nearest the encampment and change the exosuit into repair assistance vehicle.
Once the conversion is finished, I make my heading to the Midheim Village where Ástríðr and Fenris await my arrival.
The dawn is breaking as I arrive and I see Ástríðr standing at her repair assistance vehicle converted to encampment mode.
She seems to be rather engrossed and not lounging while perusing a book.
Has something happened in my absence, perhaps?
I park the repair assistance vehicle and walk up behind her to peek at what is holding her attention.
“Oh, I see. A connecting transit line between the villages.”
“キャー! Oh, It’s you Mr. Ninety. Don’t scare me like that.”
“You were extremely fixated on the encampment mode you were not aware that I had arrived.”
“Yeah, I was. OH MY GOD! What happened to your arm, it’s missing!”
“It is not lost. I know exactly where it is.” I reply to Ástríðr’s hysterics as I remove my severed arm from the storage compartment of the repair assistance vehicle.”
“Haha very funny, Mr. Ninety.”
“I did not reply to you with a jest.”
“Are you going to be alright to attach it? Do you need any help?”
“I should not need assistance but I will ask for your assistance if I require it.”
“O…okay.”
I go to Ástríðr’s encampment mode and press a button near the matter converter and a hole opens up.
With my fist pointing downwards I place the arm into the hole and then plunge my damaged upper arm to meet the end of the severed arm.
“Wow I didn’t know the matter converter could do that.”
An enclosure moves up to envelope all the damaged portions of my arm and then the matter converter hums.
“It is one of many things the repair assistance vehicle is capable of.”
The humming stops and then the covering recedes revealing my repaired arm.
“Wow! Just like new!”
“It is not new but repaired. Now then let us look at your idea for a mass transit vehicle.”
“What kind of monster was able to hurt you like that?”
“It was an aquatic creature familiar to Terrans called a shark.”
“A SHARK! But I thought there was nothing in the oceans. No, wait. Let me guess, it was probably that Lækni X wasn’t it.”
“Your deduction is sound. It very much would appear that they may have been the culprit. Now, this transport idea you have devised. What was your thinking in its creation?”
“Well, you see, I mean I didn’t mean to make it seem like I was trying to mess with your ideas. I just saw what you were doing and had an idea for a train between the two villages. You know so that can get to know each other.”
“Your idea is sound. What was your thinking in creating a tributary to the wolf people village?”
“They seemed so lonely and out all by themselves so, I figured they can still take care of the forest and maybe bring some things back and forth to the other places.”
“That is very admirable of you.”
“Thanks, I’m just thinking of keeping everyone connected so they can get along.”
“As for the vehicle, it as well as the power source, they could use some revisions.”
I input a few changes to her plans.
“Ooh! Yeah, that’s great! I based my idea off the thing called a “Shinkansen” Michiru had in her memories but this looks way better. Can we make it? That won’t be a problem, will it?”
“It is a minor project that will take very little time and resources to complete.”
“So, about those sharks, I don’t think they would be much of a problem for us unless they had legs.”
“They did not have legs as you say and neither we nor the Midengardians here were their prey.”
“Okay, then who were they after then?”
“Much like the masses expelled from Fenrir there were masses expelled from Kraken as well.”
“Yeah, I guess that’s possible but I don’t remember any sea peoples here.”
“You are correct. They are denizens of Planet Desuigo.”
“Aliens! Really? People from another planet!”
“That is as I stated why is there confusion?”
“It’s just not something I never saw before.”
“You forget that I am not of this world and would be considered and “alien” as well.”
“Yeah, you’re right. So are these water aliens okay?”
“There were a few casualties but they are safe for the time being.”
“That’s sad to hear but good that there were still survivors. So, what are you going to do now?”
“I must give them and the Midengardians a means to defend themselves if I am unable to arrive in time.”
“I see. So you’re going to make a bunch of weapons or something?”
“Or something the more appropriate part of that question. I am not an arm supplier nor would I want to be. We have to travel to Svartalfheim and bring back those that can fabricate them for the others in my stead.”
“Oh! The dark ones! Yeah, that’d make sense to have them do it. They are pretty good that sorta thing.”
“I will put your “Shinkansen” plan into action while we wait for the Midengardians to awaken.”
“What? Oh, that’s great! I’ll go check on Fenris.”
“Computer, what is the status of the Tornado of Souls on Continent Svartalfheim?”
“Master, there is no active tornado on Continent Svartalfheim.”
Intriguing. Perhaps there was an error and there is no spectral forms there which would be most unfortunate.
Either way this will warrant extensive investigation.
This Planet Midengard still holds many secrets that will have to uncovered, even if by force.
