Chapter 9:
Poem_of_Death
A new morning came and I wake up. I rub my eyes and smile a bit. I really did get some rest. The sun is shining heavily into room number 13. I look around and pick up my clothes from the floor, slowly putting them on one after another. I decide not to put the mantle on though. After all, I don’t expect to travel outside of this academy. At least not for now, as there are those lessons I gotta take.
I look around the room and notice a clock on the wall.
“...”
It is 10 am.
“...”
10 am…
I am… late.
Whoopsie.
I take out the timetable Miss Headmaster gave me yesterday - maybe it actually was today but who cares - and scan it.
8 am till 9 am: Medicine. Can’t say I am sorry I missed that one.
9 am till 10 am: Gym. Better, but not great either… Though it would have probably helped in getting stronger or whatever.
10 am till 11 am: Blessing Praxis. No idea what the hell my blessing does - that is, if I even have one. Might as well take my sweet time and wait until 11 am.
11 am till 12 pm: Weapons. I already have a weapon, don’t I?
I lay down and grab the sword from under the bed, holding it tightly. This blade is the only thing I still have from my village… well, asides from the clothes I took from my ancestors.
The rest of the day seems to be free. Well, that’s hardly interesting at all, is it? None of the lessons awake any interest in me. I scratch my head and slowly leave the room, my sword still in my hand. Now that I think about it, walking around an academy while carrying a sword on me at all times might not be an optimal position to be in - especially if you are new at the academy and no one knows what your deal is - but this is some kind of military academy after all. The people here have a whole subject called Weapons so I guess it should be fine?
Well, anyway: I walk through those empty and - since it is day time - pretty well lighted halls. No one is here, just like yesterday. Though no one was here yesterday because it was deep at night and now no one is here because everyone is at class. I should probably hurry up and go to class as well, but… nah.
I do feel a bit bad for skipping on my very first day, but whatever.
As I walk along the halls, no real goal in mind, I suddenly hear steps creeping closer.
I have no idea who those steps belong to. What I do know, however, is that I do not want to be seen. If it’s a student, then they see a random guy walking around with a sword… Not something one wants to see. Same thing if it’s a teacher who doesn’t know me. If it is someone who knows me though, like Hanebana or Miss Headmaster, then I still don't want to be seen by them. After making sure to give me a room and all that, seeing me wander around skipping the lessons they were so kind to give me the plan for late at night seems disrespectful.
Anyway, I don't want to be seen. Thus, I quickly open a door and go inside without thinking twice. Whatever is inside couldn't possibly be worse than being seen with a sword.
Well, if I had seen the room earlier I probably wouldn't have gone in.
The room is dark. However, on the floor are burning candles, so you can see at least. A lot of burning candles. It seems as if almost the entire floor was filled by them, to be quite honest.
There is also a giant window, however it is completely blocked by a dark-blue curtain. Only a bit of light actually passes through it. In the middle of the room stood a lonely bed. Before I can actually process what happens, another door inside the room opens and a tall silhouette steps out of it, carefully observing me and coming closer.
