Chapter 15:
I’m Too OP, So I Decided to Troll My Loli Master Instead of Saving the World
Nanako was shook. Her brain was vibrating.
[Frozen Purgatory]. She had heard legends of this spell.
She was currently a [City-Destroyer Rank] Ice Mage. To break through to the next tier, the minimum requirement was to master at least one [Forbidden Spell].
And [Frozen Purgatory] wasn't just any spell. It was the Holy Grail of Cryomancy. The ultimate end-game skill that every Ice Mage dreamed of.
The problem? The only known copies of the spell tome in the world were incomplete fragments. Only the absolute strongest archmages possessed even a broken version of it. Unless you encountered a miracle encounter, you would never see it.
And now... She had found the complete formula inside this random Ancient Elven Scroll.
But what shocked her even more... Was that her disciple claimed he invented it.
And what shocked her the most... Was that he called this legendary, god-tier spell... "Garbage."
Nanako stared blankly at the page.
[ Inner Voice ] [ Sigh. Whatever. ]
[ Inner Voice ] [ I guess in this era, mediocre spells like this are considered "meta" by noobs like my Master. ]
[ Inner Voice ] [ What a degenerate age. People treat trash like treasure. Back in my day, if a spell didn't cover a million miles, we didn't even bother casting it. This tiny Forbidden Spell? I'm embarrassed to look at it. ]
[ Inner Voice ] [ Who didn't open a fight with a [World-Ending Tier] or [Divine Descent Tier] spell back then? ]
Nanako: (!!!!)
World-Ending Tier?! Divine Descent Tier?!
Lynn shook his head, lost interest, and went back to reading his romance novel.
Nanako felt her brain turning to mush. Those terms... she had heard them in myths. [World-Ending]: Magic only accessible to Demigods. [Divine Descent]: Magic reserved for Gods or their direct avatars.
Nanako grabbed her twin-tails, eyes wide. So that's the difference in our levels... Only God-tier magic is worth his time?! Is my Dog Disciple really that overpowered?!
Wait! Nanako panicked as she saw Lynn looking away from the scroll.
Don't look away! Look back at the scroll! Keep reading the formula in your mind!
You might look down on it... But your Master WANTS IT! I need that trash! That trash is my level-up item!
Hey! Hey! Stream the data to my brain!
[ The Next Day ]
Location: The Council of Seven.
Andrew, the First Deacon, sat at the head of the table in his grey robes. His expression was dark. In front of him lay a stack of parchment filled with densely packed Ancient Elven script.
To his left and right, five other Deacons were seated. Andrew looked at the empty seat opposite him. Then he looked at the sun high in the sky.
"Where is Nanako?" he growled.
The other Deacons shook their heads, smirking.
"Probably overslept. Being late is her passive skill, after all." "No, no. I bet she realized she couldn't deliver on her big talk yesterday. She probably fled the country out of shame." "Makes sense. Rage quit."
Hearing the gossip, Andrew's face grew darker. Strictly speaking, Nanako was too young to be a Deacon. The only reason she held the seat was nepotism. The Seven Seats were hereditary, held by the oldest Magic Families. Nanako was the last bloodline of the Tulip Family, inheriting the seat from her late father.
Andrew sighed. He honestly didn't expect Nanako to deliver anything. Knowing her, she probably forgot the scroll existed until yesterday. Even if she remembered, deciphering an entire book in three months? Impossible.
Andrew shook his head. "Let's not wait for her. We shall begi—"
"WAIT!! I'M HERE!!"
BANG!
A blue blur smashed through the heavy oak doors. [Loli Charge!]
Under the stunned gaze of the council, a twin-tailed Loli sprinted into the room, gasping for air, clutching a thick stack of papers.
SLAM. She slammed the papers onto the table.
Nanako rushed to Andrew’s side and performed a violent 90-degree bow. WHACK. Her long twin-tails swung forward and slapped Andrew directly across the forehead.
"I'm sorry, Grandpa Andrew! I'm late!"
"..."
"..."
Ow, my freaking head.
Andrew clenched his fist, trembling as he peeled her hair off his face. Intentional. This was definitely a tactical strike.
"You know you're late? This is the fifth time this month!" Andrew slammed the table, furious. If he hadn't promised her father to raise her into a proper Deacon, he would have fired her ages ago.
Nanako straightened up, clasped her hands together, and widened her eyes innocently.
"Grandpa Andrew, I am truly sorry! But this time is different! I was pulling an all-nighter to decipher the Elven Scroll! It was a legitimate delay!"
Hearing this, Andrew laughed out of anger.
"Deciphering the scroll? Ha! Alright then. Let's see what you managed to 'decipher' after grinding all night."
The other Deacons tried to hold back their laughter. Their eyes were full of schadenfreude. They knew how hard this task was. Without reference materials, Ancient Elven script was basically gibberish.
And they had a secret. They hadn't told Nanako. Just last night, Andrew received a package from the Western Empire Excavation Team. It was a fragment of an [Ancient Elven Dictionary]. With that dictionary (a translation patch), Andrew had already started decoding the text efficiently.
They watched Nanako with mockery, waiting for her to embarrass herself with a gibberish translation.
Nanako returned to her seat. She took a deep breath and rubbed the dark circles under her eyes.
Finally... it's done.
It took her the entire day yesterday. She had to use every trick in the book—social engineering, feigning ignorance, baiting—to get her Dog Disciple to "think" the contents of the scroll in his mind.
It was exhausting. Mental theft is hard work!
Andrew said coldly, "What are you standing there for? Begin your presentation."
