Chapter 16:
I’m Too OP, So I Decided to Troll My Loli Master Instead of Saving the World
Nanako swallowed hard, eyes wide, nodding like a bobblehead.
She quickly spread the scrolls out on the table and separated the messy pages into three distinct piles. Whatever! Just bluff through it first!
She pointed at the three stacks and cleared her throat.
"Grandpa Andrew, after my diligent research yesterday, I discovered a critical error. The excavation team messed up the binding. This scroll actually contains pages from three different books mixed together."
"Volume 1 is a Historical Chronicle recorded just before the Elven Extinction." "Volume 2 is a record of High-Tier Ancient Magic Formulas." "Volume 3 is... uh... some poorly written Ancient Elven literature." (She decided not to mention the porn).
The Deacons looked at each other in confusion. But Andrew frowned, a flash of surprise in his eyes.
He knew about the misprint. But he only knew because he had the [Ancient Dictionary] cheat sheet sent from the excavation site last night. He had compared the original text with the dictionary and realized the pages were out of order.
But how did Nanako know? She doesn't have the dictionary. She’s working with a raw copy. Did she figure it out just by reading the handwriting? Impossible.
"Continue," Andrew said, eyeing her suspiciously.
Nanako let out a small breath. She picked up Volume 1. She closed her eyes and recalled her disciple’s internal monologue from yesterday.
Sorry, Dog Disciple! Master needs to borrow your brain to flex for a bit... I promise I'll give you two days off and buy you that strawberry cake you like!
Nanako gulped guiltily. Then, she began to recite Lynn’s thoughts word-for-word.
"Elven Era, Year 2021. The Elf King commands all Elven Warriors of the Violet Continent to assemble at the Royal Court. Prepare to answer the call of the Great Violet First Monarch. Prepare to wage war against the Gods..."
Nanako spoke slowly. Her crisp, cute Loli voice narrated a magnificent, tragic elegy of a lost civilization.
The Deacons were stunned. They stared at her, mouths agape.
Andrew became more shocked with every sentence. At first, he was skeptical. But after the first page, he couldn't sit still. He hurriedly opened his [Ancient Dictionary]. He pulled out the original copy of the scroll and compared it to Nanako's recitation.
"..."
"..."
"This... This is..." Andrew stammered.
It was identical. 100% Accuracy.
How is this possible?! He knew Nanako. She was lazy, clumsy, and definitely hadn't studied this for three months. Even if she did study, without the dictionary, translating this dead language should be impossible!
He stared at Nanako, his gaze shifting from suspicion to awe. Did she... actually unlock her hidden potential?
[ The Magic Reveal ]
Soon, Nanako finished the History section. She exhaled, wiped the sweat from her forehead, and picked up Volume 2.
She recalled Lynn’s disdainful comments about the "Garbage Spell."
"That covers the history. Now, for the magic." Nanako put on a serious face. "This volume contains the complete formula for the Forbidden Spell: [Frozen Purgatory]."
"In addition, I have also roughly translated several other High-Tier Elven Spells."
Boom. The room exploded. The Deacons jumped out of their seats.
Andrew’s eyes nearly popped out. "Magic Formulas?!" "A Forbidden Spell?!" "Are you joking?!"
Nanako felt guilty, but she had to commit to the bit. She pulled out a small blackboard and chalk. Relying on her memory of Lynn’s mental visualization, she began to draw.
Scratch, scratch, scratch.
She wrote down the complex mana circuit for [Frozen Purgatory]. She even added the detailed footnotes Lynn had complained about.
As the formula took shape on the board, Andrew’s expression shifted from shock to pure terror. He was an expert. He recognized the geometry. It was real. It was the legendary End-Game Ice Spell that every mage dreamed of.
His breathing became ragged. He was 100% certain Nanako couldn't have gotten this from anywhere else. Her only teacher was him, and he didn't know this spell!
That means... Nanako really deciphered the Ancient Scroll! In one night! Without a dictionary!
Andrew stared at the blackboard, his mind blank. Is she a prodigy? Have I been wrong about her all this time?
But then... As Nanako finished the formula, her hand kept moving. She was so immersed in recalling Lynn’s voice that she accidentally wrote down his personal review of the spell at the bottom.
[ F-Tier Spell. Bottom of the barrel. Absolute garbage. Only fit for kindergarteners. — Lynn... ]
Nanako froze. Her face turned crimson instantly.
Crap! I was thinking too hard! I accidentally transcribed the Dog Disciple's trash talk! I can't let Grandpa Andrew see this!
Swipe! She erased the last sentence with her sleeve at Mach speed.
But it was too late. The Deacons had high dynamic vision. They saw it.
Andrew stared at the board. "What did you just erase?"
Nanako stiffened. She shook her head so fast her twin-tails became a blur. "N-Nothing! Just... just a brief comment from an Ancient Entity regarding this spell..."
Andrew looked down at his desk. He flipped to the last page of the original scroll. Sure enough. At the bottom of the original formula, there was a short, scribbled signature.
He frantically used his dictionary to translate the signature.
"Lynn... Violet Monarch... Great Father God..."
Silence. Absolute silence.
"..."
"..."
Nanako’s heart hammered against her ribs. It’s over! Grandpa Andrew translated it! He saw the name "Lynn"! Is my disciple’s identity as the Violet Monarch exposed?!
After a long pause... Andrew took a deep breath. His voice was filled with complex emotions.
"As expected of the King from the Ancient Era. A spell this magnificent... in His eyes... is merely 'garbage' and 'kindergarten magic'." "That entity... is truly beyond our comprehension."
Nanako blinked. Eh? No suspicion?
"Um... Grandpa Andrew?" Nanako asked tentatively. "You know of this... Violet Monarch?"
Andrew nodded solemnly. "I have studied many fragments of history from a thousand years ago. Back then, the Violet Continent was ruled by Seven Monarchs." "But the First Monarch... he was in a league of his own. He stood far above the other six."
"In that era, he had a special title."
Nanako asked, "What title?"
Andrew looked at her with reverence.
"The King of Kings."
Nanako: (ΩДΩ)!!!
