Chapter 23:

San - Enter The Festival

Bintchoo To Kukuru

Everyone worked to decorate, and set up the festival. When the evening came they got everything completed, and started letting civilians into the center of the city. Makadu took care of the music. The group from before who played pop music was back, and however Makadu wasn’t dancing to their music. Makadu stood on stage, watching as the people came in, and started enjoying the food, music, and talked with each other. Makadu hopped off stage, and walked towards the castle.

Yuna, Yusuke, Hiroko, and Ramon were at the house, changing into festival clothes. Yuna changed first, sat in front of the hearth, and she started to write a translation book for her friends, so they can communicate with everyone. Makadu walked in, and sat next to Yuna. “That’s smart.” Makadu said. “I figured.” Yuna said. “The festival started. Thank you and your friends for helping set it up. However, I'm still waiting on the Takue Brothers to come back with the fish.” Makadu said. “They’ll come, I hope. You seem to put enough trust in them.” Yuna said. “Well they know how much the festival means to me, and they know not to mess with me as well.” Makadu said. “Nice. Also, it’s not a problem, me and my friends helping out. At least I think it isn’t a problem. Yusuke seemed impatient. We are here to try to make sure everyone here is a good person or not.” Yuna said. “Why?” Makadu asked. “I’m not a hundred percent sure, but I know it has something to do with the queen. After all, she was made a target. We were here to make sure if it was justified. I think that’s what’s going on.” Yuna said. “A target, for who, what are they going to do to her?” Makadu asked. “Mardom Rooh, they are going to send three people to assassinate her.” Yuna answered. Makadu stood up. “Go, go to the festival. I have to go.” Makadu said, before leaving the house.

Yusuke walked into the main room. “What was that about?” Yusuke asked. “Nothing, just telling her why we are here.” Yuna said. “Did you tell her the truth?” Yusuke asked. “Yeah, someone is going to kill the queen, and we-. Oh, I see what I did wrong.” Yuna said. “Great.” Yusuke said. “If it makes you feel better I won’t make the same mistake again. Also we haven’t been uninvited from the festival. In fact she kind of demanded that we go to the festival.” Yuna said. “Great, now we just have to hope she doesn’t kill us, or ask for anyone else to kill us.” Yusuke said. “I don’t think she’ll do that.” Yuna said. “On the basis of you knowing her for two days?” Yusuke asked. “I knew Ramon for half a day, and he helped me defeat a Yanamun.” Yuna said. “Different context.” Yusuke said. “I’m sorry, but I think there is a spell on this island that makes me want to tell her everything. She is nice.” Yuna said. “I think you might have a problem. Similar to the one Hiroko has with Yusuke.” Ramon said. “What problem?” Yusuke asked. “No one answer that!” Hiroko yelled out. “Are you done yet?” Yuna asked. “Nope.” Hiroko said. “Ok we can deal with my mistakes later, but for now let’s get to the festival.” Yuna said.

Makadu made her way to the throne room. She opened it, and walked into the room, seeing Queen Umitama sitting, hardly able to breath. “Makadu, what brings you here?” Queen Umitama asked. “A group called the Mardom Rooh is planning on killing you.” Makadu said. “Oh that. I already know. Not the first time they have planned that.” Queen Umitama said. “What? And you didn’t think to tell me?” Makadu asked. “I didn’t wish you to worry.” Queen Umitama said. “How could I not?” Makadu asked. “Makadu, there is much I haven’t told you. I can hold off the Mardom Rooh for long enough, but I need you to promise me something.” Queen Umitama said. “What?” Makadu asked. “Find those people, the girl and her friends. Go to them, and ask them to take you to their world. It’s the only place you’ll be safe from the Mardom Rooh.” Queen Umitama said. “No, I am not leaving you. Together we can stop this threat. Just let me help.” Makadu said. “There is no helping. Can I show you why?” Queen Umitama asked.

Yuna and her friends made it to the festival, where they were welcomed. Joining in on the festivities. Yuna walked to a food stall. “What can I get for cheap?” Yuna asked the man behind the stall. “Ask away, everything has already been paid for by Queen Umitama.” the man said. “Can I get one of those things?” Yuna asked, pointing at a kebab filled with meat. “The man grabbed it, and gave it to Yuna. Yuna took a bite. “It’s good, what is it?” Yuna asked. “Coconut crab.” the man answered. “Why?” Yuna asked quietly, allowing only herself to hear her. She looked at the crab meat, and sighed. She hesitantly took another bite. “Still good.” Yuna said.

Yuna found Ramon near the edge of the festival. “What are you doing?” Yuna asked. “Thinking.” Ramon said. “About?” Yuna asked. “Nothing that concerns you.” Ramon said. “Come on, are we not friends, do friends not tell each other everything?” Yuna asked. “No.” Ramon said. “No to what?” Yuna asked. “Both.” Ramon said. “Come on. We’ve had fun. Remember the amusement park, before everything?” Yuna asked. “I remember.” Ramon said. “Fine.” Yuna said. Walking into the festival, pulling a boat of fish were the Yukue Brothers. “Hey! You owe me a rematch.” Sokon said to Ramon. “In your dreams!” Ramon yelled back, with a smile. “So you are friends with him?” Yuna asked. “I’m friends with no-one.” Ramon said. “Whatever.” Yuna said.

Queen Umitama grabbed a curtain behind her, and pulled it, revealing something for Makadu to see. Makadu walked past, into the new part of the room. She saw many monsters dead, and tubes in them, sucking their blood, out and into Queen Umitama. “Many years ago I found out how to live forever, like so many before me. However it was different. I needed Yamanum blood, to allow me a prolonged life. But as time went on it turned me into this. Which is where you come in, you and the other six. Creatures of my own creation, mutated to take the accumulation blood. Something called Remnant. When Mardom Rooh came they called it RTK. Remnants of The Kami. As accurate as it is, I hate the name. But we struck a deal. They take RTK, and leave me alone.” Queen Umitama said. “Me, and the six? What?” Makadu asked, looking scared. “My own vessels, built to withstand the Remnant. When the time was right I pushed my power, and memory into the new host. For four hundred years I have done this. None have worked, but none have been as perfect as you.” Queen Umitama said. “Do you kill them?” Makadu asked. “They rejoin me.” Queen Umitama said. “That’s not answering.” Makadu said. “Makadu, I’m done. I want you to run away from this place, leave.” Queen Umitama said. “What about-. Stop. Stop confusing me. Stop lying, tell me the truth.” Makadu said, crying. Queen Umitama grabbed Makadu and hugged her. “My dear, my darling. When you were born you brought happiness to this island. Something I couldn’t bring in a while. And you have continued to do so. You brought everyone together as a people. You are the heart of Agaitiida, and I want you to live so please. Go, run. Follow that dream you want, the one you hide from me.” Queen Umitama said. Makadu hugged Queen Umitama.
