Chapter 37:

True Beauty

Traumata: Relapse

I awoke clad in the white silks of a wedding dress, still nothing around me.

With the others, their Traumata were connected to their inciting moments, so where am I?

I looked around, finding an altar floating in the nothingness, with a black veiled figure seemingly waiting for me.

Upon further inspection, her dress mirrored mine, with the shift in colors being the only difference. Behind the veil around her face, a slight purple glow radiated from her eyes. It was her.

Yuri.

I walked towards her, my feet finding resistance in the void.

She held a bouquet of purple lilies in her hand, gentle tears soaking the veil as I approached as fast as I could in the dress I was provided.

Finally, I could hug her one more time. Just once more, even if it was the last. But it can’t be. Not again.

She slowly lifted my veil up, as I did the same.

Then, she clung onto my hands, the bouquet just floating around the nothingness around us.

All she did was smile at me, her eyes reflecting the endless void around us. Yet still, I felt an incredible warmth inside me, an entirely different sensation to the one I had felt up until now.

“Laura Schnee. You truly are my world. Ever since we’ve met, I could not have been happier for even a single second. Since the first time I saw you, you became the single star shining across the entire night sky.

Every single moment we spent together, every single breath I took while I was near you, every second we I felt your endless warmth. I never want to forget that, ever again.” She briefly stopped to take a breath, tears still flowing out of her eyes.

“Please. I know you have been through hell over the past two weeks and more, but I hope you can forgive me. There will never be as single thing I plan on ever keeping from you, as we will be one. For the rest of my life, every moment I could possibly spare that’s left, I want to spend with you. So, I ask you, Laura, will you take me, Yuri Utsuro, as your wife?”

Small purple orbs began floating around us, dimly illuminating the space around us.

“Yes, of course I will. Now I ask you, Yuri Utsuro. You were the first person in my life to give me an actual purpose. I, too, never want to forget even a single second of a single moment we spent together. Over the past two weeks, I realized how much I truly need you to function. Without you in my life, there was simply no further reason to live.

You are the sun lighting up my sky, the lilies blooming in the wilted garden of my life.

You are the one who made my heart flutter with joy the first time we ever talked. Every single second of every single minute of my life has been filled with the thought of you since we first kissed. Please. Yuri, will you make me the happiest person on earth, and take me as your wife?”

“Yes, I will. Shall we?”

“Yes.”

I reached for her finger, realizing she still wore the ring I gave her. She grabbed my cheeks with both her hands and leaned in for a kiss. Our tongues entwined as I felt her gently tipping me to the side, our hands now deeply rooted within each other.

What followed afterwards was more than pure ecstasy, our souls became one.

Her bare body across from me, we both fell asleep in pure joy, reawakening in a slowly fading void.
