Chapter 38:

Honeymoon

Traumata: Relapse

Where will we go now that this is over? Maybe Germany? I felt her laying in my arms, the ruins of Nagasaki surrounding us. I gently brushed through her silky, black hair. The faint sound of endless sirens and flames was almost soothing with her in my arms.

The other three rushed over to me, all barely hanging on. I couldn’t possibly feel any better.

The rift above us slowly closed back up, with the dragon vanishing after pulling Yuri back to consciousness.

“So, you actually did it, huh? Congrats on that. Seeing her directly, I can definitely understand your actions,” Araki joked.

The weird black liquid below our feet slowly seeped into the ground surrounded by all the rubble.

The dragon had destroyed all of Nagasaki, probably killing at least half of the population.

Will all this weigh even heavier on her mind? It’s not her fault, and she knows that perfectly well.

“I give up. I already had my doubts when first seeing the dragon up close, but with her? I actually can’t compete. I guess we won’t get married after all,” Takako said shortly before fainting from exhaustion.

“I’m so glad for your happy end…” Ai muttered, slowly turning around to leave the city’s ashes unnoticed.

I turned my view back toward Yuri’s face, her eyes slowly opening.

“I missed you. So much.” Tears began streaming down my face as I embraced her as tightly as possible.

“I’m also glad to see you, and actually feel you again,” Yuri said, embracing me with her arms too.

“Get a room, you two. Geez.” Araki walked toward Takako, slowly picking her up. “Come on, Takako. You wouldn’t want to see that when waking up, I’m pretty sure.”

We held each other for a few more minutes, after we simply lay next to each other in the ruins, gazing into each other’s eyes. The nightmare was finally over.
