29. Lightning Purple

Haruka and Kazuki removed and smashed their NCIDs. Next they looked sadly at each other. Haruka broke the silence:
- "No time to grief, we must go on."
- "Yes, we need to return to the computer room." - they returned to the white door that lead to it. - "Eisubel said it is super resistant. Let's see." - Kazuki tried first physical force, he punched, pushed and kicked the door, to no avail. He also tried to get a piece of wood he found to use as a lever, but the door did not budge.
- "Let me try one thing" - Haruka got close to the door and tried to use her electromancy to manipulate the door's lock. She was unable to feel anything, the lock's mechanisms were isolated by non metallic materials.
- "Well, let's go with fire." - Kazuki released a stream of fire into the door. It got slightly red. He continued and it got brighter. He tried to put in more power, but was unable to. When he stopped, the door quickly returned to its original white color.

Both agents moved around anxiously, trying to find a path.
- "Eisubel may return at any time" - Haruka said.
- "And there is the assault." - Kazuki complemented. Suddenly, Haruka's eyes widened. - "got anything?"
- "Yes." - she paused - "how about we mix our magical powers?"
- "What do you mean?"
- "If you use your fire and I use my lightning, do you think the door might budge?" - Kazuki touched his chin.
- "Um, I'm not sure, I mean... I..." - he snapped his fingers - "actually it might work!" - he moved to the front of the door. - "stay by my side. I will use my flames on the door structure. You should point your lightning through the fire. If the combination plays out well, it just might work!"
- "Great!" - Haruka went to his side while Kazuki prepared his fire.

Kazuki took a deep breath, extended his hands and released his fire stream. Slowly the door was getting red. Haruka now released her lightning and tried to keep it inside the fire. They both concentrated. Slowly, the blue and red lights mixed into a purple light that illuminated their eyes and bodies, and at the same time the door became bright red. They blinked towards each other and channeled all the power they could. The purple light illuminated the entire corner, with electricity and fire they made plasma which was blazing hot. They felt the heat, they sweated and the plasma melted the shining door mechanisms. They stopped after releasing their power and panted. Kazuki dashed and kicked the door which fell inside the computer room.

- "COME ON!" - he shouted clenching his fists.
- "Now let's go!" - Haruka also cried. They quickly went inside. Kazuki picked up a computer on the right side and threw it on the corner of the room. Then he pushed the desk aside, revealing the secret door.
- "Let's go!" - he said pointing at it.
- "No, wait." - Haruka was touching her chin.
- "Come on, no time to lose, they might want to persecute us."
- "Yes, exactly." - Haruka continued - "If we leave now, it will be hard to escape NUMO. Except if..."
- "Except if?"
- "So, here is the computer with the security protocols. If we use the operat... Akemi's" - Haruka looked down - "her flash drive, we might be able to hack the system, the real security system, and close all doors." - Kazuki's eyes widened:
- "So your plan is to trap both rebels and NUMO's forces inside this facility, so we can escape?"
- "Exactly."
- "That's hideous. I love it!" - Haruka quickly inserted the flash drive onto the computer and started typing. It was a matter of a minute for Akemi's software to break all the security measures of the system. It took another minute for Haruka to find the door control and simply close all the doors. She clenched her fist.

Kazuki then took her hand and they left through the secret door. They went through a small dark corridor and found hollow metallic stairs, which they climbed at a fast pace. At the end of the stairs, they opened up together a large rusty door and were met with the powerful sun of Tokyo.
