Chapter 16:

Fianna's dark secret

En Passant Grandmaster Volume 4

Wiley grumbled to himself as he rose from his seat.

"One last thing; any clue why your rival might be getting so bent out of shape to the point where she's ordering hits on my friends?" Okisato asked.

Wiley's gaze narrowed as he sat back down.

"Did you hear of the video Carol and Iori-chan posted where it was revealed the two have a blood relation? Well it turns out Carol is also the niece of Fianna, one who the Broadstone family claimed to have perished."

"Zinnia... Yes, I recall the news. But even if she really is Zinnia, people won't believe it even with the DNA test before them. Fianna's crafty."

"So revealing she's a blood relative of Japan's edgiest streamer won't do the trick," Iori grumbled.

"No. Even if it's proven she of all people is Japanese, that's nothing. You have any idea how many people there are that are against their own ethnicity? Countless. I'm firmly in the camp that believes she and her Broadstone backers kill hindrances, but it still doesn't make sense, even for you. You're a public face, so if they wanted you gone, they'd have taken you out sooner."

"We all thought the same. Are there any big scandals you can think of that might be tied to Fianna's lineage being revealed?"

"No bells. I'm not familiar with Japanese politics, so no clue what significance the Kirikawa name holds. But if you want scandals involving Fianna, the very scandal that catapulted her career was a big one."

"What happened?"

"Back then, she was just a student activist, drawing crowds, but only a sprout. Then one day, she went missing. A search was soon formed and she and her sisters were found tied up in their house. Fianna showed signs of having been raped, with testing revealed her father to be the culprit."

"NO WAY! You're saying Carol-chan's grampy raped her!?" Iori cried.

"With all the glaring evidence, it was open and shut, yet it was thanks to that Fianna gained national attention, and soon found herself running for office. Then years later, the Broadstones adopt her. I didn't think it at the time, but now, I'm positive she staged that rape. No way anyone would wanna rape an ugly mug like that!"

"You're logic... it's in the right area to put it nicely. Though the crime was most certainly rape, the victim in it all was actually Grampy," Carol frowned.

Everyone began to gape with horror, save for Okisato and Wiley.

"So to springboard her own success, she raped her own father... Still, there must have been more. The way you described it, she probably would have found fame even if that event never happened. She doesn't make her rape central to her character, yes?" Okisato asked.

"Right, hardly brings it up in anything that ain't an abortion debate, and even then, she keeps the description basic, just, 'I was raped once, and being able to get an abortion saved my life, thus my allegiance will also be pro-abortion'. Even in the press notes, they keep it minimum."

"Probably because she doesn't want anyone to dig too deeply into things, likely because Carol's grampy is still alive. And why is that? Why go after Carol and not him? What if it's because killing him would backfire?"

"Maybe. He's made his claims that Fianna was the one that attacked him and kept him tied up, so maybe killing him would be seen as admission of guilt, but his record is already out in public, so no one believes his claims anyway."

A malicious grin spread on Okisato's face. "And that's the answer."

"Huh?"

"The reason why Fianna raped him wasn't to springboard her career, but to save it."

"Meaning?"

"Carol, correct me if I'm wrong, but I imagine it went something like this..."

...

A young Harold frowned as he sat and watched the TV. Upon hearing the door open and close, he turned to see a smirking Fianna.

"And why are you sad? Upset about my political beliefs? Well tough. My dream is to become president and fix this broken world, so keep the tears coming," Fianna smirked.

"What you got against Japanese? You're always rallying against everything and anything to do with it," Harold scowled.

"Um, because it's a culture of degeneracy and barbarianism? Need we forget we were at war with them not too long ago. And now, they're trying to brainwash minds with their pornographic comics and video games. It disgusts me. We should have finished them off when we had the chance."

"What made you like this!? I never raised you like this!"

"I became independent, that's what. Now, we chart our own path."

"We're Japanese too ya know!"

Fianna's eye twitched. "As if. Senility-"

"I'm tellin' the truth! I never met her, but my mom, your grandma, was Japanese!"

"I don't believe you."

"Guess maybe it is my fault for not bringing it up, here, let me fetch the album."

Fianna shook her head and frowned, yet the moment Harold returned with an old picture of his parents, color began to vanish from her face.

"See! Clearly Japanese. Might not be reflected in the genetics, but you, me, your sisters, we're all Japanese, so stop it with the self-hate. I never experienced the culture, yeah, but it's a part of our family history!"

Fianna quickly began to have a panic attack, her eyes darting madly around the room. Then without warning, she grabbed the picture from Harold's hands, and smacked him hard on the head with it. Harold fell to the ground, groaning in pain, as Fianna went in for another hit. Harold began to get weaker, but rather than deal a potentially fatal blow, Fianna stopped herself.

"No... This is perfect! He just can't resist me!" she thought as a disturbing smile spread across her face.

Hauling Harold over to a chair, she bound and gagged him with tape before pulling down his pants and her own.

...

"And then, all she had to do was wait to be found. I imagine she was able to recruit her sisters as co-conspirators, yes?" Okisato asked.

"Yeah. Aunt Fianna's always been the leader of the group. All obey her without question," Carol frowned.

"And with her father convicted of rape, no one would believe a word he said. So if he claimed him and Fianna had Japanese heritage, none would believe it."

"But why would she need to do it? Isn't she a powerful politician?" Mimoko asked.

"Now, but not at the time. If the truth of her lineage came out then, it'd have destroyed her career. People would turn on her quickly, and she'd never be able to achieve the position she's in now."

"But now, that old lie could be exposed, and if it is, bye-bye campaign," Iori grinned.

"I guess this means I have to come out and reveal my identity, and get Grampy to come on stream too. I guess he did already show up in plenty of my streams before. Still, really don't wanna come out and reveal my identity, but if it stops Aunt Fianna, I'll do it," Carol nodded, determination flaring in her eyes.

"Then send it to my campaign arm once it's done. We'll amplify it to high hell," Wiley smiled as he got up and warped away.

No sooner did he leave did Okisato receive a message on his phone. Staring at the contents of it, he silently glared before heading off.

"Tanabe-kun? Where are you going?" Mimoko called out.

Yet, Okisato didn't respond back, nor turn back. "Yokohama, Red Brick Warehouse... I'll be there," he thought.
