Chapter 3:
Redstone is Elegant [LITRPG]
"He seems to be waking up."
Isaac slowly stirred, opening his eyes, blinking fast to adjust to the light.
He saw figures around him, still too blurry to make out, but definitely people.
He looked around the room, it was seemingly a large tent, held up my quarter cut logs and a large stitched together cloth covering as the roof, walls and entryway.
Isaac attempted to sit up to get a better view of what was in the room and the people in it, but was pushed down by a, firm yet gentle, hand of someone he hadn't noticed behind himself.
As he laid down he looked up and slightly back seeing a man garbed in a cloth like apron, akin to modern Scrubs. The man had blond hair and greenish eyes.
As Isaac stared at the man, the man looked back at him, seemingly studying him as he laid on the bed.
Isaac slowly looked down at himself seeing his shirt had been removed and his upper body was covered in white cloth bandages.
He looked around seeing a woman in similar clothing to the man behind him, along with two guards, a female guard who held a musket style rifle and a male guard who carried no weapon in his hands but had a cavalry sword sheathed at his waist, the scabbard was on his right side, suggesting the guard was left handed, as Isaac slowly came to, he started mentally nothing things like this.
The woman had long pointed ears and had a knife sheathed on her chest. He could hear the sound of foot traffic outside the tent like structure and it seems like the male guard was irritated, but he was out of range to hear what he was saying to the other guard.
The female doctor finally approached him staring for a while before finally speaking to him.
"Uhm.. Hello can you understand me?"
Isaac stared for a second before attempting to speak but it came out as a low barely audible sound. He stopped and thought before nodding, hoping since they spoke the same language, head motions would also hold the same meaning.
The woman's face lit up as she saw the nod.
She quickly called for the male doctor.
"Doctor Arie, the patient is conscious and has enough cognition to understand what we are saying, but seems to be unable to speak for the current moment, either from previous inability to do so or from the injury."
The male doctor, Arie, walked around the bed staring at Isaac as he did so till we was next to the female doctor, or more likely his assistant or a nurse, assuming what time period it could be thought as based on the tools, or lack thereof, in this medical tent. But that could also not matter seeing as there was a female guard. As Isaac thought about this, the doctor spoke.
"Since you seem to be incapable of speech, I will be asking yes or no questions, which you should respond with a nod for 'yes' and shaking your head side to side for 'no', is this understood young man?"
Isaac slowly nodded.
"Good. Then I shall begin. Do you recall how you acquired your injuries?"
He nodded.
"Very good, your memory seems to not have been damaged. Did you arrive at Greenwood forest alone?"
Isaac nodded while thinking he finally had a name for the location he was at.
The questions continued for a few minutes, ranging about if he had always been alone, if he had known about the town inside the forest, after awhile the doctor changed topics and started speaking about how after Isaac regained his ability for speech the guards would be questioning him next.
Slowly the day came to the end, the female nurse, which Isaac had found out her name was Fiene, had given, by given she fed him as he was too weak to do so himself, some warm soup.
As nightfall reached, Isaac slowly fell into the sweet lullaby of sleep and fell silent.
