Chapter 34:
A Night is all I need (remake)
‘Damn!’ Sark bellowed, shaking his leg—but John’s grip was too strong. With inhuman strength, John leapt to his feet and hurled Sark into the wall, shattering it. Sark groaned as he hit the ground, but John didn’t stop. He lifted Sark again and slammed him into another wall. Blood sprayed from Sark’s mouth, yet he remained conscious.
‘You’re not the only tough bastard here!’ Sark roared and riddled John’s arm with bullets. The arm was torn from his body, and Sark crashed to the floor. Dean had reached them. He launched a powerful kick, aiming to sweep John’s legs—but John stood unmoved, like a boulder. With a savage tackle, he sent Dean flying across the room.
(Larah: This does not look good.)
Forest Behind the Hospital
In the woods, the special forces had engaged the enemy. The ghouls were numerous but lacked mutations or elites. Refugees who had fled into the forest now clung behind monstrous-looking soldiers—some airborne, some clawed, others towering. Though terrifying in appearance, these were humanity’s protectors—and they were winning. That is, until a chilling, monstrous roar echoed through the trees. The ground shook.
Battlefield
‘Hahahaha!’ Dracule laughed, watching his crimson magic descend upon the earth. His gaze drifted to the forest.
‘That presence! I see you too have arrived, Saphire!’ Commander Nootra turned toward the sound. (Commander Nootra: That presence… Another celestial?)
Then, without missing a beat, he focused again on the incoming attack. He inhaled. His stomach glowed with radiant energy—white and grey intermingled—and he fired. Blast after blast erupted from him, colliding with Dracule’s crimson dragons.
Boom. Boom. Boom. Explosions lit up the sky, cracking the earth and swallowing ghouls into deep slits.
‘King of Beasts!’ Dracule taunted. ‘What are you waiting for? This form won’t defeat me. Show me your final form—or are you mocking me?’ Nearby, Nicole battled Dracule’s three servants. The fight was evenly matched. She only needed to hold out five minutes longer to banish them.
(Nicole: He has a third form?) The thought distracted her—only for a moment—but it was enough. One of the servants appeared behind her, claws ready to strike. But he wasn’t the only one who made a mistake. Jessie, who had stopped chasing Nighyel, saw the danger. With a fierce battle cry, she cleaved the servant in two. Nicole exhaled, stunned. ‘You came back?’
‘Yes. I want to kill that bitch,’ Jessie replied, ‘but John would rebuke me if I left the others for revenge. Her time will come. But first—why hasn’t your boss used his third form?’
‘I didn’t even know he had one. He must have a reason for hiding it…’ The sky cleared. Dracule’s patience snapped.
‘So that’s your game? You may have inherited his power—but you’re still human. It ends now!’ He spread his arms, blood orbs forming and floating around him.
‘Your kind shall be judged by my blood… Rain of Death!’ At the mention of that name, memories surged in Commander Nootra’s mind—memories inherited from the previous King of Beasts. He remembered how devastating this attack was.
The orbs burst. Blood rained down. Most stood frozen, unsure of the danger—except Dracule’s own servants, who paled with dread. Nicole’s instincts screamed: Run. Her vampire blood knew what was coming.
(Commander Nootra: If I transform and lose control, I’ll kill everyone. But if I don’t, the rain will do it for me. Damn it!)
Deep Forest
Alpha Squad stood still. The creature was coming. Each step thundered. Her breath was ragged—bestial. Then… silence. A sweet, haunting voice rang out instead. The remaining ghouls knelt in silence, their heads lowered, not daring to face her.
‘So many… just for me?’ the voice mocked. ‘Humans—you should feel honored to meet your end by me. I am Saphire.’ She stepped out of the shadows. And there was no doubt— She was dangerous.
