Chapter 27:
Knights of Vein
Alphonse, still not understanding what happened, orders the alchemists not to touch Helena's body.
Irineia appears behind Alphonse and speaks to him.
Irineia: -You found her body, it's sad what happened.
Alphonse, very angry, clenches his fists and vows revenge on whoever did this to her.
Irineia: -I got here before you, she seems to have committed suicide by cutting her throat.
The wooden floor of the old orphanage creaked; that once happy place was now a floor bathed in blood.
Alphonse leaves the place and Irineia says she kept something of Helena's.
Alphonse: -What special thing did she keep?
Irineia pulls Helena's eyes from her bag.
Alphonse is startled, but his face is filled with rage. He grips Irineia's shoulders tightly and says: "WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT? DID YOU STOLE HER EYES?"
Irineia: "Calm down, I'm just trying to save her. After all, she was a good person and must have felt the pressure Gray put on her after she started working at the orphanage. It was the same with Nina. Who knows what else she did to Helena to end up like this?"
Alphonse goes to look for Gray in his room in the castle. There he finds him, and Gray says: "Alphonse, where is that wretched Helena?"
Alphonse throws his chains and binds Gray.
Gray: -What is this?
Alphonse: -It was you, wasn't it?
Gray: -What are you doing? Let me go, boy.
Alphonse: -She died because of you, you piece of trash. Now you'll suffer my pain.
Gray: -Who died?
Alphonse tightens his grip on Gray's limbs, turning his chains into ice spikes.
Gray, in agony: -Argh, let me go now.
Alphonse, you can't do any magic. Now I understand... It was Helena who did this to your arm.
Gray: -She was crazy, Alphonse, she came to confront me about Nina's death, but I had nothing to do with it.
The chains with ice spikes transform into fire spikes and burn Gray's flesh.
Alphonse: -LIAR, YOU WERE BOTHERING HER, WEREN'T YOU?
Gray: -No, I only told the truth.
Gray thinks, "-Where is the Lady of Illusions? This guy is going to kill me."
Irineia appears and Gray says: -Help me, lady.
Alphonse crushes Gray even more, and he asks Irineia why Gray calls her "madam."
Before Gray could answer, Irineia blows out his tongue and says to Alphonse:
Irineia: "Avenge Helena for all the evil this man has done to her."
Without thinking twice, Alphonse dismembers Gray completely; it was the end of the entire political elite.
Irineia hugs Alphonse and touches his face with her cold hands.
Irineia: "Everything this man did to harm the people, he deserved to die, but poor Helena didn't."
Alphonse: "My Helena won't come back, there's no hope for me."
Irineia kisses Alphonse and says: "I will bring her back, trust me.
And this time, she will love you like never before and will be my creation."
Alphonse, a little scared, asks how she will do that.
Irineia: -First I'll bring her to our physical world, then I'll bring her to the new world.
When I do that, will you still like me?
Alphonse: -I like you very much, I was just sad because Helena was the last of my friends, you know.
Irineia: -Would you marry me?
Alphonse: -Yes, no doubt about it.
Irineia: -Will you give me an heir?
Alphonse: -Yes, I will have one with you and we will spread our knowledge to him.
Irineia and Alphonse go to the center of the castle and there they have relations.
The sky, once orange during the day, turns red, the remaining soldiers plunge their spears into throats.
The few civilians who remain transform into devilhands and devour the others.
After the act, Irineia and Alphonse vanish into a blue mist reminiscent of the cosmos of the heavens.
The castle crumbles and that day turns into night; the change is so perceptible that in the kingdom of Volny, one could see what was happening in Vein.
The king of Volny tried to make contact, but the messages did not reach Vein.
The only ones unaffected were the fishermen and those who lived far from the cities, for some reason.
The sound of crows leaving the forest was loud, and two silhouettes in a cave noticed it.
