Chapter 19:

The Upright Stasis Pods

My Sister Found a Spaceship

Clare was banging on the bathroom door.

“Let me in!” she shouted.

Then Ivy walked out.

“It’s all yours,” she said as she walked towards me. Clare went in the bathroom.

“Hey, Ivy do you know where a stasis pod is?” I asked, considering she had lived in a spaceship for more than 2 years.

“Oh sure! Down the hall!” Ivy said enthusiastically.

I froze.

“What? We have been so close to our parents this whole time?”

“Yep.”

Just then, Clare walked out.

“Good news,” I said as I looked at Clare.

“This brat is finally leaving?” Clare asks, pointing at Ivy.

“Well, the one you’re calling a brat, just found our parents,” I said.

“Specifically, down the hall,” Ivy said, gesturing for me and Clare to follow her.

“I’ll stay behind here,” Clare said, sitting on the floor.

Me and Ivy were walking down the hall and there they were, the stasis pods. 100 at least, lined up in a room. One of the pods had a man with brown hair and a long beard reading a book. He flipped a page.

“Hey Max, today might be the day you and all your friends get freedom!”

Max looked up from his book, What Was Mine.

“Ivy. Who’s the kid?”

“Stephan. My friend.”

He looked at me.

“Hey Stephan.”

I waved.

“Do you talk? Say something.”

“Do you have anything else to do than read a book?”

“I have my phone. It’s what I had when I was abducted.”

“Ready, all you bodies, be free!” Ivy said. I heard muffled cheering. Except two of them. Wait, could those be my mother and father? They had numbers.

“Don’t free number 17 and 99. Here,” she said handing me a rock.

“Be free!” she screamed.

It became loud. Smashing and banging. Glass and green slime was on the floor. The muffled cheering became louder. When we were done, it looked like a warzone. And the aliens had found us.
