Chapter 62:

Epi.13-2: Ghost Café — It’s Up to You

Two in the Abandoned House

After Yuka left, Furuta calmly sipped his coffee.
He hadn’t told a single lie.

This place was a café owned by the channel he belonged to.
It operated as a regular café, but it was also rented out for filming by other channels, and hosted various collaboration cafés that offered special menus and merchandise.
Naturally, they used it for their own filming as well.
This place—known for its ease of use and high degree of freedom—had brought them many benefits.
He believed that one of the major reasons their channel had reached its current position was the existence of this café.

And then, one week later, this place would suddenly become a “ghost café.”
We would film Hiromu’s frightened reaction as he arrived without knowing anything.
Of course, we knew that he was bad with horror.
Just imagining how things would go on the day was enough to make his face break into a grin.
We would surely get some good footage.

However, he left the producing to an amateur woman.
It might not turn out frightening enough to scare Hiromu.
If that happened—he would film himself grilling her thoroughly.

—Ideally, he wanted both.
Thinking that, the corner of his mouth naturally lifted.

What he considered the most difficult part of this plan was finding someone who would insist that ghosts existed and agree to take on the producing—but fortunately, he managed to land the very first candidate.

Among the questions he had written in one of the emails exchanged beforehand was, “Do you think ghosts really exist?”
The reply was: “They do! I stream together with them!”

He still remembers vividly how he burst out laughing on his own, wondering if such a conveniently perfect person could really exist.

And now, there was a line caught in his throat.
You said ghosts exist, right? Then why didn’t you bring them with you?

That was exactly why he had wanted that answer.
There was a chance it might cause a bit of backlash.
However, he had his own side of the story as well.

If there are cats in a cat café, then of course there should be ghosts in a ghost café.
If ghosts exist, then it’s only natural to bring them.

That would be enough to convince most people.

Even so, they would properly see the ghost café through for the full two months.

I do intend to keep my promise.
