Chapter 2:
The far lands
Javier takes off his shoes, He then steps into the river, "How did a river get inside a cave anyway?" he asks, The cold water coming into contact with his feet, His father remaining silent, was anticipation? Or something else? Javier was unsure
He moves closer to the Blade, admiring it, it was a white sword forged from a material unknown to Javier, it's glow shines like it JUST came out of the forgery, vibrant and beautiful, it's handle covered in a fine leather, covered in a grey, almost burnt cloth, contrasting the elegance of the blade, truly a master-piece of art
"Well, here goes nothing" Javier says to himself,The blade sitting there, unmoved by the current, seemingly waiting for him.
reaching into the water, grabbing the handle of the sword, excitement rushing through his veins, an uncontrollable smile plastered on his face
Javier grips the blade
a minute passes
then two
then several
Javier sits, blade in hand, disappointed, "what was supposed to happen anyway?" he asks, His father lets out a laugh, "Well, that's the thing, nobody really knows, its been decades since it reacted to anyone, Great Heroes tried it, Towering Kings tried it, Honorable Knights tried it, but to no avail, it never reacted to anyone" The king explains
"you took me to a trial that no one succeeded before?" Javier asks
"well there's a first for everything, imagine if my son managed to awaken the great sword! i would've been ecstatic" The king says, bawling up his fists, pointing to the heavens
"Are you mad at me?" Javier asks, looking down at his hands, which are still clutching the sword, "What? Of course not, why would i be mad at you for not awakening a sword that has never awoken?" he says, beginning to walk towards his son
The king extends his hand once more, "Come on, lets get back inside, you probably need to dry off" He says, a smile on his face, "Do you mind if i keep the sword?" Javier says, "Hm?" The king answers, the question unexpected
"Do you mean you're choosing it?" The king asks, his hand still extended,
Javier thinks for a moment, before grabbing his father's hand, "Yeah, i think i am, i just like the way it lo-" Javier is cut off by his father picking him up and lifting him high, spinning him around, splattering water over the both of them
"My son finally picked a magia sword! I'm the proudest father in all nations!" The king says, laughing, Javier barely able to keep his grip on the sword,
The boy is finally put down, "I'm throwing a banquet to celebrate this! Dress your best this night, come, lets get us both dried up" He continues, ruffling his son's hair,
They both exit the cave, returning to the Castle, The Royal Maid awaiting them at the entrance,
"Oh my, you both look like you were having a water fight." She says, frustration on her face, "What did i tell you about playing in lakes Javier? you're gonna get sick again!" she continues, "and you're majesty, you can't keep spoil-"she says before noticing the sword clutched tightly in Javier's hands
"Oh my" She manages to say, "You've finally done it you royal rodent" she says, crouching down and pinching his cheeks, Javier letting out a small groan
"I'm holding a banquet tonight, can you get him ready?" The king says, "Fancy, we'll be back later!" she says, pulling Javier, who goes along, sword still in hand, a smile on his face......
